Via a Twitter tip. Private property rights have always been central to the American idea of liberty. John Adams, for one, summed it up succinctly:
"PROPERTY MUST BE SECURED OR LIBERTY CANNOT EXIST"

Our state and federal governments are increasingly using eminent domain to confiscate the private property of Americans. The Founders realized what a threat to liberty such actions represent. The question is, do we still appreciate that today?
