I've already had my say on Mitt Romney's latest incarnation.
If Jay Nordlinger at NRO had this impression, what impression do you think Mitt left on voters that were tuned in? Way to go, Team Romney!
When Mitt brags about himself, and criticizes Gingrich, he does it very, very badly. I mean, both of those things. He is lousy in those two modes: bragging and criticizing.
Actually, Mitt is nagging Newt — picking at him — more than criticizing him.
I have to say, Mitt looks small, and Newt big. For the first time (in my view), Newt looks mature and Mitt juvenile. For the first time, Newt looks the more presidential.

I have NEVER liked Mitt Romney, ever. And it goes back for as far as I can remember him being on the public scene. It has nothing to do with him being rich or a Mormon, it has everything to do with him being an unlikeable asshat!

How mean these Republicans are when they take on their own! How polite they are when they "fight" the Dems.
While Mitt was going on and on, I was thinking, "ya Mitt, Newt has battlescars, from fighting the Dems (and FOR conservatism)! He touched their god, Wild Bill, remember?"
I am acutely aware of Newt's faults. And I still choose him over Romney. Take that Republicans! You abandoned Newt then as you abondoned Sarah Palin after she worked her butt off for the party in 2008 and 2010.
I remember when Newt came back from Zimbabwe and said that he will never allow his country to go the way of Zimbabwe. I believed him, even though at the time I did not think I would ever support him for president.

o/t, but...like I said the other day about the new Obamic diktat; "That'll play real well..."
The liberal Cardinal Roger Mahony, archbishop emeritus of Los Angeles, blogged that he “cannot imagine a more direct and frontal attack on freedom of conscience”—and he urged people to fight it. Another liberal favorite, Bishop Robert Lynch of St. Petersburg, Fla., has raised the specter of “civil disobedience” and vowed that he will drop coverage for diocesan workers rather than comply. They are joined in their expressions of discontent by the leaders of Catholic Relief Services and Catholic Charities, which alone employs 70,000 people.
Way to extend health coverage for all, Barackah...!!!
Obama made it worse.

Newt does not school the electorate, he schools the far left of center progressive memes.
When Romney attacks, it is like he is arguing against the electorate, it shows in other ways as well.
His supporters only real talking points are attacking everyone not Newt and if they ever talk someone up it is because they know increasing their percentage takes from someone else that is besting Romney. I do not know, but for conservative voters the whole argument, "what the f%cking hell is wrong with you god damned bible thumping anti-capitalist science denying witch burning neanderthals?" usually does not do much to attract them to the person spewing it or the person they are spewing it for.
When I make comments I explain why I like Newt, how I see his change of positions. How history shows that he is a conservative. If I then go on to attack Romney, or in the past Perry or Cain, I gave specific reasons, explained my thinking on it, and reviewed the criticisms I got in return.
There is an Ocean between the Romney principles group and the Newt principles group. I will not swim it.

The Gingrich case was extraordinarily complex, intensely partisan, and driven in no small way by a personal vendetta on the part of one of Gingrich's former political opponents. It received saturation coverage in the press; a database search of major media outlets revealed more than 10,000 references to Gingrich's ethics problems during the six months leading to his reprimand. It ended with a special counsel hired by the House Ethics Committee holding Gingrich to an astonishingly strict standard of behavior, after which Gingrich in essence pled guilty to two minor offenses. Afterwards, the case was referred to the Internal Revenue Service, which conducted an exhaustive investigation into the matter. And then, after it was all over and Gingrich was out of office, the IRS concluded that Gingrich did nothing wrong. After all the struggle, Gingrich was exonerated.
