Mexico's Lead Investigator Of David Hartley Murder Beheaded

Welp, guess we don't have to worry about David Hartley's wife doing this one.

(CBS)  There's still no sign of David Hartley, the man believed to be dead after a lake pirate attack two weeks ago while he and his wife were jet skiing on the U.S.-Mexico border. But now, the search itself has turned deadly.

CBS News correspondent Don Teague reported from McAllen, Texas that Rolando Flores, lead investigator with the Mexican State Police of Tamaulipas was murdered.

Sigifredo Gonzalez, sheriff of Zapata County, Texas, told reporters on Tuesday Flores' head was "delivered to the army garrison … in a suitcase."

Last week, somebody defaced some of Republican state Senate candidate Roger Katz’s campaign signs in Augusta with anti-Semitic slurs. The wording of the messages indicated the graffiti was probably not the work of kids, since it mirrored phrases favored by neo-Nazi hate groups (including the acronym “ZOG,” which stands for “Zionist Occupation Government”).

Lisa Murkowski Impressed With Bar Exam Fraud?

From KTVA 11 in Alaska. Murkowski can't really be using this line down below, can she? As previously blogged, the company was hit with an $11.9 million judgment for stealing copyrighted test questions. Real impressive, Lisa. Geez.

The events giving rise to this lawsuit began with the February 2003 administration of the Alaska Bar exam, which was taken by Defendant Robert Feinberg, the PMBR creator and CEO, and 3 Dorothy Benson, another PMBR employee. After time was called, Feinberg attempted to leave the examination room with handwritten notes and Benson was found to have similar notes on her desk.

Murkowski's bar exam trouble

Of the many similarities between Murkowski and Miller that have been reported this year, one of the lesser known facts is how they each became lawyers.

Murkowski told the Anchorage Daily News last week that she didn't pass the Alaska bar exam until her fifth try.

The multiple choice portion of the test gave Murkowski particular trouble until she took a preparatory course in Oregon offered by PMBR, Murkowski said.

She was so impressed by the course that she went on to be the company's representative in Alaska for several years after that, according to the Daily News.

On the other end of the spectrum, Miller spokesman Randy DeSoto said the Fairbanks attorney and Yale Law School graduate was able to pass the bar exam on his first try in 1995.

Investigators had been looking for David Green since early September, when family members reported him missing. On Sept. 7, authorities conducted a search of the couple's Raleigh home but were unable to locate him, Wake County Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Phyllis Stephens said.

"They continued to investigate, and went back out there [Wednesday] to do another search," Stephens told AOL News. "[Investigators] were looking around, and they saw a freezer. They opened [it up], and there he was."

Chandler, a professional surfer who lives across the street from Kelly Elementary, never got an answer from the suspect following the Friday shooting.

Minutes earlier, the suspect had parked his car, jumped a school fence and fired on the playground in the beach community north of San Diego, shooting two students in their right arms, police said.

The students, ages 6 and 7, are expected to make full recoveries, Carlsbad police Lt. Kelly Cain said.

The gunman continued firing rounds as construction workers chased him. One of the workers, Carlos Partida, told KGTV-TV that he ran to his truck and drove into the gunman to stop him.

"I hit him with my truck," Partida said. Meanwhile, teachers and school administrators corralled the screaming children into classrooms.

The suspect, Brendan L. O'Rourke, 41, was arrested for investigation of six counts of attempted murder and numerous weapons violations, Cain said. Investigators believe he acted alone.

Obama MIA On Texas Border Murder, Perry Steps Up

Obama seems to want to make the case that the border is a federal responsibility and states, as in Arizona, shouldn't interfere. Yet, given an opportunity to actually do something that should be his administration's responsibility, he's nowhere to be found. I imagine he's either campaigning, fund raising, playing golf, or vacationing, again. What an absolute incompetenthe's been in the WH. But then, the Obama's do have a history of no show jobs.

AUSTIN, Texas (AP) -- The search for an American tourist reportedly shot dead on a border lake has led Texas Gov. Rick Perry to tangle with the Mexican government over the investigation and efforts to recover the body.

Perry said Wednesday that Mexico needs to use every resource available to find the body and have it returned to U.S. soil. He has asked Mexican President Felipe Calderon to call him, but no phone call had been scheduled Wednesday evening.

Tiffany Hartley says her husband, David, was shot by Mexican pirates on Falcon Lake last week as they were returning to the United States on Jet Skis. Falcon Lake is a dammed section of the Rio Grande that has been plagued by pirates who rob boaters and fisherman who wander into Mexican waters. Hartley's death would be the first killing on the lake.

RALEIGH -- The ABC11 Eyewitness News I-Team has learned federal prosecutors in Raleigh have issued a new round of subpoenas in their investigation of former NC Senator John Edwards.

A law enforcement source told the I-Team Wednesday that about 20 new subpoenas have been issued ordering people to testify about the arrangement to conceal the affair and the baby John Edwards had with his mistress, Rielle Hunter.

A federal grand jury in Raleigh has been investigating Edwards, a former North Carolina senator and 2004 Democratic candidate for vice president, for more than a year. They've been focused on the possible mis-use of campaign contributions.

Bell CA Fallout Continues, Council Member/Pastor Resigns

Seems one of the California officials grossly overpaying himself was a pastor, along with being an alleged public servant. He has resigned for the good of the people, his family and his church. Yes, of course he did. No doubt.

LOS ANGELES (AP) -- One of four City Council members charged with illegally paying hugely inflated salaries to themselves and other officials to run a blue-collar Los Angeles suburb resigned Monday, hours before the council was scheduled to hold its first meeting since the members were marched off to jail in handcuffs.

Bell Councilman Luis Artiga told The Associated Press he was resigning immediately in "the best interests of the people of Bell, my family and the church."

Artiga, who is a local pastor, was one of eight current and former Bell officials charged last month with misappropriating $5.5 million in public funds. He is free on bail pending an Oct. 21 arraignment.

Criminal Mexican Illegals And The David Michael Hartley Tragedy

One topic I thought we might discuss on Hannity's panel Friday had to do with Mexico complaining about our returning criminal illegal aliens. I'm glad we didn't get to it, as it would have been difficult to not get incensed at this nonsense from Mexican officials.

A coalition of Mexican mayors has asked the United States to stop deporting illegal immigrants who have been convicted of serious crimes in the U.S. to Mexican border cities, saying the deportations are contributing to Mexican border violence.

Unfortunately, Pundita posts an even more troubling bit of news involving Mexico and a criminal element they, in some cases, seem perfectly content to export into the United States. This is extremely troubling news. It seems not all of them have to cross the border to perpetrate crimes on American citizens. How long are we going to coddle what increasingly looks like a Third World country that thinks America's primary mission is to solve all their problems for them?

(AOL News - Oct. 3) -- Dodging gunfire from pirates on a Texas-Mexico border lake, Tiffany Hartley was forced to make an impossible choice: risk her life by staying with her husband or return to land and seek help.

The couple were sightseeing on Jet Skis on the Mexican side of Falcon Lake on Thursday when Hartley says several boats of gunmen opened fire, striking her husband in the back of his head.

A recording of her 911 call released this weekend and reports from law enforcement officials detail the tragic incident.

"He was thrown off the Jet Ski and I couldn't pick him up to get him on mine," Hartley, 29, told the 911 dispatcher after she safely made it to shore. "Oh, God."
