So, Amy Bishop's husband did know about the gun. The things they teach you at university, heh! via an email tip from Joe L.
A New Hampshire gun dealer believes his shop sold the gun used in the fatal shooting of three people at an Alabama school.
And the PVC pipe capped at both ends wasn't considered bomb-making material. Keep in mind, she and her husband were once considered suspects in a pipe bombing attempt. Strange pair.
During the search, officers found a piece of PVC pipe capped at both ends. The Huntsville bomb squad used a robot to carry the pipe outside the home and detonate it, sending a loud boom across Bishop’s Huntsville neighborhood.
"It sounded like a small explosive device, like a bomb," neighbor Conrad Thomas told WAFF-TV.
Police Supervisor John Turis said the pipe turned out not to be dangerous, and no bomb-making materials were found during the search.

well. I don't know about you guys but i always have lengths of pvc pipe capped at both ends. They come in SO handy for so many little kitchen jobs. W.T. H.

Capped PVC would be make a rather ineffectual bomb. Iron pipe nipples & caps, also easily found at your local hardware store, would be a different matter.

On ships we use lengths of PVC capped at both ends as waterproof containers, to hold rolled-up copies of emergency plans.

mariner: I am sure you hit at what this pipe was really intended for. The Bishop's were crazy and thought they
lived on the USS Hunstville, not Huntsville, Al.

I'd like to know the size of that PVC pipe. Nore than one person out in the world is burying capped pieces of PVC with various things inside. Sometimes gold and such, sometimes a gun, etc.

Well of course she had capped PVC pipes, where else are you going to store your gunpowder to keep it nice and dry?

Capped PVC would be good for an anti personnel nail bomb. PVC comes in many diameters and an iron case isn't as good for shrapnel as nails, which are already the right size.
It is also useful for bombs that will pass a metal detector. With a past like theirs, a double capped PVC pipe has to be assumed dangerous.

I've always been amazed at what is considered "bomb making material".
I watch shows on TV, like NUMB3RS, and they go into a basement or whatever and see what is in 9 out of 10 electrical engineers' basements and pronounce "bomb making material" is present.
You want to hit them with a 2 by 4 (a carpenters' bomb mating material).

Let's all bleed our hearts for the poor, misunderstood lady that calmly pumped shot after shot into those fiendish tenured professors and admin people for not giving her a lifetime career. Yes Amy, no tenured retreat from which to live out your paranoid delusions from. No young minds for you to indoctrinate with your 1960's hippie gobblety-gook. Just a warm jail cell with a new lesbian partner named "Babs". You definately made your point and found a new calling to boot! Maybe you can write a book?

Have you noticed that the real violence almost always come from the left, yet the MSM would have you believe it is from the right? In the '70s it was the Black Panthers, the Black Liberation Front, the Weather Underground, the SLA, the animal rights nuts and the eco-terrorists, just to name a few. Lee Harvey Oswald was a tool of Cuba or the Soviet Union depending on whose theory you buy. Yet the MSM in the early days after the assassination had the country convinced in was the right wingers in Dallas. Today it is the SEIU thugs who are the Democratic party's Brownshirts, and the radical student mobs on campuses who enforce the academy's suppression of free thought and speech. Funny how much the media narrative departs from the reality.

From the linked article: "The investigator told a judge that an acquaintance bought the gun in New Hampshire for Amy Bishop's husband to skirt a waiting period where the couple lived in Massachussetts."
Wtf? This story just gets worse and worse.
So let's see, lefty loon involved in an illegal 'straw purchase', also circumventing waiting period laws in Mass., breaking laws across state lines, etc etc etc...
But just let them search YOUR house, and they want to make an example of you - pliers, electrical tape, wire, etc; all common stuff 90%+ of all households have, and they would 'secretly leak' it to the local media that you had 'materials used in bombmaking'.

Well, that's interesting. As I read this the Boston PD bomb squad is responding to a report of a length of small pipe that is capped at both ends. I guess in some areas that's considered a bomb, but in others it's not.
This story just gets more weird by the day.

Banjo, you forgot the WTO protestors and the people shooting up the campaign offices of Republicans.
