The media and non-conservative outlets like NRO are going to try and spin Florida as, this primary is over. It's already beginning.
In a typical primary season, that might hold. This is not a typical primary. A month ago Romney was up huge in Florida. Within days, his numbers collapsed. Now, an airwave assault on Newt Gingrich may save Mitten's bacon in Florida but he is far from out of the fire. Push back against his despicable and dishonest tactics is already mounting on multiple significant fronts.
A new InsiderAdvantage poll conducted Sunday night of likely Republican voters in the state of Florida shows a significant surge for former House Speaker Newt Gingrich.
All spin aside, clearly any Romney support is soft and negative attacks ads will not firm it up. Gingrich continues to lead in the national polls. No matter what happens in Florida, this race remains up for grabs, while Gingrich, Santorum and Paul continue to fight for delegates that could come into play at the GOP convention.
Don't let the Romney media push spin you. Conservatives have a dog in this fight, may have one all the way to the convention and the important thing is we not give up. Stay strong, patriots. Lesser men have met greater challenges for our republic throughout its history. Don't give up. There is absolutely no reason to after Florida and beyond. The race remains far too volatile for now. Don't be fooled by the spin some now usual suspects will try and put out.

I'm with ya.
And, the truth is, if Romney loses FL it really is over for him.

John McAnus is calling for the primary to end.
I know he has been right about something in the past...
I just cannot recall what the FLUCK it was...

I'm in Florida and I cant get over how many dishonest ad's are running about Newt. I'm not a Newt supporter I like Santorum. But the amount of lies comming out of the Rino Romney camp is scary.
To think this guy is in the lead? I have yet to see anyone challange him on some of his weak points. The RommneyNewt fighting has become a distraction to Romney's background and history. There is little time being spent on WHO HE IS. When you find out its really scary to think he could win.
LOts and lots of questions about this man but why ask them when we have Newt to talk about right?
We need to get some answers on the record about who he is.
The vetting process is not at work where when it comes to Romney.
I just might vote Newt to stop Romney and let this process work some more.

Just remember, a vote for Gingrich is a vote for Obama.
The Dems would break out the streamers and balloons if Gingrich won FL.

"Just remember, a vote for Gingrich is a vote for Obama."
I was told a vote for Reagan was a vote for Carter.
Hmm...

Interesting Team Gingrich memo on long term strategy... sounds pretty good, actually:

Its time to surround a good man who lives what he believes, and is a clear conservative: see Michelle Malkin's very objective article on SANTORUM...

Really? Romney has won one race in his entire life and that one just barely. He's never won 50% of the vote ANYWHERE despite outspending rivals by preposterous ratios. He's been campaigning for seven years and throwing money hand over fist everywhere but still can't close the deal. He's never demonstrated the faintest instinct or ability to confront the Left or espouse conservatism under fire but rather slips into squirrely defensiveness under even the mild inquiries of Fox News. He's contributed nothing to the conservative intellectual storehouse. He's a shallow, insecure, smarmy-smiling rich-kid lightweight phony whose glib invocations of Reagan in 2008 gave way to the nastiest forms of leftist character attacks in 2012. He stands for nothing, and the democrats are salivating to face him.
Gingrich, meanwhile, has flown into the teeth of Leftist storms and scored victories Romney could only dream about if he even dreamed conservative dreams, which he doesn't.

Part of why there's been an anti-Mitt backlash is because his disgusting tactics are finally being exposed:

At his core, Mitt's an Alinskyite. His dad met & liked Alinsky in 1967.

NRO isn't a conservative outlet in the universe you inhabit? Do hamburgers eat people there too?

rrpjr,
What do credibility and the conservative media have to do with each other? You seem to think they're somehow related.

"The RommneyNewt fighting has become a distraction to Romney's background and history. There is little time being spent on WHO HE IS."
Of course!
That's the point! Romney puts Perry on the defensive for the TX Dream act or for "killing" social security, and because of the volume and dishonesty of the attacks, Perry has no choice but to focus on defense.
It leaves no time to discuss the record of Romney and how bad it is compared to Perry, and soon, Perry is out of the race and it's time for Romney to move on. This has been a pattern for quite some time.
For high info voters, it's just annoying now as we've seen it and know it'll happen again. If Newt really was out in Florida (and Dan's right, that's not true at all) and dropped out, Mitt would just gear up for Santorum smears. He's done this many times, and did it in the last primary.
The entire point is that it sucks out so much oxygen that you can't get the low info voters to ever pay attention to Romney's record. They hear that he's a brilliant businessman and see that he's super pretty and sounds kinda nice, and all that showbiz stuff wins the day.
Of course, Obama would crush him. The sad reality is that Romney is less electable than the others, but it would take a general election contest to prove it. It'll be too late then, like it was with Dole and Mccain.
Right now Romney relies on the fact his liberalism creates incentives for liberals to give him a lot of slack, and that a lot of pundits have a double standard for attacks (if they hurt mitt, they are bad; if they help mitt, they are just politics).
It's frustrating, but my reaction is to double down. I know Mitt will lose against Obama, so I have zero incentive to unify. I realize that the general election is really taking place NOW. Getting a conservative nominated is necessary, so there is no point in laying down and accepting anything less. Even if it's the 50th state primary, I will not lay down.

Wrong. A vote for Romney is a vote for the judgment that voted Carter for President over Reagan, and Mondale again over Reagan, and signed into law a gun ban, a gun tax, free abortion, the individual mandate, many liberal judges, and free healthcare for illegals. In other words, Romney is too much like Obama and if you support Romney ideologically, you are a liberal.
Romney can't beat Obama any more than Mccain could, and electability polls here are simply unreliable. In fact, Mccain was doing much better against Obama at this point in 2008 than Romney is doing against Obama. Romney is less electable than Mccain.
We need a clear choice... a conservative who can attack the things both Romney and Obama get wrong.
Anything less will lead to four more years of Obama, no matter the attempts to pretend otherwise.
We've seen this happen too many times.

If you want to understand what we will do if NEWt wins the nomination, watch Newt's speeches. Here are some with CONVENIENT links.
http://newtgingrich360.com/profiles/blogs/2012-victory-or-death-newt-s-speeches-links-to-17-speeches
If you care about the origins and meaning of America, start with "2012: VICTORY OR DEATH," which includes a description of George Washington on Christmas Eve in 1776, with his small army of Americans, marching, some without boots, in a snow storm to cross the Delaware and confront 800 professional Hessian solders (who, btw, Newt says, were NOT drunk, but made a considered decision not to post sentries because, as they reasoned, NO ONE would be out in this kind of storm. And, Newt says, they were right, for a European army. But for Americans, it was just hunting weather.)
Seriously. Newt's speeches are perhaps the fastest way to understand what we are going to do to restore our country to its constitutional basis, and how we're going to do it.
