To answer your title question . . . yes, it sounds like that's exactly what she is doing, with the qualifier that if only the bill is passed illegally/unconstitutionally.

To narrow it down to the Slaughter rule, is ridiculous!

The entire health care bill is unconstitutional.

If this cesspool bill is declared passed without a genuine vote, it's time for a massive "non-compliance" campaign. Every conservative/libertarian/traditional value organization and blog must join the blow-back campaign. Refuse to sign up, harass the perpetrators at every public event, encourage state legiuslatures to opt out, keep the heat on continuously until it is repealed. If this is rammed through, the fight needs to go to a higher level. How long are we going to be the proverbial frogs-in-the-heated-up-pot? I dare say, make the Country ungovernable!

The most important thing is nullification at the state level. We prevailed on the READ ID Act precisely because of 25 states refusing to adhere to the law. Virginia is already leading the way.

Simply pass legislation that declares Obamacare illegal and unconstitutional and be done with it. Any states left will find the program working so badly that their citizens will demand out as well.

Nullification of a mandate-based health insurance measure is vital in assuring that the Dems never try this again...that is, should they ever get a chance in my lifetime, which I doubt.

Come 2011, it will be a very long time indeed before you hear the words "Democrat-controlled Congress" again.

Obvious observation:

If Pelosi & Slaughter can "deem" a bill to be passed without actually voting on it, then what's to stop the American public from "deeming" said legislation to be illegitimate?

Memo for Queen Nancy and Princess Slaughter: What goes around comes around.

Again and again I hear people talking about how illegal and unconstitutional this is. Time after time though no one is willing to really saw the things that need to be said.
Namely these guys aren't going to stop unless they are physically made to stop. Everyone says we will vote them out come November. If these idiots are willing to pull this kind of crap to get their way what do you think will stop them from just rigging the next election? Think about it, they are constantly saying that this load of crap is popular with the people of this country. They have a compliant media that have in the past twisted polls to give Dems the best possible results. They have Acorn (or what ever it is called now). These guys have no intention of following the results of an election if it goes against them.

What needs to be done is for the people to publically start forming militia units and expressly stating the reason for them. We need to publically start a constitutional amendment to completely outlaw all the key elements of the progressive agenda.

If Obamacare passes, we should do everything that we can to shut down or seriously disrupt the Federal government. We now have the perfect opportunity. The 2010 Census forms are now being mailed to 100 million households. We should all refuse to send them in until Obamacare is DEAD. This would send an immediate and undeniable message to the Government. The Census Bureau has not planned on having to do 100 million personal visits to collect these forms. This peaceful disobediance would send a message that cannot be ignored.

If you like this idea, please pass it on as comments in other blogs and talk it up.

southdakotaboy, we already have Constitutional amendments outlawing most of the key elements of the progressive agenda.

You're making the same mistake progressives make: Laws don't alter reality.

Just out of curiosity, what kind of civil disobedience action could I take to protest this bill? Short of forming a militia and whatnot, are we talking about non-payment of taxes, or what? What can be done on an individual level?

Thomas: Refuse to purchase any "mandated" health insurance, refuse to give any information to the new health care beauracracy, refuse to fill out any info on your tax forms regarding the "mandate" to purchase health insurance, refuse to return census forms, overwhelm town hall meetings with opponents of this blatantly unconstitutional bill, post on every blog possible encouraging non-compliance with all federal government mandates, join 10th amenedment organizations, encourage STATE legislatures to nullify unconstitutional federal mandates, do whatever it takes to muck up the works for the fedral government.

@ Mike Campbell - thanks!

Thomas, that's part of the problem, right there. Free men know what to do. They don't require leaders and they don't submit their freedoms to the tender care Great Leaders.

Obama at any time can declare martial law, so we kid ourselves.

***************************************************************

That is why it is so important to start publically forming large armed militias. If we do this in an open and very public manner there would be nothing that Obama could legally do to stop it, even more so if they were sanctioned by sitting Governors or State Legislatures.

Now the Fed can Federalize the National Guard but that doesn't extend to non National Guard Militias. Lets say the Governors of several large states (Texas, etc...) just turned over all their Guard equipment to their newly formed Tea Party Militia groups. Groups who are under no obligation to follow any Federal Orders.

If Obama tried to then issue Martial Law someone in the chain of command would sit down with him and explain the realities of the situation, ie don't give orders that you are not absolutly sure will be followed.

We need to forcefully stepup and smack these scumbags in the nose. That is the only thing lefties understand. Then once we have regained control of this country we need to systematically root out all the traitors and either strip them of their citizenship or throw them in prison.

Self-executing rules have been used for years, Newt Gigrich luvved 'em.

http://wilsoncenter.org/index.cfm?topic_id=1412&fuseaction=topics.publications&doc_id=190504&group_id=180829

When Republicans took power in 1995, they soon lost their aversion to self-executing rules and proceeded to set new records under Speaker Newt Gingrich (R-Ga.). There were 38 and 52 self-executing rules in the 104th and 105th Congresses (1995-1998), making up 25 percent and 35 percent of all rules, respectively. Under Speaker Dennis Hastert (R-Ill.) there were 40, 42 and 30 self-executing rules in the 106th, 107th and 108th Congresses (22 percent, 37 percent and 22 percent, respectively). Thus far in the 109th Congress, self-executing rules make up about 16 percent of all rules.

Q: "It would be an extremely foolish and even dangerous play he can't hope to win. But perhaps he thinks he can. Who really knows what this arrogant, incompetent neophyte in the WH believes anymore"

A: That's easy, what he believes has been clear for years: declare martial law, call in XVIII Airborne Corps along with every Stryker BCT stateside, and redeploy more if needed, activate BATF, FBI and state and local civil unrest contingency plans, and most importantly, narrow-gate the internet.

Explanation: This is what Axelrod/Gibbs mean expressing confidence in winning the "discussion" in November 2010 based on their "healthcare" achievement. They certainly will win it. Reason in the sense of reasonable thought and converse has nothing to do with it. It is their nature, which is deformed Reason (Logos).

The move to martial law, of course, will sit badly with the majority of US Armed Forces Personnel ordered to do it (though hardly all, especially the huge contingent of mohammedans widely and deeply distributed through all ranks and tasks). But they also follow orders, will not jump their chain of commands and should be counted upon to execute martial law when order to it, despite the opprobrious attitude of the large majority of them towards their CiC and her/his gang. Orders are orders.

Meanwhile academic faculties, a-q, hamas, irgc, huge numbers of african-americans, black panthers, "moslem" brotherhood, seiu, mexican and honduran gangs, the cpa, etc. -- and the super-rich or all nations -- are licking their chops and biting their tongues against the sound of the starter gun.

A couple of things:

1. Civil Disobedience has an old and honorable history in this country that goes back through Dr. King to Henry David Thoroeau and Abolitionist Opposition to the Mexican War. It is within the American Tradition. Good on Michelle Bachmann for raising that possibility.

2. The Left supports Civil Disobedience when THEY are doing it. They will be quick to scream "treason" when the Popular Front (which is quickly growing on the Right) starts this. The Left cannot tolerate a Popular Front that is not controlled by them.Daffyd Ab-Hugh made this clear on Big Lizards: .">http://biglizards.net/blog/archives/2010/02/what_makes_left.html>.

3. Enough of the Militsiya talk. There is no indication that Federal troops would obey orders to start rounding up dissidents. American soldiers aren't like that. Most of the U.S. Army's most effective troops are in the Middle East, anyway.

4. You will know the End Is Near when Texas and Florida (Charlie Crist is desperate to save his own ass and would sell his soul to Beelzebub to do so) pass Ordinances of Nullification due to the bill's unconstitutional nature. Trust me, if this bill passes under the Slaughter Rule, Nullification is just around the Corner.

The Left's problem is that they don't see that this thing is provoking Kansas-Nebraska Act sized controversy. They just don't. They think we will roll over and play dead and march lockstep to the Radiant Future. They have no idea.

Seems funny to thinking people everywhere: Bush invaded two soverign countries - without any cause - and you follow along. We spend $101 million PER DAY on these illegal imperial efforts and you say nothing? So it seems you are ok with sending millions and millions of dollars to foriegn countries, but you will subvert the law if your government spends money HELPING YOUR FELLOW CITIZENS? Does that make any sense to you? Really?

The smallish cult known as the GOP is a failure. It didn't work. Authoritarians are last years toast. When your batsh!te crazy Bachmann is leading your charge, you have very serious problems.

Please stop couching the 'help your fellow man' argument in warlike terms. You are childish when you do that. It may have worked as a schoolchild, but now that you are somewhat grown up, your threats amount to a silly expression of frustration at your own lousy exsistance. Let's help your fellow citizens. It is the correct thing to do.

No! Not (shudder) civil disobedience!

Why, someone might be offended!

Hey Jimbo you piece of treasonous trash why don't you go somewhere else, like maybe Europe!

To quote Spicholie "I hope you die screaming of rectal cancer!" But I'm joking just like the lefties do! :) Ya that's it.

We will not follow a bill that is not actually a bill. I wonder if there is anything else Pelosi "deemed," passed? Like Obama's eligibility under the United States Constitution. They have such a blatant disregard for the document, it makes one wonder.

Jimbo,
Are you out of your mind, or just a drone? You have the audacity to call President Bush an "imperial," President. Chemical Weapons Against Kurds
As early as April 1987, the Iraqis used chemical weapons to remove Kurds from their villages in northern Iraq during the Anfal campaign. It is estimated that chemical weapons were used on approximately 40 Kurdish villages, with the largest of these attacks occurring on March 16, 1988 against the Kurdish town of Halabja.

Beginning in the morning on March 16, 1988 and continuing all night, the Iraqis rained down volley after volley of bombs filled with a deadly mixture of mustard gas and nerve agents on Halabja. Immediate effects of the chemicals included blindness, vomiting, blisters, convulsions, and asphyxiation. Approximately 5,000 women, men, and children died within days of the attacks. Long-term effects included permanent blindness, cancer, and birth defects. An estimated 10,000 lived, but live daily with the disfigurement and sicknesses from the chemical weapons.

Saddam Hussein's cousin, Ali Hassan al-Majid was directly in charge of the chemical attacks against the Kurds, earning him the epithet, "Chemical Ali."

Invasion of Kuwait
On August 2, 1990, Iraqi troops invaded the country of Kuwait. The invasion was induced by oil and a large war debt that Iraq owed Kuwait. The six-week, Persian Gulf War pushed Iraqi troops out of Kuwait in 1991. As the Iraqi troops retreated, they were ordered to light oil wells on fire. Over 700 oil wells were lit, burning over one billion barrels of oil and releasing dangerous pollutants into the air. Oil pipelines were also opened, releasing 10 million barrels of oil into the Gulf and tainting many water sources. The fires and the oil spill created a huge environmental disaster.

Shiite Uprising & the Marsh Arabs
At the end of the Persian Gulf War in 1991, southern Shiites and northern Kurds rebelled against Hussein's regime. In retaliation, Iraq brutally suppressed the uprising, killing thousands of Shiites in southern Iraq.

As supposed punishment for supporting the Shiite rebellion in 1991, Saddam Hussein's regime killed thousands of Marsh Arabs, bulldozed their villages, and systematically ruined their way of life. The Marsh Arabs had lived for thousands of years in the marshlands located in southern Iraq until Iraq built a network of canals, dykes, and dams to divert water away from the marshes. The Marsh Arabs were forced to flee the area, their way of life decimated.

By 2002, satellite images showed only 7 to 10 percent of the marshlands left. Saddam Hussein is blamed for creating an environmental disaster.

These are a few of the actions by that tyrant. The world is better off without him. President Bush felt it was better to fight these monster Islamic jihadist's on their soil, rather than ours.

"The smallish cult known as the GOP is a failure." The GOP is the party of Abe Lincoln and Martin Luther King. The only cult is the one you are following, that of Barack Obama/Soetoro or whatever the guys legal name is. Where is that birth certificate, and college records by the way?

Was he just "deemed," eligible by the Democrats/CPUSA and George Soros?

Mike, don't refuse to return your census form. It is used for congressional apportionment. What I will do is refuse to answer any question other than "how many people live at the residence". This is what I did in 2000 and even though I was threatened and hassled by census workers, I was never prosecuted or fined.

"Let's help your fellow citizens. It is the correct thing to do."

Conservatives already help their fellow citizens far more than do liberals.

http://www.realclearpolitics.com/articles/2008/03/conservatives_more_liberal_giv.html

My favorite:

"People who reject the idea that "government has a responsibility to reduce income inequality" give an average of four times more than people who accept that proposition."

And the classic example thereof:

"Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama and his wife Michelle gave $10,772 of the $1.2 million they earned from 2000 through 2004 to charities, or less than 1 percent, according to tax returns for those years released today by his campaign."

http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/news?pid=20601087&sid=aHdvU_NJzIcI&refer=home

Add to that the Obama Party's record of cheating on their taxes, as we see from their leaders like Tim Geithner, Hilda Solis, Kathleen Sebelius, and Charles Rangel, and what you see is that the people like Jimbo who are whining about "helping your fellow citizens" are doing nothing of the sort. Instead, they're putting crushing tax loads on their fellow citizens while refusing to contribute themselves.

Moochers. Jimbo, the entire Obama Party, nothing but moochers.

Bottom Line: The fate of the USA, Western Civilization, Liberty, Human Values and the US Constitution hangs now 100% on West Point and West Pointers. Nor is this the first time this has been the case.

The first thing this crowd of tyrants should have done, on 20JAN09, is eliminate the US Service Academies, starting with West Point. That they didn't is their undoing.

While JLancansters History is correct, he has Conveniently ignored the fact of how this history started. Our CIA backed Saddam for years. Second, our oil corporations have set us up to be the victims of the middle east and all of it's insanity. We could have solved our dependence on oil in the 70s but they funded the congress with folks that would vote against any possibility of getting off of the oil nipple. Our government armed the Jihad against the Russians but act suprised that they now do not want us in thier countries. Saddam was defeated and driven back to Iraq after the 1st gulf war but we refused to take him out because our government wanted to keep Iraq stable in case Iran (remember the hostage crisis during Jimmy Carters presidency)decided to start a Jihad against America. This was supported by Bush 1. Remember that Osama Bin Laden's family was a direct business partner with Bush 1 and the CIA and Bush allowed his family to flee into Saudi Arabia after 9/11. If you are going to look at history, look at both side of the equation. Our current war keeps prices of oil high enough to make it worth while to explore for more oil rather than having our transportation converted to electricity. Oil at $25 a barrel is too cheap to allow american oil exploration and Bush's were oil driven and we depend on oil for getting goods and services to our citizens. Our current economic crisis is a direct result of a select number of large corporations funding and electing our congress and thereby ruling our military policy, foreign policy and economics. The Market Makers, Banks,Insurance did not bring our economy to it's knees. It was us and our allowing a few to rule the many. If you want to be against something and change America, with less government, how about every citizen voting on the internet and doing away with the Repubs and Demos. True democracy will never be allowed. Like Jefferson said, we are too stupid to govern ourselves or even see that this is possible.
