As Democrats, when you've lost the Washington Post, you've lost the debate, Barry. That goes for San Fran Nanny, as well. If you want to wander through the political wilderness for a decade, or two - go for it. There won't be a lot of crumbs left for you to use to find your way back.
As a party, you're already likely going to have to pay big time for caving to the far Left as you have. Think post-McGovern on steroids, idiots. And don't think the center-Right won't continue to hunt you down and stomp you out for this travesty going forward. Obama is indeed your deliverer. But where that has left you, no major political party would want to be. Fools drunk with power are still but fools in the end.
The health-care debate has been going on longer than a year, and House members want to get it over with. They don't want it hanging over them during the Easter recess. President Obama wants progress to have been made before he leaves for Indonesia on Sunday. These are understandable desires, but they don't outweigh the need for a reasonable process on a matter of such importance.

There won't be anything to wander back to. Just think of all the wonderful things the incoming GOP majority can do with the Slaughter Rule...
Why, we can get rid of all those pesky amendments: the 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th, 13th, 14th, 15th, 20th, 22nd, 26th... why, it's almost as if the Democrats WANT that to happen...

in the grand scheme...
the party, built around govt spending, is about to start meeting the reality of failing to pay it's bills.
once you get over the dread, the awe of watching this all collapse, before one's eyes, in our time...we are witnessing a spectacular social darwinian(or malthusian) event.
300 years of representative govt, down the drain. i wonder what's next.

Once again the knuckle dragging GOP forgets they themselves used this procedure many, many times - without a peep from you dimwits. Only when the dems are doing the VERY SAME THINBG do you whine and moan about it. Maybe because there is a black man in the White House? Could that be it? What else would explain the fact that you are ok with repubs doing the VERY SAME THING which you are now griping about. That doesn't wash.
It might be ok with the dimwits because they don't know any better. They could research the procedure and figure out which party was 'abusing' it more, but that would require effort - and they are busy watching Beck cry.
People Please. It's ok to listen to the wackjobs - just please check the facts for yourselves. You are allowed to do that. You don't need to ask permission from Rush to double check all claims (dems and repubs). It's ok to find out for yourself what the real story is. You are allowed to do this. The authoritarians try and keep you down with fear and mis-placed patriotism (tea baggers), but you are allowed to make sure you understand the facts.
Please don't follow your media leaders. They are going to become rich, while they ruin America - and your lives.

sorry jimbo...
they still have to vote to "deem", which is the same thing as a yes vote. one could parse it over increasing the debt limit, but there wasn't a viable majority in the house that opposed the measure.
this time, there is a majority that opposes. a bipartisan majority. backed by the same people who will be voting in november.

"Try this: another American Revolution..."
the romantic in me, is long dead.
the conditions of the revolution were inspiring because it was brave, new world and becuase of the individuals who had the courage to hold onto their dream.
it is funny how obama made that comment about bitter clingers...
the people with the white knuckle grip are clutching their bag of entitlements. they don't understand what a ponzi scheme is, but when the dust settles, the only thing left will be 'god and guns' and those who held on.
