At first blush, the Google/China incident much in the news may appear to have little to do with American politics, Barack Obama, or even the Clintons, with their history of financial dealings involving the Chinese. But it does.
Google approached China with the same combination of greed and naivete the liberal mindset approaches everything. What's in it for us? And how can we all get along, after we cave a bit? The result? Google got played, just as any realist should have expected would be the case.
Will they really learn anything? Perhaps, but I wouldn't hold my breath. They'll extend their hand for cash and friendship and get played for fools the next time such an opportunity presents, too. It's ingrained in them, liberals, I mean. That'swhy we need realists and not utopianists running foreign policy.
First, this attack was not just on Google. As part of our investigation we have discovered that at least twenty other large companies from a wide range of businesses--including the Internet, finance, technology, media and chemical sectors--have been similarly targeted. We are currently in the process of notifying those companies, and we are also working with the relevant U.S. authorities.
Second, we have evidence to suggest that a primary goal of the attackers was accessing the Gmail accounts of Chinese human rights activists. Based on our investigation to date we believe their attack did not achieve that objective. Only two Gmail accounts appear to have been accessed, and that activity was limited to account information (such as the date the account was created) and subject line, rather than the content of emails themselves.

"Will they really learn anything? Perhaps, but I wouldn't hold my breath."
Indeed. Being mugged by reality works only if you can recognize reality when it hits.

What rubbish is this? Google acted as "liberals" and "got played"? They wanted to make.... MONEY. How liberalish of them! And I suppose the smorgasbord of companies still staying their and assisting the Chinese in suppressing their population.. from Verizon to Microsoft to Mc'Donalds.. are doing it because their "liberal" mindset invites them to "suck up?" What bullshit! It's pretty freaking unlikely that such folks are all "liberals", and they're there because they want... to make... MONEY.
The only thing 'liberal' about Google is their decision to actually give a darn about being used to support human rights abuses. Those realists over in Shell and Texaco would just hand out the high fives...

Who in their right mind still uses Gaggle? Plenty of other search engines out there who don't push progressive results while suppressing the truth.

Making money is can certainly fit into the liberal agenda. Just look at all the Manhattan Limousine Liberals.

Google has decided to review their business model with China because China attacked them. They thought that they had a business deal with the largest market in the world, but like all the other companies will find out - it's only a deal when it suits China. The Chinese government feigns acceptance of western practices of copyrights, intellectual property, contract law as long as it doesn't get in the way of their desires and as long as it keeps us giving them technology and money. Google just isn't being greedy at the cost of its integrity. Google can't have it's business model if people start to view them as a leaky and weak supplicant willing to give up customers personal security for money. They know that. So before you start using the much diluted "liberal" term start wondering why other American companies are more willing to give away our technology, industry and money to a country like China and sell us out in the long term. Based on your point of view the opposite of Google is the "Conservative" thing to do.

Looks like the 'Smart Diplomacy' as well as the Western Corp's and DOD's better wake the hell up on Red China, the RC is a rabid enemy of freedom and will do anything for power!

Just remember that "American and Western Corps" are actually owned by Multi-National funds and investors. This means that the Chinese can easily buy up stock through front companies and financial firms (like in Hong Kong) and do as they wish. So much for the great American Company... no such thing anymore. Think about that while they lobby your congress and have rights equal to a person. Can we all say "Sold Out"?
