I was preparing to respond to Patterico's item here questioning an Examiner item on eliminationaist rhetoric by Glenn Reynolds when the power went out here earlier. I'm glad to see Glenn has offered a non-response in the form of a poll.
But answering that would spoil things.
It seemed strange that Patterico was looking for some sort of concrete answer. As with magic, trapeze acts, certain forms of comedy and some other things, using sarcasm, or satire, to point out hypocrisy usually works best when the wires don't show, or everyone isn't in on the joke.
Were he cast for the Wizard of Oz, Patterico might make a good Toto. Some times it's good to pull back the curtain but sometimes it's not. That's some serious concrete-thinking issue you got going on there, Pat! Heh!

I am modifying what Dan Riehl said about Patterico:
"Were he cast for the Wizard of Oz, Patterico might make a good Toto http://www.bing.com/videos/watch/video/wicked-popular/b9af81d143a7b30d8223b9af81d143a7b30d8223-168539718492?q=youtube%20popular%20wicked&FORM=VIRE7 well...popular blogger. Some times it's good to pull back the curtain but sometimes it's not. That's some serious concrete-thinking issue you got going on there, Pat! Heh!"

Sorry, the tags don't work here. But I would strike Wizard of Oz for Wicked and strike Toto for the witch in the pink dress for Patterico. Because he loves being popular!

Hey Patterico, http://www.bing.com/videos/watch/video/youre-so-vain-carly-simon/df3672a384416c76bceedf3672a384416c76bcee-166290654078?q=youtube%20you're%20so%20vain&FORM=VIRE1 you probably think this post is about you...

I think it was a fair enough question especially since Mr. Instapundit a lot employs this sort of weak formulation dodgey dodge where he says we should act like there's global warmings even if there isn't.
Me I'm not going to act like there's warmingses if there isn't. Nope. Not gonna do it and you can't make me cause I'm very willful like that.
Posted by: happyfeet | Monday, September 06, 2010 at 04:21 AM
Perhaps, Mr. Happyfeet, reading what Mr. Reynolds says may help you understand: Those who SAY it's a crisis should ACT like it's a crisis. He says nothing about how those who do not believe in man made global warming should act.
Just as he says nothing about government being the ones who do anything about leftist hate speech. We do know that all decent people shun Neo-Nazis, as they should. Well decent people should also shun those who want to sterilize people. Decent people should have shunned those who gleefully came up with books and films about the assassination of George W. Bush.

Decent people should have shunned those who gleefully came up with invasions about the assassination(sic) of Iraqis.
Fixed that for ya, Peter.
Would that had been the case in 2004.

Hmmm.
@ Tom M
Astonishing
1. "Decent people should have shunned those who gleefully came up with invasions about the assassination(sic) of Iraqis."
I think this is a commentary on the invasion of Iraq. But the wording is ... clumsy. And I'm trying to be nice here.
Funny how all those people shedding tears for Iraqis never seemed to give a damn when Democrats were in the White House.
2. "Fixed that for ya, Peter."
Doesn't appear to me that you fixed anything.
3. "Would that had been the case in 2004."
Which would have been a year too late to influence the invasion of Iraq since that happened in 2003. As for the Presidential election in 2004 I'm curious as to how it could have affected it since both candidates favored the invasion. Bush as President and John Kerry as a US Senator having voted for the invasion.

Just because something is funny doesn't mean it isn't true or serious. Sometimes reality is funny.

65% think Reynolds was "deadly serious," according to the poll on his own site.
Me, I think he was "kidding on the square." But if he was, 65% or more didn't get the kidding part.
Posted by: Patterico | Monday, September 06, 2010 at 05:31 PM
Patterico, the kidding part was Glenn running a reader poll. Did you not catch that? Remember you ran a "reader poll" to cover for your hit job on Stacy McCain. The joke is on you.
Posted by: Joe | Monday, September 06, 2010 at 10:47 PM
Hmmm.
I had no idea that the Washington Examiner was the right-wing version of Cracked magazine.
Does anybody really think that Glenn Reynolds would pen an article filled with snark in the Washington Examiner a couple days after a violent crazy left-wing eco-freak held 3 people hostage?

Joe you make the internet less pleasant sometimes
Posted by: happyfeet | Monday, September 06, 2010 at 11:41 PM
Patterico just wants to be popular.
http://www.bing.com/videos/watch/video/wicked-popular/b9af81d143a7b30d8223b9af81d143a7b30d8223-168539718492?q=youtube%20wicked%20popular&FORM=VIRE5
If that means throwing a conservative under the bus, Patterico will do what he needs to do.
Or he will run a reader poll.

Joe, are you still upset that I banned you for starting blog fights?
You must not have gotten the message: I unbanned everyone. Even you. A few days ago.
Doesn't mean that I respect you for trying to start (or rekindle) blog fights, which seems to be your central mission everywhere you go -- including this thread.
But I unbanned everyone because I am bored by, and tired of, the blog fights and the lingering resentments.
You can try to restart these fights if you like. Me, I'm over it.

I stopped reading Patterico when I realized he only criticized those to the right of him. Got any "reasonable conservative" gigs Patterico? I didn't think so.
I think Patterico will go the Charles Johnson route as soon as he decides that's where the Dinero is.

Pat, you are what you are.
As for banning me, I took that as a sign of something good.
And happy, it is what it is. Tell Jeff about it next time you are over his place.

Hmmmm.
Frankly what I thought was amusing was the Patterico's post about unbanning everyone.
Money quote:
"I’m dissatisfied with the way discussions go here and I want to do some things to shake things up. One of the problems I see is a lack of dissent — in part because I think people jump down dissenters’ throats.
So I am welcoming dissenters. Including anyone who has been banned."
*shrug* what is the logical result of getting rid of people who disagree? ... Little Green Footballs.

This comment shows you never read me, since I spend 99 percent of my time criticizing the left.
I was also banned by Charles Johnson.
As he bans people, I am unbanning people and welcoming dissent.
Try actually reading instead of just pretending that you have. Or don't. Either is good for me.
Joe: Jeff knows.
