You're completely off about his problem.

He is suffering from Hepatitis C. As treatment, he's been undergoing aggressive therapy with Ribavirin and Interferon.

Between the disease and the drugs, his liver is badly damaged and he's suffered thyroid problems. It's also affected his brain.

Arguably a person in that kind of condition probably should have resigned from office long since. But we should be grateful to him at the very least because he's the one who defeated Cynthia McKinney.

In the mean time, it comes across as mean and petty to mock a man for his medical problems.

In the first place, Steven, this is the first I'm hearing of his condition. So, I somewhat resent your calling me mean and petty. Perhaps you might have asked if I was aware. In the 2nd place, via Google - July 8, 2010 (my B-day Woo Hoo!): "Rep. Hank Johnson says he feels better than he has in years and is ready to return to Washington.

And, finally, if he's unfit, you're correct, he should step down as disabled. But as long as he serves in a well-paid official capacity, I expect him to be up to his job and fully accountable for his actions and words.

Hank is premium quality Obama White House staff material. More warm and fuzzy than Van Jones. What's he doing in Congress?
