Update: If Anti-Aborts Deal: Abort Them In November No Matter What

Update: Not certain but it appears Pelosi says no fix for Stupak. She knows she can't afford to lose the Left. DOn't assume that's coming from a position of strength.

This is not the time for deals and backroom fixes that we can't trust. It's a time for principled oppositon and digging in one's heals. If these people can't or won't do that, they they won't be around after November. No deals, no way, no how. And make sure you let them know it.

At least six anti-abortion Democrats are open to supporting the healthcare bill if they can get a guarantee from the Senate that it will move separate legislation containing the House abortion language, one of those Democratic holdouts said Friday.

Natural Resources Committee Chairman Nick Rahall (D-W.Va.), one of Rep. Bart Stupak’s (D-Mich.) gang of staunch opponents of the Senate abortion language, said they are in discussions with senators and House leaders to secure such a commitment.

Even if Stupak and his gang of 12 or 10 or whatever it is now stop the health care bill because of abortion, they are not heros and are not defenders of freedom. They are still socialists, albeit more moral than their Dem brethren. They voted for the original House bill, including the public option, a step not taken by the Senate. And they would be willing to further the cause of socialism as long as they can face their constiuents on abortion.

However they vote and whatever the outcome, they are still socialists.

LOL! Jimbo, if you even suggested you are from or are in Texas rest assured one of Texas' Good Old Boys would find you and give you the thrashing of your life. The same most likely goes for Alabama, Georgia, North and South Carolina, Virginia and Florida. Best to stay out there in California. I'd stay away from certain areas of the northern part of the state though if I were you -- there are a lot of conservatives there and they would no doubt get extreme pleasure in thrashing you as well.
