Update: Comments closed. I don't have time to mind the idiots and Lefty trolls who need to spew filth of no consequnce. yawn.
I'm not sure I quite understand this, given that cost is so important as a burden to taxpayers when it comes to health care. If Democrats want so badly to abort babies because of it, why are we bothering with someone who has a broken neck and back at 69? It sounds to me like she's pretty well used up and has probably been living off the taxpayers for plenty of years to begin with. Aren't we at least going to get a vote on it?
Sen. Reid's daughter Lana Reid Barringer, 48, who was driving the mini-van, and his wife, Landra G. Reid, 69, a passenger, were both injured. Landra suffered a broken back and a broken neck in the crash; Barringer suffered minor injuries, Sen. Reid's office said Thursday.
I realize her crook of a husband and his pals in Congress have excluded themselves from the mess they're going to compel everyone else to join, but we're still paying the bills, are we not? I don't see that she's worth it at this point, frankly. I can't recall her ever doing anything for me.
Come on, Harry - do your civic duty. The nation's broke and counting on you guy. Pull the plug and get back to work. And don't bill us for a full day today, either. This is no time to be sloughing off. Air freight her home, you can bury her during recess on your own time and dime. Or are you going to bill us for that, too?
Reid has stayed at his wife’s bedside throughout the day Friday and returned to the Capitol in the late afternoon.

If Pelosi has her way next week, this is not a 'modest proposal.'

You are a genius! "Righteous" outrage will out, wheels will spin, and your point will be front and center in the next news cycle: Socialized medicine and death panels for thee, but not for me. Throw the bums out!

You may have a more valid point than you realize. Fourteen years ago I was in a car accident and broke my back. I was in rehab for months. In addition to my GP I was seen regularly (weekly for the first four months) by an orthopedic, a neurologist and a physical therapist. I was on four different prescription drugs. Fortunately I had excellent insurance but I saw the bills and they were breathtaking. I doubt I would have been given the level of care I received if we had nationalized medicine and I was only thirty-eight at the time. No way in Hell that a 69 year old woman would receive that level of treatment under ObamaCare. She would be told to choose between "the red pill and the blue pill" and sent home to suffer.
Unless she happened to be a senator's wife.

I don't think a cost/analysis would be in her favor.

Shame on you all.
This is completely inappropriate and the kind of bloody stuff in which liberals dance joyfully.
While completely accepted and even applauded by a cretin like Alinksky and his followers, it is beneath the dignity of any human being.
We are better than this.
Posted by: Doc | Friday, March 12, 2010 at 09:10 PM
Yikes, Doc,
You're missing the point.
When liberals do stuff like this, they really think it's a good idea. For example, they really do think that death panels and pain pills are the way to go...for everyone else.
This post is just kind of pointing that out.
Posted by: Kensington | Friday, March 12, 2010 at 09:15 PM
Bummer Doc, I thought most people that read this site would have picked up on the irony of it all.
Posted by: astonerii | Friday, March 12, 2010 at 09:20 PM
Doc, Dr. Ezekiel Emanuel, the brother of White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel and health-policy adviser at the Office of Management and Budget says flat out that the old and disabled should be denied care to free up resources for the more deserving.
Mrs. Reid is old and will probably have some degree of disability. If she wasn't married to a party apparatchik, what do you think Reid, Obama, and the Emanuels would advocate for her?
It's not "beneath our dignity" to point out that the people who seek to control us are monsters.
Posted by: HeatherRadish | Friday, March 12, 2010 at 09:23 PM
We absolutely should euthanize Reid's wife.
Think of all the dentures that would pay for.

Excellent post and point. Check mate on the cancerous liberal snobs. You pretentious lemmings think this bill won't affect you. The glory lies in that I am healthier than the majority of the welfare entitlement whores and look forward to pissing on their graves after your 'free' care finds you no longer a wise investment to the collective.

We take great pride in knowing that OUR FOUNDER, was the original "Death Panelist."
Yes, he could have gone for emergency help and saved Mary Jo, before she suffcated to death, in an air-pocket. But at what "cost" to him personally? Surely he would have been arrested on the spot, for DUI,etc. And the Nation, would have been deprived of his leadership over the next 40 years.
When Obama/KennedyCare is passed, the question will eventually be asked - "What would Teddy do?" http://www.FATBOY.cc

It is beneath our dignity to engage in the airing of the concept to "air freight her home" as the ORIGINAL post stated.
Let the anti-life people to wallow in their evil valuations and judgments of human life. They will reap what they sow
To point out their hypocrisy and their evil is one thing, but the original post did not accomplish this.
Christians everywhere should pray for the recovery of Mrs. Reid, and that perhaps through this, her husband can see the evil that he does and repent.

The funny thing is...there are Republicans as well as Democrats who would limit American's right to say such things. We all think that good taste and our personal lifestyles should be legislated into law forcing others to live just the way we do...and punitive damages instituted against those who don't think, act and live as we do.
The other funny thing? Both sides make such statements and arguments, taking themselves seriously, while denying that they've ever said or done such things. Free Republic, Daily Kos, comments at HuffPo or Ace of Spades, change the nouns and issues from one to the other and you've got the exact same arguments.
A variant form of NIMBY, they all make specious and malicious statements about their opponents, while claiming that the other guy is the evil bastard.
Meanwhile, the vitriol is flung by both sides, and neither can understand why the nation and the world is in the shape it's in...it's always, always the other evil bastard who's at fault, you see. ...and we are always as just and pure as the driven snow...
Of course, a lot of people really need to get some reading comprehension. This rant by Dan was sarcasm, pure and simple. If Leno, Fox or even Letterman had said something similar, many of us would think it amusing.

Dear Mr. Riehl: Youa re off the beam on this one. The skill that went into the writing shows. It's a big reason I read RWV often. But the post is repellant, not so different from Jane Hamsher's photoshopping Joe Lieberman in blackface. You write to "Doc":
"Get lost, Doc - if you're as you say you are, I've been watching you high-minded twirps get your lunch money stolen by the Left for years. if you don't have the ballz to get in their face, be glad someone does. We can't all be sheep like you, content to walk to slaughter after writing a "stern" reply."
If you have an example of "stolen lunch money" I'd be glad to read it. But the bluster and ghetto spelling are hollow, right out of the same playbook that howls the Tea Partiers are motivated by racism because Obama is President.
Specifically: this post is tied to Obamacare, a disaster in the making for this nation. I'm with Mark Steyn: passing Obamacare is highly likely to give the nation a permanent left-wing government, the more so since the conditions to repeal it won't happen until at least 2013, and maybe not then.
How many of the Democratic Congressmen, the only ones who can stop this disaster, will change their vote should they read your post? Zero, a number as hollow as the ethical core of your post. It's on a par with those Lefties who roared for Dick Cheney's death every time his heart acted up. To the contrary: your post will be a small weight on the other side of the scale, cited in argument to prove the heartlessness of the Right. Hypocritical? Sure, but the Left has never paid much heed to honesty. To counteract your post, a sizable number of telephone calls and letters will have to be written to these Congressionals. The scales are too close for any such self-indulgent posts as you've written to be anything but damaging to the cause. But not to you. No, indeed. This post will do you nothing but good with many people. Too bad. Rewarding bluster is poor practice. So is continuing the degrading adoption of ghetto manners and spelling in the name of "edge." The Right doesn't do edge well, nor should it. See: Krauthammer. That you've decided to go Sullivan on us is dismaying.
Sincerely yours,
Gregory Koster

"How many of the Democratic Congressmen, the only ones who can stop this disaster, will change their vote should they read your post?"
You're point is not valid, Gregory. I don't write for Congressmen and I don't fancy myself able to change their minds. I write for the grassroots. And I want them angry and pumped up come March 16th. It is only they, en mass, that can change any minds at this point. I've no desire to be a Krauthammer, or a Sullivan, who doesn't even know what he is at this point.

"I've no desire to be a Krauthammer, or a Sullivan, who doesn't even know what he is at this point."
Heh. It's gotten to the point where trying to figure out which is which is getting confusing. Mebbe Sullie is Krauthammer's alter ego? ...or vice-a-versa. The question? Is he a super hero or a super villain?
Posted by: Warren Bonesteel | Saturday, March 13, 2010 at 12:11 AM
"The Right doesn't do edge well, nor should it. See: Krauthammer. That you've decided to go Sullivan on us is dismaying."
Gregory Koster, you're so cute when you use such high-minded lies. The Right INVENTED edgy commentary, as any perusal of old Pat Buchanan and William F. Buckley columns will attest (and we won't even get into Joe McCarthy's old speeches). Dan is just continuing the art form, in today's tech-friendly form.
Man up, for a change.
