Stupak: Dem Leadership Wants More Children Aborted To Cut Costs

NRO's the Corner has a very revealing interview with Rep. Bart Stupak. Somehow I doubt his leadership wants this out there. He claims they are now ignoring those who can't be coerced, including with pressure from the unions.

Unbelievable, well, it should be. But I guess not. 

What are Democratic leaders saying?“If you pass the Stupak amendment, more children will be born, and therefore it will cost us millions more. That’s one of the arguments I’ve been hearing,”Stupak says. “Money is their hang-up. Is this how we now value life in America? If money is the issue — come on, we can find room in the budget. This is life we’re talking about.”

Update: Via Say Anything, evidently Pelosi finds abortions more efficient than tax cuts.

I'm posting this here instead of on the post below where the conversation started, so that it won't be passed over.

A few posts back, 2cents and Jimbo were talking tough about what pussies and pushovers right-wingers were, and how we couldn't possibly stand up to big tough tyrants like themselves.

These were the same things leftists were saying about the NRA, and gun owners generally, in the late Nineties, when Clinton was trying to curb gun rights.

How did that work out for you, gentlemen?

FWIW, it didn't take a "revolution" or violence; once the gun owners proved that they could bring down Smith and Wesson, when S&W caved to the Clinton lawsuits, the Democrats dropped gun control like a hot potato. As a result, we have today more gun owners with more guns, under less restrictions, than we did 10 years ago.

Similarly, I doubt that the Democrats will actually ride this through to the point of facing a revolution. If they do, the revolution is (1) very likely to succeed, (2) very unlikely to be a full-fledged war like the American Revolution, and (3) very likely to be much like the 1991 Russian Revolution--which is to say, that the decisive moment will be when the U.S. military refuses to murder their fellow citizens. The heroes of today's revolution won't be men with tricorner hats at Valley Forge; they'll be mothers who call their sons in the service on their cellphones, begging them not to engage in Tiananmen-type actions on their fathers and brothers.

If it does come to this--and I hope it won't--the Mike2Cents types aren't likely to come out well. People like Harry Reid will be able to hop on a plane to England; the Jimbos of the nation are going to be left to an angry populace, who remember their atrocities. And yes, they will commit atrocities; they live for the pleasure of hurting someone weaker than themselves, provided they have adequate backup.

And, BTW, I really have to doubt that vets will take the side of tyrants. From my observation, vehicles with a USMC sticker are at least 50% likely to have an NRA sticker as well. Ditto for veteran's license plates. I just don't see the average vet being comfortable taking the side of a bunch of low-rent bullies, paid by the SEIU to terrorize the weak.

If the lefties are lucky, they'll get out with only a half-decade in the political wilderness--as was the case with their attempt to crush gun owners in the Clinton era--instead of a full-fledged revolution.

Very, very nice commentary, Ken. In 99% of history, "low-rent bullies" like Jimbo will haul ass like a stuck pig when push comes to shove. In the other 1%, they have to be hung. I believe old Jimbo to be a 99 percenter. LOL.

As for the military, I have a son in the US Army, and I guarantee he won't fire on his fellow citizens protesting an out of control government. He will help them. As will 90% of his infantry unit.

Babies may be an expense up front but they grow up to be taxpayers who'll put more into the system than they take out. With the way the Democrats, and the Dutch think, you're right to point out, with a real world example, the practical result of their thinking.
