Well, here's a jolt Jim Geraghty might want to add to his next morning one. heh!
Via Instapundit. What a complete load of bunk from Hewitt. Unfortunately, when I see the same old-fashioned, overly moralistic would be supreme authorities like Hewitt, Concerned Women for America, evangelicals and other purist prigs making so much hay over an admittedly unfortunate process error that's been corrected, it seems to me there is a lot more going on.
HUGH HEWITT: The RNC Does Not Get It.
This is a terrible blow to the 2010 effort. Self-inflicted as usual.
And I won't even get into some of the other nonsense going on that gives me good reason to suspect there's elements of racism involved in some quarters. The staffer that facilitated the unfortunate, though minor reimbursement issue, in the grand scheme, has been let go -how many scalps do these people need to weave their latest hair shirt? You're better than everyone and holier than thou, we get it. Can you move on, now?
At the beginning of the week, the battle was staged. Opinion over disastrous health care bill that will forever change the fabric of America, and not in a good way, hung in the balance. The progressive opposition is on the march, with the help of the media, to put the best face on the disaster they possibly can.
But instead of fighting that incredibly significant political and economic enemy, a bunch of preening dinosaurs unwilling, or unable to let go of power and keel over into the tar pit where they belong, opt to hold a circle jerk of a firing squad over what was an error, but ultimately no big deal. And some younger - and I thought smarter, less puritanical bloggers are more than happy to chime right in.
If anything in all this hurts the GOP in 2010, it'll be that - and not some minor financial transgression by some low level political hack that's been dealt with, as it deserved to be. But, hey, they can blame it on the black guy heading the RNC and get what they really want, power and control for themselves in the end, so no big effin' deal, right?
The same people who presided over the GOP's fiscal betrayal and popular decline for the last twenty years just don't want to let go, making way for a new, more energetic base that's actually more about fighting the enemy and fighting to win the battles that count, as opposed to scrambling for deck chairs on the Titanic so they can admire the view going down.
What a truly pathetic display to watch and, most of all, right now, as so much hangs in the balance, politically. But these people don't really care about that. All they care about is themselves and how much power, influence and money they get to control.
That's why I never joined another political party after leaving the Democrats years ago. And why I likely never will, again. The short-sighted power grabs and preening moralism of too many people invested in such things makes me sick. And they lack the integrity to put their petty self interests aside, fight for the right team and get what they want after the mid-terms if it amounts to all that, as any truly non-self-interested political player would do right now, all things considered.

Perceptions are everything, and I think the concern here is that this is business as usual. There must be some alternative between the Super 8 and the Four Seasons. I am curious how much they netted in donations from these expenditures. Do donors really need to be courted with kinky strip shows and bottle service? It,(among other things) gives me pause when I receive my monthly solicitation from the RNC in the mail, or view something like the FirePelosi site. If $2000 here, $10,000 there, is just chump change to them, what do they need my meagre donation, from my straitened circumstances for? People can live in luxury on their own dime. I will channel my money to individual campaigns, where hopefully they can keep better track of it.

Republicans continue to shoot themselves in the foot -- not by some idiots acting like idiots and doing things that they shouldn't have done -- but by the self-appointed arbiters of Republican morality jumping on their high horses and loudly chastising those who have "strayed."
Hey, Republicans! People screw up! People do stupid things! People do bad things! Some of the time, those people are Republicans!
If you moralizers are, indeed, "Christians," how about a bit of "mote/beam" or "forgiveness" being applied and SHUT UP about the transgressions of your own? Fire them (if necessary) and MOVE ON to the ISSUES.
So long as these self-appointed moralistic Republicans keep trying to hold themselves up to impossible standards (rejecting one of the most important parts of their "faith," i.e., "forgiveness" and "non-judgment") they are actively co-operating with the LSM and the Demorats in suppressing the Republican vote.

I'm guessing, from the extreme overreaction on your part, that you are a part-owner of Voyeur and are afraid of losing business.

Heh. Nah. I'm just a conservative who knows that people are people and, in the end, Demorat or Republican, some are going to do stupid things. Demorats circle the wagons when one of their own is accused of doing something immoral (or illegal). Republicans circle the wagons, but only to shoot at the alleged wrong-doer.
How's that been workin' for ya, so far?

"Demorats circle the wagons when one of their own is accused of doing something immoral (or illegal)."
I'm sure the family of Eliot Spitzer would greatly beg to differ about this.
Furthermore, the GOP managed to conduct a nomination fight over Dwight Eisenhower in '52, all the way to the convention. This was after 20 years away from the White House.
Infighting is a GOOD thing. Helps toughen you up.

I see much agitation towards Christians going on here, and it deeply saddens me.
Are we (Christians) being judgmental and/or vindictive about the RNC deciding to holds its "business meetings" in a house of wickedness and debauchery?
"----- Judge not according to the appearance, but judge righteous judgment. -----"
(John 7:24, KJV)
Yes, for some of you who think of this "meeting" in a house that offers services involving women performing profane, obscene acts with each other: despite Hollywierd telling us each and every day on your Devilvision sets that "gay is okay"... God says it is not.
Actually, God tells us to -
"----- Abstain from all appearance of evil. -----" (1 Thessalonians 5:22, KJV)
I rather think that I shall not donate a single penny to this abomination of a political party (much less the other party, which is the very arm of Satan)
Now, do we make mistakes, or bad judgment calls? Certainly. But some things should just make plain sense, namely not having your business meetings in a place that is a few small steps away from being a whore house.

Also:
"--- There must be some alternative between the Super 8 and the Four Seasons. ---"
Indeed. Perhaps those hyper-wealthy prospective donors might want to be wine-and-dined, but drawing a line somewhere far away from a lesbian bondage club and closer to the country club would be a step in the right direction.
Though I would much rather see them meet in the Super 8, or an Econo-Lodge and put people's donations to best use, AS WELL AS demonstrating that they will be able to carry on that sort of fiscal jurisdiction should the GOP ever regain power again.

EDIT: replace "jurisdiction" with "prudence" in the last sentence.

No kidding, one guy spends a couple grand at a strip club and it's the end of the world! Hey, Hugh, et al, how about ignoring it and start talking about Nancy Pelosi's personal fleet of air force jets and enough taxpayer-subsidized liquor bills to supply every pub in Ireland for a year. How about all those luxury junkets for government employees for "team-building" luxury resorts. The list is endless! But, no, just wring your hands because one young GOP aide decided to try to recreate the Fredo in Havana scene for a night.

What do people think the Political Class does? They live very, very high off the hog and they laugh at "normal Americans".
The Red Cross spends tons of money on its officers and their perks.
Everyday Americans, like their counterparts everywhere, are suckers.
It is this simple: We defend them, they laugh at us. Thank God for enemies or we would see through this charade.
I love how "people protect their own," as this blog does, even when the people you defend have contempt for you.

Republicans got caught up in the Obama mania and decided they needed their own version of the HNIC.
They should have picked Blackwell, but Steele won the popularity contest.
This is the result.

"My" republican representatives seem to believe we're all convinced in the futility of a third-party. But in a game of chicken, either party can blink.
Having a black chairman doesn't make the GOP palatable to black voters--even if it did, what kind of party would pander in such a fashion?
If Condi Rice couldn't pull Sharpton and Jackson to our cause, I guess that matter's a little more than skin color.
What is the issue?
Can you say with a straight face the Republican Party is fiscally conservative? Oh, sure, a few here and there--but the party is as addicted to power as the Democrats. How about socially conservative? Yeah... sure.
To put it in perspective, at Boeing, an executive was fired for spending per-diem on cigars. It's an "image" and "ethics" thing, you see? Right or wrong, the company that knowingly flouted US law due to profit potential still holds its executives to a higher ethical standard than the party that claims to represent me.
What do you think I'm going to write across the next RNC fundraising mailer I get?
And keep all the "if you don't support the Repubs, the Dems'll win" to yourself. Here's the right way to phrase it: "If the Repubs don't start supporting their constituency, the Dems'll continue to win."

If the GOP thinks it can exist without the Tea Party, it deserves to die.

Mr. Riehl:
Hugh Hewitt says you're a good concervative blogger, so I'll give you the benefit of the doubt.
I will only ask, what is "Old, Racist and Stupid" about asking the question, "How dumb could you possibly be?" to an RNC that is throwing away money not just on strip clubs, but on limousines, five-star hotels and private jets -- at a time when we are attacking the administration and the Congressional leadership for economic idiocy, and trying to win back the confidence of the voters and, by extension, the Congress. Dan, did you ever hear the advice about avoiding not just impropriety, but even the appearance of impropriety?
I like Michael Steele. I would have been delighted to have voted for him for anything he was a candidate for in 2008. But if the RNC thinks that the way to convince the American people that we are going to be more careful with their money than Pelosi, Obama and Reid is to fly around the country maxing out expense accounts -- strip clubs or no -- then I must be old, racist and stupid, because THAT looks stupid to me.
