I'm very serious when I say, I'm about at the point where I might have no problem dumping on Romney during the general election if he gets the nomination. I'm not sure I want a guy like this in the White House, regardless of what party he's in.
The New York Times reports today — based on unclear sourcing — that Romney has endorsed a strategy of raising doubts about Newt Gingrich’s “emotional stability.” Well, if that’s the case, here’s Exhibit A.
The mailer also prominently features a quote from my colleague Jennifer Rubin, describing Gingrich’s “well of sleaze.”

Romney = conservatism gets blamed for liberal policies.

George Soros recently said "there isn’t all that much difference" between Obama and Romney. This is the first time i can recall the man saying something I agree with him on. If Newt wins the nomination, I will of course vote for him and continue working for him. If Romney is the GOP nominee, I'll check out the third party candidates, and if there's not one I can bring myself to vote for, I'll write in Sarah Palin's name.

Josh, I think we need to step back just a bit.
Go find a text of the SOTUS and read it. We cannot...under any circumstance...permit another Obama term.
I understand and agree with you, except on the use of your vote. Regardless of who the GOP nominee is, they HAVE to be held to account by Conservatives who are ACTIVE, MILITANT, AND DEMAND REFORM. None are pure.

Recognized the page 2 pic of the mailer from the Drudge Report the morning after Newt won South Carolina, I think.

At this point it is all up to Newt to win the day. Riehl World View and Legal Insurrection are no match for the other blogs with their guns all pointing at Newt. Look at the poll numbers; it's terrible. Gingrich got a huge bounce from South Carolina, and almost every single conservative outlet has unleashed operation Destroy Newt. It's terrible, because the Newt support in the media is too lukewarm. Rush Limbaugh and Mark Levin are too focused on themselves to mount a defense of Newt. Levin is out selling his book and that's about it. We're all going to wake up on Feb. 1 with Romney the inevitable nominee once again.

I hope that the candidates (especially Newt, to whom I am currently leaning at this point) use tonight's debate to promote their positive agendas and attack Obama's, particularly on the heels of his horrifying State of the Union.
Your site is one of the few I've read that is not pushing a lot of the anti-Newt stuff. Thank you for that. I wonder if you could remind people through a post of the differences between the remaining candidates' tax plans? There are several summary tables at various sites. Using those I was surprised to find how little detail is in Romney's (a lot of it is status quo with a promise of unspecified changes) and how Newt is the only one of the remaining contenders who has a flat tax.
Although it's important to counter the attacks and lies being thrown about, I think we still need to make positive cases for the candidates where we can.

Actually, Kyle, Rush is breathing a lot of life back into the Newt campaign today.

Dan,
The moderate/liberal Republicans are in full court press to stop Gingrich. I listened to Rush today and he seemed confused. He even played the misleading section that comes from this clip without explanation. What we need is for conservatives to rally around Gingrich or the Romney people will confuse Republican voters with this propaganda and we will end up with Romney. I hope Mark Levin will do this because he has a big enough platform to get the message out.

"I listened to Rush today and he seemed confused."
Intellectually honest, I think.
We have two (essentially) highly imperfect contenders. Both of whom have a history that is not unclouded or consistent.

Romney is despicable. I'm voting Newt in the primary, Gary Johnson in the general if Newt loses. Either one will accomplish more for conservatism than Romney or Obama.
Arguments for Gary Johnson: he opposes Roe v. Wade, which is the only thing that matters about abortion; he will actually veto spending and cut the budget; is is not crazy like Ron Paul on foreign policy; legalizing pot is good policy (and Congress will prevent him from changing policy regarding harder drugs). I don't know if Gary Johnson can get out of the 3% Buchanan / Nader range, but with Paul's popularity and Gary Johnson's "legalize it" plank, I think he can.

This Romney is one oily reptile
Question is, will the oily reptile go after Obama with forces equal to the ones he uses against his own?

I don't understand your devotion to Gingrich. While he is a gifted polemicist, he simply doesn't have the temperament or the character to lead. His relentless indignation is just so much pretentious crap. Romney on the other hand, is a proven leader.
What is very interesting in my book is that overwhelmingly, people who've worked with Romney have enormous respect and even affection for him. While those who have worked with Gingrich don't seem to have anything good to say about the experience. Bob Dole claims that Gingrich asked him why everyone seemed to take an instant dislike to him. "Saves time", is allegedly replied.
