It isn't like the guy is doing all that well as regards popularity, anyway. But it seems fairly obvious the NYT's is simply trying to finish off the job of getting Patterson to go away. It must be nice to have a once influential newspaper on your side to do your handiwork so readily.
According to a source close to the Paterson camp who is familiar with the scope of the Times' reporting, the Times piece will be an in-depth profile of the governor focused on his personal character. There are likely to be new details about his marital infidelities, but the source added that it's not going to be the bombshell the blogs have predicted. "The piece is PG-13, not XXX," the source explained. "Not to say it won't be problematic, but the Aqueduct situation? That's potentially criminal. On his extramarital affairs, the question is who those people are, and what jobs they've held."

I am a little weird when it comes to Patterson. I actually kinda sorta like the guy. Of course given that Spitzer, Weiner, Nadler, Cuomo, Mayor Nurse Ratchet and Clinton are what I am used to, I suppose that may not be so weird after all.

just wondering whether the nyt asked for permission from the wh, or, they were asked to pursue this attack by the wh.

I like Patterson too. I guess because he's at war about spending maybe. I can't stand Cuomo and I wish the HUD scandal he was involved with in Harlem would be publicized.

Patterson may be the only Democrat politician in NY who understands the state is within scant nanometers of being sucked past the event horizon of a fiscal black hole. So of course the NYT is attacking him, because a Cuomo in that office would dive into the black hole with thrusters firing at 110%.

The NYSlimes is only doing the bidding of the 'chosen one'. They're daily headlines consist of the white house talking points of the day.
