Imagine It

Just strolling through the National Gallery of Art tonight - I love old American photography, as in this interior from Doylestown, PA circa 1917: The Stove.

Here's a look down Vanderbilt from East 46th circa 1935. Been there, done that this year. While not American, here's a soulful face of London circa 1936, almost looks as if they knew what was coming in the years directly ahead.

Then there's some still water courtesy of the Wissahickon Creek outside Philadelphia in 1865. Given the year, one might wonder what was on that fellow's mind - squint, he's sitting there where the water meets the rocks.

In 1919, Stieglitz memorializes Georgia O'Keeffe's hands - haunting somehow - with this profile being even more so. Care to see a German Welfare recipient from 1930 - now that we know what that poverty combined with evil, wrought?

Imagine sitting across from these two ladies on the subway just prior to World War II. Incredible Mother and girl - Chicago 1953. And such a sweet child of 1864.
