FL Newspaper: Ron Klein really messed up his chances against Allen West

This must be Ron Klein's terrible, horrible, no good, very bad day.

After the democrat party in Florida revealed Allen West's social security number, things seem to go downhill for the democrat. West is rising in the polls, he is earning millions in donations, he has clever ad postings around the FL-22 district of Klein as Nancy Pelosi's puppet, and is a Youtube sensation among conservatives across the country.

The Palm Beach Post's editorial board left the impression that Allen West has practically won this race for House seat in Florida's 22nd district thanks to the incompetence of the Klein campaign and the Florida democrat party. They even wrote that Klein's "recklessness" does not grant him the right to accuse West of such a thing. The wheels are coming off.

Oops, my bad. It wasn't a Tea Party event. I don't recall ever seeing a report where a Tea Party turned violent, even with all those extremists in attendance. This was just a group of Berkeley liberals, students who don't want their tuition to rise.

Of course, they'll eventually blame Tea Partiers who don't want their taxes to go up, anyway. So, I figured we may as well take the blame up front.

Late-night protest at UC Berkeley turns violent

BERKELEY, Calif. (AP) -- A late-night demonstration over budget cuts turned violent in Berkeley when protesters broke into a campus building, torched trash cans, smashed windows and threw rocks and bottles at police, authorities said Friday.

Police arrested two people near the University of California, Berkeley campus, said Officer Andrew Frankel, a spokesman for the Berkeley Police Department.

The unrest began around 11 p.m. Thursday after a crowd of more than 100 people gathered on campus for an open-air dance party to build support for an upcoming statewide protest over education funding cuts.

Students and activists have staged demonstrations in recent months at public colleges across California to protest deep budget cuts that have led to steep tuition hikes, enrollment cuts, faculty furloughs and reduced course offerings.

I watched some of Beck's speech. He invariably loses my interest fairly quickly. But it's a free country, he's free to do his thing and his fans are free to enjoy it as they might. I've also looked at the post-CPAC coverage of Beck.

I watched Rush Limbaugh speak at CPAC two years ago and still remember the reactions to it post-CPAC, both pro and con. There is simply no comparing the two.

Glenn Beck is no Rush Limbaugh and never will be. And I'm about as interested in the back and forth over Beck, as I am in him. I've got more important things on my mind just now.

Alec Baldwin: Did Suicide Threat Lead To 911 Call?

A fairly detailed report regarding Alec Baldwin being treated and released from a hospital this morning after his 14 year-old daughter called 911. Was he simply acting for the benefit of his 14 year-old? That wouldn't be very mature. Usually it's the other way around.

If nothing else, it gave Hiltzik something to do besides represent Glenn Beck. Strange bedfellows and all that.

NEW YORK — Emmy-winning actor Alec Baldwin, a star of NBC's "30 Rock," was examined Thursday at a hospital after his daughter called 911, a law enforcement official said.

After an argument, Baldwin's daughter called 911 at around 12:10 a.m. from his Central Park West apartment and said he had threatened to take pills, according to the official, who spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because the person wasn't authorized to speak publicly.

"This was a misunderstanding on one person's part. Alec was quickly released from the hospital; he's completely fine and will be at work today," the actor's spokesman, Matthew Hiltzik, said in a statement.

In 2008, Baldwin blamed a bitter custody battle with ex-wife Kim Basinger in part for the anger and frustration he was feeling when he berated their daughter in a phone message leaked earlier to the media.

"Deadliest Catch" Captain Phil Harris Dead At 53

Captain Phil Harris -- star of Discovery Channel's "Deadliest Catch" -- died about an hour ago ... sources tell TMZ.

Harris was hospitalized a few weeks ago after suffering a stroke while unloading crabs. He had been doing better until the sudden turn.

Captain Harris died in a hospital in Alaska. He was 53.
