A BBC video report. Tune in as a truckload of Sharia policemen - women aren't even allowed in the truck - cruise the beaches of Aceh at night to break up non-married couples when the male and female are sitting too close to one another. Put a jiggly intro on it and, who knows, it might just beat CNN and MSNBC.
The province of Aceh is one of the most conservative regions in Indonesia, the world's most populous Muslim nation.
Most Muslims in the country are modern and moderate, and Indonesia's constitution recognises five official religions including Buddhism and Christianity.
But Aceh has special autonomy, and one of the ways it has defined itself as different from the rest of the country is through the implementation of Sharia law and the advent of the religious police - known as the Sharia police.

And remember, everybody, that Indonesia is the country that Islamophiles point to as PROVING that "moderate Islam" can indeed exist.
I expect that moderate-Indonesia-as-we-have-known-it will revert to a typical Islamo-sh*thole within 5 years. The Rise of Worldwide Islam (and the blind-and-ignorant refusal of legitimate governments to OPPOSE the rise of Islamic fundamentalism) make it inevitable.
