The myth Democrats created around former President Bush that hurt him so badly was that he was a war mongering president out to rule the world. Actually, he went to Washington with a domestic agenda, hoping to be known for domestic policy above all else. Unfortunately, 9/11 changed all that. But Bush responded as a president should, by putting aside his agenda for what was best for the nation.
RASMUSSEN: 61% Say It’s Time for Congress To Drop Health Care.
Obama had an advantage over Bush. His 9/11, if you will, not only happened just before he was elected, it all but gave him his victory and the Democrats their margins in Congress when the economy melted down in early Fall.
On top of Obama's lackluster road trips to try and turn things around by talking jobs now, the continuing failure of Obama and the Democrats is writ large in headlines every day, as they look all but paralyzed still talking about what they want to do: health care reform.
Time may not have run out for Obama. He has four years to rehabilitate his image, assuming he can. But between bad economic policies and the closing of a window of opportunity to do it as November comes calling, time likely has run out on his party, no matter how cleverly they talk.
Interlaced between the days headlines on health care, someone somewhere points out the reason for the failure of Obama and the Democrats in governing America everyday. Barring a ground shifting event, how the narrative of this story plays out over the next ten months will tell you the results of the mid-terms more than anything else. In short, it's the economy stupid. I believe we've all heard that one before. And it's been the economy since before Obama even took office. He chose to ignore it, or even damage it more.
Obama's failure to come to terms with it with a shift in policy, not just rhetoric, will likely spell doom for Obama's party in the Fall. What happens after that remains to be seen. A surprising development given that he's so much more articulate than Bush, yes? So, just who are the rubes, again? I keep forgetting, somehow.
They focused hardest on what they cared about most
“Obama punted on the economy and reversed the fortunes of the Democrats in 365 days."
“In another item, the GOP leads nationally on the economy 48/37.”

"Time may not have run out for Obama. He has four years to rehabilitate his image..."
I agree that time has not run out for Obama, nor close to it (even if his party loses big this November). But he doesn't have "four years to rehabilitate his image." He is up for re-election in November 2012. Meaning he has the rest of 2010, all of 2011, and up to, say, September or (at the latest) October of 2012 to change his image. That (about 33 months) is actually rather less than THREE years.

Obama stands close to becoming the “greatest orator” with the worst unscripted moments in the history of the United States. POTUS without TOTUS is an experience not to behold. - David Horowitz

This guy is so yesterday.......geez, it's almost sad to watch. A president dissolving before our eyes.
Ah Barry, we don't want or need your "spreading the wealth". What we want is ECONOMIC GROWTH and the only way to jumpstart that is to UNLEASH the FREE MARKET. Strong defense against the Moooslim jihadis, lower taxes, lower regulations, stop micro-managing everyone's life.
Step back and watch the American people pull us out of this economic downturn.

At his core, The Once is a socialist. As such, he can't stand free enterprise/capitalism because such a system usually means the smartest, the hardest working, the most ambitious get ahead and the lazy, the slackers, the people who chronically make bad choices in their lives, fall behind.
The Prophet Obama's mission in life is to redistribute wealth from the productive to the non and less productive, in exchange for their loyal votes and support.
That's Socialism 101.

I thought you were going to say it's been the economy since before Adam delved and Eve span. http://bit.ly/7zdeQB
