From a reader email asking if I was aware of this. It does seem a little weird. You have Alabama AG, Troy King, being investigated by a grand jury.
Grand jury reviews Alabama AG's office again
The special grand jury met Wednesday at the federal courthouse in Montgomery. King's chief of staff, Chris Bence, emerged from the grand jury room shortly before 4 p.m. with his attorney, Joe Espy. Bence confirmed his appearance before the panel.
The grand jury has been meeting periodically in Montgomery, but is under the direction of the U.S. attorney's office in Birmingham. The probe began about a year ago under U.S. Attorney Alice Martin, an appointee of President Bush.
Okay. But talk about embattled - King is also at war with the state's DAs.
The Alabama District Attorneys Association, the statewide organization for Alabama's DAs, argues that King has the authority to take over criminal cases, but not civil cases like the drug lawsuits. In court papers, they accuse King of seeking "superpowers" that would make all district attorneys subordinate to him.
And whatever the guy's issues are, they're evidently enough for the state's conservative US Senators, Sessions and Shelby, to be backing his opponent. It isn't like that happens everyday.
WASHINGTON - Alabama's two Republican U.S. senators are backing Luther Strange in his campaign for Alabama attorney general, a reversal from their past support for the incumbent, Troy King.
U.S. Sens. Richard Shelby and Jeff Sessions are featured guests at a Washington fundraiser for Strange next week, according to the invitation, and both offices on Tuesday praised Strange's candidacy.
So, who exactly does King have on his side? Um, John McCain, it seems. And that's supposed to help him, how, exactly? Politics does make for some strange bedfellows, I guess.
John McCain Supports Troy King Re-election Campaign

McNasty needs to go, there is no logic in his schemes, his gang of 14, denial of perment tax cuts, obstructing judge elections, Cap & Trade...none of it beneficial to the country.
He wore out his hero status decades ago and done less good the Benedict Arnold who at least saved the country twice wheres as reach-across-the-isle has hurt the country.
His ONLY gift was Gov Palin.

The support for Troy Kings opponent may come from disagreements on gambling in the state.Governor Riley is
on an anti gambling crusade and splitting friends and foes on the issue.

John McCain does what feels good for John McCain, like a dementia patient gorging on ice cream...
