Any notion that I've manipulated, or otherwise edited clips of Charles Sherrod to malign him has always been ridiculous. I haven't done such a thing in six-years and wouldn't begin, now. The evidence of that has always been readily available for an interested party above a junior high school-level of Internet savvy given the info I provided in my post.
Here is the full 26 minute speech from UVA Lawshool, where Charles Sherrod keynoted "Fifty-Years after the Sit-Ins." Media Matters either wasn't up to that simple task, or was only looking for something to use against me by emailing.
Rev. Charles Sherrod Delivers Keynote Address at Race and Law Conference
In response to Rush Limbaugh, no, at no time does he denounce racism in the speech, nor does he say a word about any concept of racial harmony, as near as I can recall after listening to it in full twice. And the context of the curious clip below is also complete.
Rush: "Again, we don't know the context. He could have disavowed racism at some point in the speech prior to these comments. He could have disavowed racism at some point in the speech after these comments. All we have is what we played."
I'm not an unfair person. I suppose the notion of laying down one's life to save black children when you know who and where the would be offenders work and live could be broadly interpreted. But he didnt say, dedicate one's life, or career, or anything else - he said, someone must lay down their life to save them. And not long before that in the full speech, he also talks about bullets flying in his past and not fearing death. So, who knows?
Perhaps Joan Walsh, who seems to be cowering, unable to defend her hero's words, could reach out to him and see what he may have actually meant to say. Otherwise, Joan, a hero whose words you can't defend doesn't seem like much of a hero to me at all.
Finally, as this clip makes clear - he is a collectivist, in fact, a Marxist, so far as I can tell. And given that his wife has been offered this job in USDA when she thinks just like him, I am left wondering why - given the Sherrod's political and economic views?
Shirley Sherrod's USDA Job Offer: Deputy Director of the Office of Advocacy and Outreach

Sounds like an unabashed communist to me.

Toward the end, he's talking about "we". He uses the term as a Black Separatist.

Still determined to smear at any cost. Remarkable. I'd get it if she had done something awful. But to go on this fishing expedition looking for any damaging bits of evidence against a woman who was clearly wronged by the right (and for a while by the media) is so...so...so Dan Riehl. Must we destroy this woman and her family? Is it really a necessary mission? And on top of that, no one's buying it. These posts speak volumes about the attackers, not the victims.

[But to go on this fishing expedition looking for any damaging bits of evidence against a woman who was clearly wronged by the right..]
How was she wronged by the right?
She was shown on a video tape talking about her own discriminatory actions, and no amount of Leftist double-speak changes that fact. She discriminated against the white farmer based on his race. Period. And the NAACP audience she was describing it to cooed and "mmm-hmmm"-ed their approval of that discrimination...which was clearly Breitbart's point in posting the video, as evidenced by the fact that when he posted the video, the headline he chose was "Video Proof - The NAACP Awards Racism - 2010".
Furthermore, care to name the right-winger who fired her from her job?
Posted by: rvastar | Tuesday, July 27, 2010 at 02:52 PM
Mrs. Sherrod was wronged by the Obama administration that fired her. Of course the rest of us were wronged by the Obama administration that hired her. As for the rest, BigGovernment et al. they merely showed an bit of a speech she gave that was well recieved by Racists and Socalists. The shame is that anyone would seek out such a venue, or if invited, would go.

Richard, MS Sherrod said something so stupid as to be unbelievable for a government official. She said that opposition to ObamaCare(tm) was because he is black. That is stupid and at least borderline racist - de fact to charging opponents as racists. But what about opposition to HillaryCare(tm) and RomneyCare(tm)?
Her family holds beliefs that if held by whites about blacks would be grounds for public lashing. So there.

Shut up, the only people not "buying" this are the barking moonbats circling their wagons in a vain attempt to fend off the coming reenactment of "The Battle of the Little Big Horn," with the role of the 7th calvery being played by the sniveling leftists if this nation.
I plan on enjoying the show - especially the scalping.
PS: Tell Uncle Soros to pay you better. It has to be particularly hard on the self esteem to be a paid internet forum troll.

Does the name "Charles Pickering" ring any bells?
The left has been smearing folks as racists on far less evidence for years.

I have to point out that she was fired when they thought she had eschewed racism. It wasn’t until after they viewed the rest of the video that they confirmed that not only is she still a racist, but she had a Marxist conversion as well (probably because of her husband). Not until finding out that she was still of like mind did the NAACP and WH apologize and offer her a new job with a call from the President.

Black racists - but then again, that's redundant.

The fact that she was fired by the Obama administration and summarily tongue-lashed by the NAACP is merely proof that both of those organizations are run by knee-jerking children. They are supposed to be at the pinnacle of their respective fields (name:Obama, field:executive politician, name:Jealous, field:race baiter), but they have less diligence and maturity than a junior high school model UN.

come ON, folks. they've got a son named Kenyatta (Jomo Kenyatta, famous Kenyan communist, Mau Mau rebellion, Kenyan African Union, first prime minister of the "new" socialist nation of Kenya) and a daughter named RUSSIA (named before wall came down, clearly a salute to the Soviets)...
how much more do you need to know about the Sherrods? THEY ARE BARACK AND MICHELLE OBAMA. They share so much, ideologically, they are INDISTINGUISHABLE.
For all we know, Jomo Kenyatta might have been whipped right next to Barack's grandfather. No WONDER the Churchill bust went back to England!
These people ARE reverend Wright. They ARE Obama. they are Obama's communist FATHER, also from Kenya.
America's racial unrest was justified, but it was also AMPLIFIED considerably by Soviet money and influence, as they sought to destabilize us domestically so that we'd have trouble fighting the spread of Communism abroad. Same with Arafat in the 1970s, a paid creature of the KGB on every level. From Paul Robeson to W.E.B. Dubois to Charles Sherrod to Van Jones to Michelle Obama, they are all LEFTIST RADICALS WHO HATE AMERICA and who believe America's "rich white people" are the great evil of the world.
God help us. This guy Obama is SERIOUS.

Mr. and Mrs. Sherrod are both racists, Marxists and racial con artists. As long as the NAA[L}CP suspports the Sherrods, the NAA[L}CP has target on her back.

Smear?!?
The one smearing in this video is hisself. With HIS OWN WORDS. And so did la femme Sherrod! (Watch HER ENTIRE VIDEO!)
Here, YOU're the one doing the smearing...
Posted by: newton | Tuesday, July 27, 2010 at 03:25 PM
So the Sherrod kids are named "Kenyatta" and "Russia"??!! LOL. What a shocker! I'd have thought their names would be "Ayn" and "Dagny." Because, you know, the Sherrods have been misrepresented, and they're actually radical Objectivists.

'I suppose the notion of laying down one's life to save black children..." That would have been the Union Army in the 1860s. There are cemetaries full of the 300,000 Union war dead that paid that price. Ingrattitude is ugly as is Mr. Sherrod's racism and marxism. And for those of us whose ancestors paid that price, the whole notion of reparations is nothing short of theft.
Posted by: RKV | Tuesday, July 27, 2010 at 03:36 PM
If anyone, or any group owes American blacks "reparartions", it's their ancestry in Africa. They sold them into slavery. From what I can determine, they still do.
I understand Africa is lovely this time of year, go for it. Just pick an African nation that isn't being devoured by Islam, or involved in an uncivil, civil conflict.
Posted by: JP | Tuesday, July 27, 2010 at 03:52 PM
This harridan wasn't canned because of her overt racism, she was dumped because of her pivotal role in the Pigford farming reparations scandal. How can 80,000 black people make claims for a portion of the government settlement when less than half that many were actual farmers? And just who, exactly, managed to get their sticky mitts on the biggest chunk of change being extorted from the taxpayers this time? I'll give you three guesses and the first two don't count. Oh no, the word came down from the White House to get her out and shut her up before anyone started digging and discovered her part in that scam. As dangerous as she and her husband are to Liberty, she's far more dangerous to the Obama's and their gang. Follow the money people, always, follow the money. That's all that matters to these thieves.

you can't be smeared by your own words and deeds ... you can be fired and exposed as a con artist and marxist which is what is happening ...

>"Still determined to smear at any cost."
Yeah, it's really "smearing" somebody to quote them speaking their own words. How awful!

I'm a little unclear on how people with beliefs like this can be called Marxists. Except for the general class warfare bit, they're not particularly Marxist. As I understand it, Marxism includes a rigid belief that "the workers" rightfully own the "means of production" and should claim full ownership. To listen to a real Marxist carry on, it's all "the workers" this and "the workers" that, ad nauseum. But the modern types often called Marxists are clearly not concerned at all with workers. It seems that to them any parasite is entitled to a free ride, or at least an endless stream of handouts; "work" is purely optional. So if they're not quite Marxists, and not quite Stalinists, and not quite fascists, what are they? Black Liberation Theologists seems an inordinately clumsy phrase. Maybe just plain old Black Racists will have to do.
On a personal note, I hate Marxists, fascists, Stalinists, and racists of any sort. Go ahead, denounce me as a "hater." That's the style nowadays.

i started looking at the weather underground stuff that beck talked about a couple of weeks ago. interesting stuff about the "black colony" in the US, the white capitalist exploitation and agents of white monopoly capital
they get pretty wacko about the southern question....i.e. the separation of the south and taking over the means of production
this stuff sounds pretty stupid to me, esp. after 40 years.

Why is "popularizing" a person's heartfelt, very important propaganda points a smear?
Posted by: mockmook | Tuesday, July 27, 2010 at 07:50 PM
If one can be smeared with one's own words, perhaps one should not speak.
Posted by: Bill Johnson | Tuesday, July 27, 2010 at 11:53 PM
The thing that we have to remember about liberals like "richard" is that, unlike conservatives, liberals actually believe that black people are inferior and need the plantation kindness of their white massas like richard in order to survive.
You would hold a white person accountable for their words. That's a given. But where conservatives fail, in the eyes of a liberal like richard, is that they fail to cut people slack based on their skin color and instead judge based on the content of character regardless of skin color.
Sherrod is black. Therefore, according to richard, it is unfair to hold her accountable in the same way that you would a white person. After all, richard and his liberal friends have made very clear that they're impressed if a black person is just "clean", and if they can speak without a "Negro dialect", they must be some kind of super-extraordinary messiah.

The right really needs to learn that a threshold requirement for "persuasive redefinition" is being persuasive. Currently you're all just making the case that you're bigots intent on pushing white fright, stocking racial animosity, and just generally being destructive to our nation.
Thanks for that. Orwell would giggle, even as he cried.

[Thanks for that. Orwell would giggle, even as he cried.]
You're absolutely right, since Orwell stock-n-trade was warning about the dangers of collectivist political ideologies...such as the one to which you subscribe.
He'd be especially tearful over the newspeak apparent when morons such as yourself attempt to spin Sherrod's self-admission of racist discrimination - along with the accepting utterances of NAACP members who witnessed it - into some sort condemnation of those who exposed it.
But then again, when you're dealing with intellectually dishonest Leftist hacks such as yourself, Orwell put it best when he said, "...it is the liberals who fear liberty and the intellectuals who want to do dirt on the intellect."
