Look, I'm as willing as the next guy to cut Obama some slack. He's from a broken home, the first black POTUS, yadda, yadda. But two years in a row and right before a trip to Nevada to try and save his corrupt Senate leader? It's time to face the facts, folks. Obama's a moron. I'm thinking the teleprompter must have been down. They shouldn't let this guy out without note cards pinned to his sleeve. If he succeeds in re-making America, I'm thinking Playskool by Hasbro and not even up to a good erector set, let alone Leggo. The biggest mystery is, how the hell did he fit so many people under that short campaign bus?
Obama will also travel to Nevada this month to campaign for Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D), who hails from the Silver State.
Obama said that people should not "blow a bunch of cash in Vegas" during a tough recession. Las Vegas Mayor Oscar Goodman called for Obama to apologize after he made comparable comments last February.
"When times are tough, you tighten your belts," he said at the forum." You don’t go buying a boat when you can barely pay your mortgage. You don’t blow a bunch of cash in Vegas when you’re trying to save for college."
The president targeted Las Vegas last Feburary at a town hall in Elkhart, Ind. when he was asked about corporate responsibility.

either a moron or an evil genius. I'm still not sure. nothing like pissing off the man that has the power to speed up or slow down your domestic programs. I see Congress getting slowed down alot this year.
which in the grand scheme of things would be great for Obama. If congress is deadlock and unable to pass its economic killing bills like cap and trade the economy will more than likely grow.

Hmm,, another courageous act by you Dan, like the courage you showed earlier on the DC Metro train. Calling someone a moron, a person who completely broke down intellectually the Republican House Reps, is a little…moronic. As married to a person with a gambling addiction, I do not think it is moronic to advise folks to not spend needed money on discretion on gambling

Hey Buck! That is not what the moron said...he said don't spend money on Vegas. What part of that don't you understand? The moron is heading to Nevada to stump for that spender Reid who HAS to get the Vegas vote or it's curtains. Methinks YOU are a moron too. You don't get this do you...

Nah, he'll be sticking with his poser theme... and go with the Lincoln Logs, lol

Hey, you keep telling the truth about Obama moronic ways you might just receive a special visit from the Obama SEIU purple shirts. Great article keep up the good work.

"It's time to face the facts, folks. Obama's a moron."
Old news. Why do you think I refer to him as Barry Lackwit?
Posted by: wolfwalker | Wednesday, February 03, 2010 at 06:43 AM
The best part is that SEIU is big in Nevada and an economic turndown will hurt them a lot.
Posted by: Lala | Wednesday, February 03, 2010 at 07:06 AM
Obama is in fact politically tone deaf. He thinks he so smooth because that's what he's been told all of his adult life, but he insults people left and right and in this case he should have simply kept his big mouth shut.
He ignored the tea party movement until it bit him in the ass. He bowed inappropriately in Japan, which in a way is insulting to Japan because it shows that he didn’t really take the time to learn the protocol, instead he relied on heavy ass kissing. He apologized to the world for the United States, when none was needed. The list goes on…
Obama isn’t a moron. He has control of the facts that are in his head. Yet like Reagan said, it’s just that the things he knows happen to be wrong. What needs to go is this idea that he’s so under control, and is always saying the right thing, because he frequently doesn’t.
If you don’t like gambling stay out of Vegas, because that’s what they do there. Let’s hope that he’s as successful in helping Reid as he was in helping Corizine et al.

"The best part is that SEIU is big in Nevada and an economic turndown will hurt them a lot."
I think you got it, one thing we know about barack is that he will throw anybody under the bus, so you see it must be that andy stern is getting too big for his britches and needs to be brought down a notch. So ruin the economy in Vegas, hurts SEIU, hurts Stern, it's the chicago way. It's all personal.

I would be careful how on portray this hard core Marxist. He is succeeding in spades in meeting his goals on destroying our capitalist system and the fun is "soon" to begin for everyone when the Bush tax cuts fade out.
There is only one way to logically pay for the tremendous debt that Obama racked up, that is with numerous tax cuts to get the economy moving once again but of course everyone knows that is not what he is going to do.In fact he will do the opposite and break out confiscatory taxes for half the country, while not taxing the lowest portion of the country (which won't matter because there will be no jobs to tax) and he is doing all of this not to be fiscally responsible but to set up a class warfare, fairness shtick that he feels his base will eat up.
Regardless, he is putting us on a perpetual road of debt that will last generations and beyond, which is a good thing in his alien mind.

I figured that out during the campaign. The thing is, he's got power. That makes him a dangerous moron.
Posted by: time to rise up | Wednesday, February 03, 2010 at 08:36 AM
EXACTLY! The idea he's this very bright guy who is cool and deliberative is a media creation. He's not that bright- without a teleprompter or his overuse of shopworn phrases to speak without one - the things that come out of his mouth are laughable. We've never seen any transcripts from high school, college or law school. What other possible reason could there be? What people see as "deliberative"-10 meetings to decide what to do about sending troops to Afghanistan- is nothing more than indecision of a guy in way over his head. The funny thing is like most narcissists who feed off the accolades from his sychophants and the press he believes he "has a gift" and any missteps by him are someone else's problem. A dangerous combination for the country.

Obie is a moron for calling on folks not to gamble in Vegas. Just what do you he think he is doing with taxpayers money with his massive budgets, his giveaways to cronies, his healthcare bribes and his big spending on over 100 fancy WH parties during his first year with loads of $100/lb Wagyu beef, Michelle's vastly overpriced rags, those golf vacations at pricey estates, his waste of resources on extraneous flights (2x back and forth to fail miserably at Copenhagen), ad nauseam?
And this is just the first year. Lord help us all!
Posted by: Ashan | Wednesday, February 03, 2010 at 09:14 AM
What scares me is that he really thinks the average guy is going out there and missing mortgage payments so they can buy a boat, or that we're all just chomping at the bit to get to Vegas to let it all ride. They have no trouble telling us all how to live, because they assume we are all just stupidly stumbling along, lucky to have made it as far as we have without them.
Posted by: Leigh | Wednesday, February 03, 2010 at 09:16 AM
Gee...when I was in Las Vegas in Jaunuary I could have sworn gambling was legal!
Posted by: JustOneMan | Wednesday, February 03, 2010 at 10:11 AM
Buck, at issue is not whether people with gambling problems or limited incomes should stay away from Vegas (that goes without saying, even the hackiest politician would reject that advice as patronizing.)
At issue, is the political ineptitude of this President making a wholly gratuitous throwaway statment which is politically unhelpful to one of his most powerful allies, Harry Reid - again! - after his expression of similarly trite 'advice' for the public had previously caused his Senate Majority Leader so many problems back home.
It would seem that Candidate Obama had been required to robotically memorize a set number of Axelrod-generated catch phrases for the campaign, and he's not yet proved capable of expediently discarding those hokey platitudes after the election, even when continuing to employ them as President has already been proven to be self-sabotaging & harmful to his allies.
That's what makes him not as bright as the American people had been erroneously led to believe, Buck, not the substance of the vapid boilerplate Plouffe & Axelrod-authored truisms he keeps parroting like a Tourette's patient, with no regard for the current political consequences.
Posted by: leilani | Wednesday, February 03, 2010 at 11:15 AM
I don't think he's a 'moron' per se, but he's not close to the brilliant, chess player uber strategist that he's been sold as, I also agree he's politically tone deaf outside of the liberal platitudes he's been mouthing his entire life.
I didn't see the Obama/GOP Q&A so I can't say how accurate it was that he did a good job, though if he did I would tend to suspect the reason was a poorly prepared set of Republicans rather than a brilliant debater president.
Posted by: Anon | Wednesday, February 03, 2010 at 11:27 AM
You're all missing the obvious. Even Dan.
This is payback for Reid's comments about Obama's skin color and variable dialect.
Posted by: Looking Glass | Wednesday, February 03, 2010 at 12:01 PM
"poorly prepared set of Republicans"
Oxymoron?
Posted by: wpe | Wednesday, February 03, 2010 at 12:34 PM
Like I tell'em. Obama is stuck on stupid. And he will stay that way right up to the day they kick his arse out of the White House.
He ain't never gonna learn.
Posted by: Paul | Wednesday, February 03, 2010 at 01:11 PM
Looking Glass, do you really think so? After all, he forgave Joe Biden for saying virtually the same thing enough to choose him for Veep.
Though he is surely the most one of the most passive-aggressive guys to ever occupy the Oval & he's certainly capable of doing this as mere payback as you suggest, I think ultimately it's just more evidence that our POTUS is not as smart as his press flunkies would have us all believe.
The man is decidedly clumsy at thinking on his own two feet & adapt to changed circumstances - he's so singularly maladroit at learning from past mistakes, in fact, that he's incapable of departing from familiar clichees which are harmful to his own best interests.
