Update: Image and video below via HuffPo, which term it a riot. Looks like a dumpster burning in image at right.
Oops, my bad. It wasn't a Tea Party event. I don't recall ever seeing a report where a Tea Party turned violent, even with all those extremists in attendance. This was just a group of Berkeley liberals, students who don't want their tuition to rise.
Of course, they'll eventually blame Tea Partiers who don't want their taxes to go up, anyway. So, I figured we may as well take the blame up front.
Late-night protest at UC Berkeley turns violent
BERKELEY, Calif. (AP) -- A late-night demonstration over budget cuts turned violent in Berkeley when protesters broke into a campus building, torched trash cans, smashed windows and threw rocks and bottles at police, authorities said Friday.
Police arrested two people near the University of California, Berkeley campus, said Officer Andrew Frankel, a spokesman for the Berkeley Police Department.
The unrest began around 11 p.m. Thursday after a crowd of more than 100 people gathered on campus for an open-air dance party to build support for an upcoming statewide protest over education funding cuts.
Students and activists have staged demonstrations in recent months at public colleges across California to protest deep budget cuts that have led to steep tuition hikes, enrollment cuts, faculty furloughs and reduced course offerings.

I heard someone got poked in the eye by the Thomas Payne impersonator's three-pointed hat- that's it, tho...

Hmmm...what if these well-educated, bright students substitute words "tuition hike" for words "tax hike"?
Obviously not completely analogous to the income tax. But higher fees for worse service by a branch/agency/division of the government. Sound even a little bit familiar?
Say I know! Maybe a government-run healthcare system?
Seems like being mugged by reality just might pierce their bubble.
It could happen. It could.

Dan, check out the video of Charles Jaco trying to smear tea-parties and tea-partiers, before becoming violent:

Worth a look, and maybe a post as well.

one of the the two arrested was a student aged 28,the other was age 26 and a former student.does this mean that the latter is a community organizer.

violence stemming from budget 'cuts'?
the tea party yin, has found it's yang.
it would be one thing if this was fight over a pot of gold, but this is a fight over a maxed out credit card.

haven't looked at the photos...
but since the racial makeup of the crowd at the tea parties was relevant to libs, should I look for minority activists in the crowd at berkeley?

Hey, UC Berkeley kids:
Welcome to reality. When YOUR state subsidy on tuition is cut, YOU turn into the MOB. Still believe in the liberal state now?
http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/2010/02/26/cnn-poll-majority-says-government-a-threat-to-citizens-rights/
56% of Americans, a healthy majority, mind you, now believe our government is an immediate threat to ordinary citizens. The revolution is coming, people. It's time to pick a side.

Is it safe to say that liberals are simply more prone to violence than conservatives? The evidence points to yes.
Yet CNN is convinced that they’re the smart ones. Strange.
