While I completely understand Ace's reaction to the as yet unsupported accusations against Nikki Haley, I'm afraid I strongly disagree with his conclusion.
I don't know that I'd vote for Haley at this point, but I know for damn sure I'd vote for anyone other than Bauer.
If any thing, the exact opposite response is called for. And that's why I'm endorsing Nikki Haley for SC Governor. Without any serious proof of anything, there's no way I'm giving in to this type of BS in the very state where allegations of out of wedlock children derailed McCain in 2000. This looks like nothing more than a page from the same tired play book all over, again.
Folks' allegations never held up, as his claimed motivation didn't wash. How would it protect his wife for her to know that for years after ward, Folks has been praising a woman he allegedly slept with once, while going out of his way to point out how "hot" she was? That's total BS, as is much of what comes from the Daddy's basement dwelling misanthrope that is Will Folks.
Actually, what facts are known point more toward Folks getting cold feet after agreeing to push a smear he couldn't support, so a Bauer campaign consultant decided to take one for the team to try and put a failing campaign into a run-off. Any reward could come later, so I count the firing as BS, too.
We are never going to take government back by giving in to smear merchants and rumor mongers. The people of SC should base their decision on the candidates' records and statements of what they've done and would do going forward as regards South Carolina government.
And by that measure, Nikki Haley is the genuine reform candidate, wanting to accomplish good things for her state, bringing much needed changes. I've no intention of giving in to semi-connected wannabe king, or queen makers, simply desperate to put themselves on the map, no matter the cost to a good person and fine family.
I'd rather be a little wrong now, assuming any real proof of anything ever came out, which I currently doubt, than give in to low-life, bottom-feeders trying to find a safe rock to hide behind to secure their position in SC's political stream. Unless I see some actual proof of something - a precise time, a date, hotel room number and contemporaneous corroborating statements, I'm standing with Nikki Haley and her family. And I hope SC voters do, as well.
Bullchit from bullchit artists should not dominate our politics. From what I've seen, Nikki Haley deserves to win. And scumbags pushing unsupported rumors most certainly do not. That would be the only unforgiveable outcome should it come to pass in the whole sordid mess that is, evidently, just SC politics.

I agree with you 100%, nothing has been proven therefore there is no reason to waiver; Nikki Haley is the best candidate for South Carolina.
Even if she did have an affair (or multiple affairs), Niklki Haley is still the best candidate for South Carolina.

Bravo! I cannot for the life of me understand the logic of doing anything else here. Even if she lied through her teeth about all this - and there's NO credible evidence she did - she's still a million miles better than that sick freak Bauer who smeared her with it.
If I help support the smears by voting for somebody else because it "might be true" I'm just promoting more smears against more candidates down the line because I will have made it pay off for unethical sleaze merchants like Bauer.
That is a FAR more stupid & FAR more evil outcome than the worst case scenario of getting a Governor for a few years who might not have been faithful to her husband & tried to conceal it (and, mind you there's not been even a shred of evidence from a credible source that she wasn't!)
I'd be aiding & abetting the scum of the earth if I voted for the less professionally qualified candidate because of this now.
I fervently hope that the voters of SC send a message loud & clear to the twisted slimebuckets who did this that smearing doesn't pay. Make it backfire all over their sorry asses by putting an end to that filthy crooked pig Bauer's ignominious career once & for all with your votes for Nikki Hayley, Palmetto State Republicans!

Wow, what a surprise! Who wouldn't have thought Dan not not endorse Nikki Haley?
Btw the highly sought out blogger Dan Riehl's endorsement must be a game changer in the primary race! LMAO.

Dan - good points. I watched Haley’s response to the "one night stand" question, and she had a lot of confidence and was very compelling. I wonder, during the sex scandal Q & A, was Bauer waiting for Nikki to announce who he had sex with recently, it could explain the ridiculousness of the most recent claimant, his abrupt departure, and the azz clown reasoning that Bauer gave for letting him go and the timeline?

nice post Dan.
I started to do research on Haley when Palin endorsed her and have found a politican who's record I like. Palin I think made a good call on endorsing Haley and to be fair Mitt endorsed haley also. that fact that both endorsed her showed she is a strong candidate. Huck endorsed Bauer who appears to be the mudslinger here. that should also come as no surprise.
I agree with you that this type of politcs is disgusting and should be rejected not only because of the sleeze factor but also because of the sexism.
Female politicans should not have the threat of being called a whore over their heads if/when they decide to run for politcal races.

I hope Nikki Haley will win.

Jake Knotts called Nikki Haley a "raghead" on the air a short time ago.

Jeff
so the GOP establishment in SC is both sexist and racist. And then they wonder why they lose elections. the GOp elites in DC must knock these clowns down. I am starting to understand Graham if he is surrounded by these types of idiots no wonder he thinks his voters are racists when it comes to immigration.

I never have been able to understand personal smearing like this. "Sex scandals" make even less sense to me in politics than they do in entertainment news. I don't pay attention to it and don't understand why others do, no matter who the candidate is. I couldn't get the hype over Tiger Woods' personal problems and I don't get it over this either.
