I don't know if he even drinks, but Letterman is starting to look like a used up old drunk. Watch him go on about getting the facts right, while getting them completely wrong. It isn't about facts at all with these people, it's about the narrative. Of course, the idiot Maddow just helps him along.

What difference does it make if he gets the facts right or wrong when there's no one there to point it out? As far as his audience is concerned, he's telling the truth. Sooner or later it becomes THE truth.

Facts???.....Facts????
Weeeeee dont neeeeed no stinking facts!
Posted by: JustOneMan | Thursday, August 05, 2010 at 03:10 PM
no such thing as bad press ... this is the fatal error these libs make ... Brietbart gets invited to defend himself to a national audience on various shows becasue of this sort of nonsense ... and instead of showing up looking to make excuses or apologize he shows up guns blazing holding the righteous shield of the truth and a clear consience ...
plays right into his hands ...
Posted by: Jeff | Thursday, August 05, 2010 at 03:18 PM
Well...he is telling the truth.
And it is based on facts.
Too bad Dave isn't black, as then Dan could joke about him drinking malt liquor.
Posted by: itsMike2Cents | Thursday, August 05, 2010 at 03:23 PM
The only funny part about David Letterman is that next to NBC Today Show, his show is NYC's #2 TOURIST TRAP.
Posted by: syn | Thursday, August 05, 2010 at 03:36 PM
"Too bad Dave isn't black, as then Dan could joke about him drinking malt liquor."
are you saying only black people drink only malt liquor - sounds racist to me.

mikeNOsense;
Every word Letterman said is, IN FACT, a lie.
And NOBODY can sue him for defamation, for the very reasons we've discussed.
And, of course, both your lack of integrity AND your racism is clearly on display here...
as usual.
Posted by: Ragspierre | Thursday, August 05, 2010 at 04:22 PM
Ragspierre,
I honestly thought you were smarter.
Ok, pay attention now - my 'malt liquor' remark was an obvious reference and rag on Dan's last post.
Duh. And double duh.
But regardless, how sad yet entertaining to see you sloppily and carelessly tossing' about accusations of racism.
Quite simply: you hypocrite.
Really.
Wonder if you truly have any convictions, beyond what 'side' you are on.
And the aforementioned leaves little reason to address your 'lack of integrity' line...lord, the irony.
Posted by: itsMike2Cents | Thursday, August 05, 2010 at 04:38 PM
I'll stand on my statement. I don't think your "malt liquor" shot was funny. It depended on a racial stereotype that you have no trouble using.
You made a statement about Letterman's series of lies. Your statement was a lie. A demonstrable lie.
My convictions are pretty much...on racial issues...identical to M.L.King's.
Posted by: Ragspierre | Thursday, August 05, 2010 at 04:47 PM
Lefty have no compunction about being racist when the mood hits. And then again when trying to dig themselves out of the pit they dug for themseles.
November will tell if Americans are awake and have not yet reached the tipping point. Romans 1:18-32.

Ha ha ha, you almost tricked me into watching David Letterman and Rachel Maddow.
Posted by: bo | Thursday, August 05, 2010 at 04:55 PM
A few years ago some friends of mine were at Indy, and David Letterman was sitting next to them. At the end of the race, he got up to leave and thanked them for not bothering him.
They were stunned into silence by his implication that everyone had to gave a crap about who he was.
I long for some self-important twit like Letterman to say something like that to me, I will lean in and say sotto voce, "Who are you?"
Posted by: Mr. W | Thursday, August 05, 2010 at 04:57 PM
Watch him go on about getting the facts right, while getting them completely wrong.
No deal, Dan. That would require me to watch David Letterman.
Posted by: John | Thursday, August 05, 2010 at 04:58 PM
Wait, Maddow complaining about a political hack organization?
As if MSNBC is the first place I go for the facts.
She's delusional about her place of employment.
Posted by: wilky | Thursday, August 05, 2010 at 05:00 PM
Is that ratings supernova Rachel Maddow?
Posted by: bandit | Thursday, August 05, 2010 at 05:03 PM
Oh really, you 'stand by' your statement.
Your whole whine for the last week is about false accusations of racism.
Dan wrote this:
"What is it AP is saying exactly? Black people shouldn't be expected to control themselves around beer? We don't even know if it was malt liquor, for heaven's sake??? Geez! And don't knock Colt 45."
My comment is in obvious reference to his lame joke..and in a critical way.
And you write that my 'racism is clearly on display'.
You. Are. A. Hypocrite.
Convictions?
Ha.
G'night, hypocrite.
Posted by: itsMike2Cents | Thursday, August 05, 2010 at 05:04 PM
itsMike2Cents,
it is absolutely a racist comment. It wasn't addressed to anyone in particular, you did not preface it with, 'Hey, Ragspierre', you left it hanging out there with no context to support your lame attempt to divert your racism onto another.
As a former Dem who grew up on Manhattans West Side, I saw literally millions of people like you- Racists to the core. But because you are politically correct you feel all is forgiven.
Remember, you and your fellow travelers are supporters of the Grand Cyclops himself, who rose to number 1 in the Senate hierarchy. Despicable.

Is that Kagens younger sister ?
Posted by: Jeff | Thursday, August 05, 2010 at 05:05 PM
Swift Boater,
Aptly named.
Posted by: itsMike2Cents | Thursday, August 05, 2010 at 05:11 PM
As I recall, Letterman had O'Reilly on once and at the end of the discussion, Letterman said something like "I don't understand a word you are saying, but it sounds like BS to me". It is too bad we have a talk show host who is in completely over his head if it isn't some starlet talking about her movie. Letterman thinks he is "edgy", but it is simply ignorance.
Posted by: Rick Caird | Thursday, August 05, 2010 at 05:11 PM
Alice Cooper once said, "People who get their political views from rock stars are MORONS." I think Cooper's law can be extended to talk-show hosts.
Posted by: bbbeard | Thursday, August 05, 2010 at 05:13 PM
Dave Letterlib thinks everyone has forgot about his female staffer sexual scandal and adultery and he can resume his role as lib preacher of the late night airwaves. He disgusts me like the sight of sanctimonious Democrat ex-Governor Eliot Spitzer.
Posted by: indy1 | Thursday, August 05, 2010 at 05:25 PM
mikeNOsense:
I won't pile on. You've been screwed to the wall by others on your racism.
On the integrity side, you are simply a liar, as is Letterman.
Under the NYT v. Sullivan standard, he can't be sued, any more than COULD Breitbart under better facts than those that...you know...EXIST.
Just for clarity: Sherrod, IF she file a defamation suit against Breitbart, would be poured out of court. She IS a racist AND a class bigot...at the VERY least.
Buh-bye, idiot....!!! Sleep tight.
Posted by: Ragspierre | Thursday, August 05, 2010 at 05:28 PM
Letterman got it all wrong. Breitbart's motive was not to show that Sherrod was racist, but to provoke an anti-racist, knee-jerk reaction from a declaredly post-racial administration. I'd say he was successful at that.
Posted by: jgg | Thursday, August 05, 2010 at 05:38 PM
Let me point out though that while you might know the real story, millions of his viewers do not and will not care to learn otherwise.
Posted by: JeremyR | Thursday, August 05, 2010 at 06:12 PM
swift boater, you neglected to thank Mikesenseless for the compliment. You are aptly named. You are pointing out the godawful lies of people like Mikesenseless, John F'n Kerry [has he actually released all those military documents like he promised?], Dan Rather, and now David Letterman [to say nothing of grotesque lies of Rachel Madcow]. So far, Mikesenseless is responding precisely as John F'n Kerry did to the Original Swift Boaters: more lies, obfuscation, dodging, ducking, screaming "refuted"!! despite offering no evidence at all.
I wonder if Mikesenseless is married to an heiress, looks kind of Frenchy, and has a magic hat [and a multi-million dollar boat]??
Posted by: JorgXMcKie | Thursday, August 05, 2010 at 06:18 PM
Does it seem a bit ironic for a guest on Letterman to say to him
"You can't count on people who are unscrupulous to stop doing unscrupulous things"
(Well, maybe unless, it ends up in court. And even then....)
Posted by: c3 | Thursday, August 05, 2010 at 06:51 PM
Please..just because you are on national tv, don't feel compelled to consider the many other more disturbing comments Sherrod made in that speech..and the disturbing reactions by the NAACP audience.
But thank you for bringing up Philly baton man and Pimp advocacy, Inc. It's good of you to keep some of the list alive..seeing how it all gets shoved aside by the next round of lunacy.
I wonder if Dave did Maddow after the show. I hear he likes that hot librarian look for his interns.
Posted by: Rich | Thursday, August 05, 2010 at 07:42 PM
Dave doesn't give a crap about getting this right, and Rachel Maddow is a leftist liar misrepresenting EVERYTHING.
Screw em both.
Posted by: jgreene | Thursday, August 05, 2010 at 08:01 PM
I LOOOOVE that Letterman is such a dolt and Collectivist tool that he's keeping this pot stirred.
ALLLLL GOOD.
Posted by: Ragspierre | Thursday, August 05, 2010 at 08:18 PM
Ho Hum. All this proves is that David Letterman is still the DNC's biyotch. We won't speak of the Madcow.
Posted by: RebeccaH | Thursday, August 05, 2010 at 08:40 PM
They wanna "Fan this flame", says Letterman?
This is the fundamental false premise these folks try to feed us. The LEFT is who is constantly fanning the flames, for the express purpose of trying to taunt others into reacting badly to their smears and jeers. They're the Eddie Haskel of politics.
Breitbart was REACTING to THEIR fanning the flames by accusing tea party-ers of being racist simply by making things up.
Covering the new black panthers was a REACTION to the injustice of not prosecuting them for blatant violation of the voting rights act.
The right, and/or the religious right, rarely if ever "fan flames". They merely react to others' insults to their sensibilities. But the left has it down to such an art form they can pull this kind of stunt off on national TV without so much as singeing an eyebrow.

I wish Joe Wilson had been in that studio audience.
Posted by: Dan Cleary | Thursday, August 05, 2010 at 10:27 PM
Wait, Letterman's still on? I remember him from back in the day. It got old. In about 1993.
Posted by: Jim Ryan | Thursday, August 05, 2010 at 10:48 PM
remember when dan rather reported on the bush national guard document and then dave railed on dan for getting the facts wrong? oh, wait...
Posted by: JS | Thursday, August 05, 2010 at 11:02 PM
I think Dave was projecting a bit when he told his Bill O'Reilly story... didn't Dave used to be a weatherman?
Posted by: FS | Thursday, August 05, 2010 at 11:17 PM
Letterman looks like he is close to being terminal
Posted by: foxyman | Friday, August 06, 2010 at 09:19 AM
Dave is stupid and not funny. Rachel is gay and angry
Posted by: racist boy | Friday, August 06, 2010 at 09:40 AM
WHEN black people themselves STOP making fun of their 'malt liquor' tendacies: THAN scream racism. Otherwise, I will be watching to make sure your out there in internet land policing ALL the african american blogs who ARE racist towards 'whitey'..
In regards to how dead journalism is, did anyone watch dufus on TV last night, and when SHOWN history said: I read the history books... well reading something that some left leaning publisher PUT OUT AS FACT is NOT reading. One has to dig to find the truth. Always. Anyone that takes what we currently see via the MSM as factual deserves a swift kick in the booty.
Posted by: TC | Friday, August 06, 2010 at 12:21 PM
Facts! We don't need no stinkin' facts!
Posted by: john | Friday, August 06, 2010 at 12:23 PM
I wouldn't waste 2 seconds listening to this asshole.
Posted by: mark | Friday, August 06, 2010 at 12:43 PM
So Dave has turned his show into a political commentary show!? How long can he keep a show
this boring.?
And both he an his guest are wrong in their commentary. Fox didn't even mention the story until
the white house ruled that she should lose her job, and she was fired.
As for Andrew Breitbart he has said over and over, but no one bothers to listen, that his intention
with this story was not the women speaking or what she was saying. It was the audience reaction
that he was concerned about. Anyone who bothers to listen to what's going on in the audience
should ask themselves why these people are laughing and cheering her raciest actions.
Posted by: Bronco46 | Friday, August 06, 2010 at 06:12 PM
rachel is a girl's name. That was Richard maddow.
and Letterman is an asshole- he used to be funny, then he got all liberal horses' ass political, and he's dead to me
Posted by: jONES | Friday, August 06, 2010 at 08:50 PM
OMG
What bothers me the most is not these two masturbating each others minds but the reaction of the useful idiot audience.
They especially Madow do the very thing they accuse "the right" of doing.
Posted by: Rick Rosenberger | Saturday, August 07, 2010 at 08:08 AM
Ever notice that you never see Rachel Maddow and Al Franken in the same place at the same time? Could they be the same person?
On the clip, Maddow and Letterman are clearly in the same camp. You have to expect nothing other than false premises, demonization tactics and standard Left Wing talking points from these two.
