William Jacobson has more on an ugly Coakley attack. The real Dem blunder here is playing politics as usual, while ignoring the turf. Blue on blue campaigns can get nasty, but they rarely if ever sink to this level. And MA hasn't seen a competitive Democrat versus Republican race like this one since the 70's. Negative campaigns depress turnout for everyone. But low turnout in this one actually works to Brown's favor, as all experts agree.
The ugly card is going to hurt, not help Coakley in MA, especially so as they aren't as accustomed to it as are voters in some other states. That's why it makes sense for Brown to turn the tables when it's employed. Holding Coakley to account for the ugliness is a win win, as it also fires up his base even more, while causing hers to be increasingly turned off by a candidate they've already decided they don't much like.
Having had no plan for a competitive race going in, panic has set in and her campaign is now spiraling out of control. Only voter demographics can save her now.
I posted yesterday about a disgusting mailer used by the Massachusetts Democratic Party to allege that Scott Brown wants rape victims turned away from hospitals.
As I explained, the allegation is false, twists out of all reality the legislation Brown proposed on the "morning after pill," and ignores that Martha Coakley herself supports the Senate health care bill which has a religious exemption against providing abortion related services or referrals, even in the case of rape.

Doesn't the HCR bill contain similar "conscience clause" language? And doesn't Coakley support that bill? Then I guess she also wants to "turn away rape victims" from hospitals, right? Hypocrite.

Coakley won't hit true bottom until she invites Biden to come help...

Demographics?
Dan, she's done. It's over. Allow yourself some hope. Brown has all but assured himself a double-digit win. We take this country back starting Tuesday. And when we're done, the Dems will be out of power for another 30 years.
1980-2008 was the standard, Dan. It is 2009 that was the historical anomaly. Just as Carter's four years gave Republicans 26 out of 28 years in control of this country following, just as 1992-1994 was an anomaly that resulted in a 14-year run for the GOP, 2010 is going to be a realignment that will last as long as the GOP remember the lessons of Massachusetts.
When the GOP wavers, there's two years of Democratic rule that ends in utter disaster and then a decade plus of growth and prosperity in the country. The cycle will begin anew. This country has been ready for the rollback of New Deal liberalism for decades now.
The real challenge starts Tuesday. We have to be ready for it.

So let's see: The GOP loves the Wall Street bonuses, Insurance companies, unborn babies, old white guys, racists, bigots, Palin (redundant), rich people (unlike yourselves), uneducated (much like yourselves), unAmerican radio pedophiles and hucksters, spirits in the sky, baby jebus (as if you could even walk in his footsteps), foreign governments (who happen to have oil), war and pillage (for countries who don't have oil), and all things which contradict the nature and pulse of our America.
The GOP is a smallish cult populated with teabaggers and other such uninformed corporate shills (Dick Armey). The entire planet is laughing at your reverence for all things 16th century. And by the way; why are all your wives so fat and unattractive? Do you prefer them that way? Somebody loves you, don't ask me why...

So Jimbo, let me see if I understand you. The rational, thoughtful arguments of the commenters above you - and many other conservative commenters on many other blog sites - are indications of a lack of education and a love for racists, bigots, war and pillage; but your name-calling, insults and vulgar references are supposed to indicate that you are educated and compassionate?
Sorry, you destroy your own positions by the way you express them, and you point out just how valid and sensible conservative positions are.
