Given Jim Geraghty's great ability to dig down through political numbers to produce terrific analysis, as he so often does, his recent attacks on Christine O'Donnell strike me as ironically superficial. She didn't interview well. She didn't make enough money to satisfy me, etc.... Really, Jim? Sorry. Maybe if O'Donnell had a yacht and a foundation to go hat in hand to big donors for her every year, she could live high on Republican welfare dollars like all you good chaps at NRO.
I'm also being asked, “Why aren’t you investigating Mike Castle?” What’s to investigate? (Don’t you dare say, ‘the gay rumors.’) Mike Castle been in elected office of one form or another for about 40 of the past 45 years: deputy state attorney general, the state House of Representatives, eight years in the Delaware State Senate, four years as Lieutenant Governor, two terms as Governor, and the state’s sole representative in the U.S. House since 1993. Mark calls this living “on the public dole.” By this standard, every lawmaker lives on the public dole, and our hero Ronald Reagan lived on the public dole for 16 years.
As for investigating Castle, how about something like this? Honestly, when looking over the NRO mentions of Castle, it looks short on substance and more like one is reading the work of a bunch of Republican fan boys making nice to the next Republican they want to wine and dine with on the Hill - all at the expense of donors, or taxpayers, of course. Better be careful, Jim. If you have to use the mens room, you might want to use the extra-wide, or handicapped stall. We wouldn't want your fondness for Castle to be mistaken for anything else. Just sayin', is all. Heh!
It's not as simple as labeling Castle a greenie, tree-hugging Republican, but more along the line of the interests supporting the nine-term congressman. As Delaware's former governor, Castle has a pattern of looking after the banking industry, a major component of the state's economy. He did this first as public servant in state government, but more recently in Congress as a member of the House Financial Services Committee.
Should cap-and-trade be signed into law, it would place limits on carbon emissions, and as National Center for Public Policy Research's Tom Borelli says, it would lead to "the creation of the largest commodity market in the world." Borelli adds that the Commodities Futures Trading Commission estimates a $2-trillion futures market would be created "in relatively short order," which he says would be larger than the futures market for oil and gas.

Reminds me a lot of the criticism aimed at JD Hayworth. He did domes ads for a "Get free government money" company. And that make him worse then McCain how, exactly?

Castle is an older Bush clone. and yes Jim 40 years of living on the public dole is a bit much. It's a shame the only way we get rid of these type of leeches like Castle anymore is in coffins.
sending some more money christines's way I hope she wins! and in 12 years i'll be sending money to her challenger. It's the only way....

Dan, please don't forget to sign up for the next annual NRO cruise. You too could get the opportunity to play shuffleboard with an unshaven Jonah Goldberg and see Rich lounge in his flip flops. See Ramesh, moderate the dinner chatter with his corrective brilliance. All of the up and coming political moderates will be on hand. Remember you blue collar politicos; we can't just churn out this brilliant product for free, give us money please. By the way, check out our book sale, I think Karl Rove and Ross Douthat have a few gems in the bundle. Be sure to catch our exclusive rant from Kathleen Parker on Palin's most recent Faux Pas, and we hope to finish our negotiations with Conor before the end of the year. Life is good at NRO.

I'd take the NRO position to be much bigger than a wide bathroom stance. They have moved the tent out so much that their is little integrity left in the poles holding it up, and they sure haven't come in with any additional shoring up of that integrity.
