From Thomas Sowell's latest.
... the 2010 election may be the last chance to halt the dismantling of America. It can be the point of no return.
What Did You Do In The War, Daddy was a mid-sixties Blake Edward's comedy. The question is pertinent, though far from funny in current context, as a non-militaristic, political war of tremendous consequence plays out across America's political landscape as we approach November.
If you think the consequences of winning or losing are any less significant than they were in any previous American war, you're wrong. And the question, what did you do in it, is just as relative for American mothers, brothers, and sisters, as it is for daddies. The America bequeathed to future generations for the foreseeable future is the flag. And if liberty and democracy loving patriots do not capture it, it could be lost for all time.
Repeal may be a convenient political rallying point. Whether it's an effective solution remains to, hopefully, be seen. John Hawkins has another idea involving de-funding this power grab by a now purely Leftist federal government that effectively abandoned democracy and the Constitution right in front of the news media's cameras, which couldn't have cared less. So, don't look to the media as impartial, let alone an ally. We're on our own, now.
I see Sissy Willis is fighting mad and ready to star slinging mud, or an equivalent, with Nancy Pelosi, if need be. Good!
We'll need every able mind and body we can muster as we go forward, as go forward we must. There are bound to be political skirmishes in Washington as we approach the next large battle in November. You can watch this battle play out, or you can join the cause. But don't kid yourself that you can hide from the impact of the outcome. No American will be able to do that.
If one day someone asks you, what did you do in the war? The time for answering that question is now, not then. It can only be answered with actions, not words.

Hawkins is right. Repeal is certainly the rallying cry and principle to put forward in the next rounds of elections. But the key is to put sand in the gears. If the Republicans can gain control of the House in the fall, they will control the purse strings. All the funds that need to be appropriated for administration can be zeroed out by the House. Unlike repeal, this course of action is practical and realistic.
The weakness of this approach are the assumptions.
1. The Republicans gain control of the House
2. The Republicans make gains in the Senate, but not control
3. The Republican leaders in both bodies can hang together consistently. In other words they must be completely committed! They must be ready and willing to fund the government for the next two years by a series of continuing resolutions.

Dear President Obama,
My name is Harold Estes, approaching 95 on December 13 of this year. People
meeting me for the first time don't believe my age because I remain wrinkle
free and pretty much mentally alert.
I enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1934 and served proudly before, during and after WW II retiring as
a Master Chief Bos'n Mate. Now I live in a "rest home" located on the western
end of Pearl Harbor , allowing me to keep alive the memories of 23 years of
service to my country.
One of the benefits of my age, perhaps the only one, is to speak my mind, blunt and
direct even to the head man.
So here goes.
I am amazed, angry and determined not to see my country die before I do, but you seem
hell bent not to grant me that wish.
I can't figure out what country you are the president of.
You fly around the world telling our friends and enemies despicable lies
like:
" We're no longer a Christian nation"
" America is arrogant" - (Your wife even
announced to the world," America is mean-
spirited. " Please tell her to try preaching
that nonsense to 23 generations of our
war dead buried all over the globe who
died for no other reason than to free a
whole lot of strangers from tyranny and
hopelessness.)
I'd say shame on the both of you, but I don't think you like America, nor do I see an
ounce of gratefulness in anything you do, for the obvious gifts this country has
given you. To be without shame or gratefulness is a dangerous thing for a man
sitting in the White House.
After 9/11 you said," America hasn't lived up to her ideals."
Which ones did you mean? Was it the notion of personal liberty that 11,000 farmers and
shopkeepers died for to win independence from the British? Or maybe the ideal
that no man should be a slave to another man, that 500,000 men died for in the
Civil War? I hope you didn't mean the ideal 470,000 fathers, brothers,
husbands, and a lot of fellas I knew personally died for in WWII, because we
felt real strongly about not letting any nation push us around, because we stand
for freedom.
I don't think you mean the ideal that says equality is better than discrimination. You
know the one that a whole lot of white people understood when they helped to get
you elected.
Take a little advice from a very old geezer, young man.
Shape up and start acting like an American. If you don't, I'll do what I can to see you
get shipped out of that fancy rental on Pennsylvania Avenue . You were elected
to lead not to bow, apologize and kiss the hands of murderers and corrupt
leaders who still treat their people like slaves.
And just who do you think you are telling the American people not to jump to conclusions
and condemn that Muslim major who killed 13 of his fellow soldiers and wounded
dozens more. You mean you don't want us to do what you did when that white cop
used force to subdue that black college professor in Massachusetts , who was
putting up a fight? You don't mind
offending the police calling them stupid but you don't want us to offend Muslim
fanatics by calling them what they are, terrorists.
One more thing. I realize you never served in the military and never had to defend your
country with your life, but you're the Commander-in-Chief now, son. Do your
job. When your battle-hardened field General asks you for 40,000 more troops to
complete the mission, give them to him. But if you're not in this fight to win,
then get out. The life of one American soldier is not worth the best political
strategy you're thinking of.
You could be our greatest president because you face the greatest challenge ever
presented to any president.
You're not going to restore American greatness by bringing back our bloated economy.
That's not our greatest threat. Losing the heart and soul of who we are as
Americans is our big fight now.
And I sure as hell don't want to think my president is the enemy in this final
battle.
Sincerely,
Harold B. Estes

If anyone has commenter privileges at Hot Air, would you please re-post the above letter from Harold B. Estes? I'm sure the prez threw this one out from his selected letters from Americans he claims to read.
Thank you

Dear Mr. Harold B. Estes: Thank you for your open letter to President44.This letter should be required reading by our journalists and politicians who have an obligation to our Constitution. However, Mr. Sowell is correct when he states:" We're on our own, now."

God bless you, Mr. Estes.

In two parts:
Stoopak, last night ... how pathetic. Unbelievably so. Geebus, like a little school girl, crying: 'he needs to apologise again' (waaah waaah). I watched incredulously.
Moral compass? Integrity? These people need to seek immediate medical attention, at the Obamacare clinic (of course after the requisite 42 day wait, for an appointment). Obvious veektums ... uh duh Brain Gobblers from the Planet Stinky Pinky. Infookin insane.
Another commenter (in yesterday thread) about sleep disruption. How strange ... I hadn't had a problem getting to sleep, a single night in the past year. A'tall. Was up most of Sunday night, on into early morning. And as the commenter said, he imagines he wasn't alone. I imagine millions. Millions filled with worry.
But as the march to crush the fascists gets underway, I was able to take some calm from the storm yesterday. Watching Virginia Attorney General Cuccenelli, on Greta last night. The argument so clear, so sensical. The bill has ZERO chance of ever becoming the law of the land (and yeah the wager window is open).
And yet, looking at my local (oh so) smelly commie rag (duh L.A. Daily News). And the entirety of MSM/traitor media ... one would have thought that the pink sparkle ponies had already arrived. Overnight. Were already secreted in our garages. Awaiting. All we gotta do is giddyup. Utopia here we come! As we hold hands, singing come-buy-a (forced/coerced insurance plan ... from a private company, under penalty of law). And pray Pharaoh will regale our fair town, with a visit, during his victory tour (ding dong the Conservative Witch is dead ...).
Credit Johnnie Mac for taking a firm stance... same Kristol. Same Palin [but perhaps altering course a little, after (? ... not sure of the linear time frame) her rather milktoast internet/Twitter post]. Thanks Brit Hume (on O'Reilly), for the calm assured reason (apologies if I left anyone out).
Silence = the death of America.
In all its splendor. In all its glory.

Part two:
And while I am enraged (though fair to say not ready to burst a blood vessel, like Sunday and Monday). I am not encouraging a physical insurrection. But the real reality. One all too plain to see, is that Pharaoh is fomenting one.

Possibly encouraging ... for whatever deranged personal/partisan/political gain (the black youngster, to the pwezzidunce's side during the signing of the bill, was a nice touch Barry). But I'll leave the conspiracies, to those so inclined (mooselimb sez it all for me).
This is our country. As in the c i t i z e n s of these United States. And for a so-called 'constitutional expert' (Pharaoh F*ckface) to engage in the wanton/wreckless desctruction of that cherished document?
Speaks for itself. They can only take the freedoms we give up. And I'm not feeling charitable. Obama is history alright. His administration is Past tense. Just like the health care bill.
This crisis will grow, expand. Will try this great nation. As much any challenge come before it. It will get ugly. Might f*cking ugly. But I have every faith that we will prevail ... of this I have no doubt.
None.
[Apologies for the length of the screed (who ya gunna call)]
P.S. (more media review)
(last night ... C-Span) Homerun Bibi, Grand fookin slam (ssssnarf).
P.P.S.
From today's Drudge:
THANKS FOR MAKING MONDAY THE SECOND MOST-VIEWED DAY IN 15-YEAR HISTORY OF DRUDGE REPORT! THE PAGE WAS SEEN 36,407,277 TIMES FROM OVER 50 COUNTRIES [including 4 vists from Swaziland, and 17 from Malawi].
Read it and weep Bambi (you can lead a pink sparkle pony to water ... but ya cain't make him think).
G*d Bless America!

Third the solid work Mr. Estes. We are humbly gratefull. Truly.
My only eeety bitty critique (if I may?).
"But if you're not in this fight to win,
then get out."
Should read: But if you're not in this fight to win,
then get the f*ck out.
But that's just me :-)

Can't say as I do, Terry, but I did blog it, if that's okay (and yes, you got the hat tip).
