I wonder if the Politico was thinking of Pelosi's Baltimore roots when they went with this phrasing in sizing up Pelosi's challenges this year?
The “bullet in the head” factor: Pelosi insists she will fight for every Democratic seat this November. But as Election Day draws nearer, Pelosi will most likely have to make tough calls on which vulnerable Democratic candidates to help and which ones to cut loose. Those choices would cause conflict in her caucus and could threaten the Democratic majority if she picks poorly.
Internal polls look bad for the Democrats, and Charlie Cook has warned that the party may lose its majority in November.
As for whether she's a good Speaker, or not, she's pulled off some tough tricks, demonstrating a unique ability to keep people in line up until now. At the same time, when Obama punted major legislation her way, she often handed him back a headache. She's both good and bad, depending on your point of view.
Ultimately, what her winning the Speakership most represented was the ascendancy of the Far Left in the Democrat Party. In some ways, she already put a bullet in many member's heads come election day simply by being who she is.

At least Pelosi hasn't been indicted yet (Hastert) or filed for divorce while sleeping with a mistress (Gingrich), so I guess she is doing alright. You GOP types are funny. All God, all the time - except when it is inconvenient.

Pelosi's not Speaker next year. You can count on that.

this whole argument-
"the dems need to pass something, to prevent larger losses" is a joke.
the implication is that libs would stay home...accepting a gop alternative.
the number one reason they are going ahead with this, is that the unions healthcare plans are bankrupt. the 45 billion for gm? it went to shore up outlandish benefits for union members. If the healthcare plan, which can quickly accomodate the unions dumping their employees, doesn't pass, the democrat party loses their union support. many unions will just go belly up.
there is a reason andy stern is at the wh, and it is well worth mentioning that gm is NOT under stern. he split from the afl-cio, and has yet to get 'his guys' taken care of.

Nancy Most-Ethical-Congress-Ever Pelosi has turned a blind eye, and deaf ears towards all the Democrat scandals, whereas if the Republicans do anything(shame on them),the House 'Ethics' Commitee is on them like white on rice.
Her geriatric dementia shows up oftener and oftener.

Yeah...Live free or die, that's just what would happen. You might want to look at recent history for some factual clarification. Iraq, WMD's, Yoo, Addington, Bybee, Wolfowitz, Feith, Cheney (torture), Bush, etc...
Yeah, you on the right side all want ethics, up until you regain power - then not so much. Geez, shut up already! The entire planet has got your number - ZERO!

Pelosi is the worse Speaker of the House I have ever seen serve. And I am not a kid.

Oh and she is also a Teapartier. Insane, that woman. Only Democrats can get away with such lunacy.

"At least Pelosi hasn't been indicted yet (Hastert) or filed for divorce while sleeping with a mistress (Gingrich), so I guess she is doing alright."
Actually, she's already been nailed for violating Federal campaign finance laws.

Of course, the shrieking harpy claimed that anyone who was caught violating campaign finance laws was a criminal, should resign from all leadership positions, and should leave the House.
But she never intends to apply her own rhetoric to herself. She can't. She's just a hypocrite.

her idea of bipartisanship is when the senate dems change the house dems' bill.
"A bill can be bipartisan without bipartisan votes. Republicans have left their imprint."
i would read "imprint" as a euphemism for 'p*ssed all over this thing'.
