In March of this year, the NY Post called it a cavalcade of scandal surrounding soon to retire Chris Dodd of Connecticut. The "Controversies" section of his wiki is the longest section there.
Today there is nothing noble in the leaving of Chris Dodd. He has become a poster boy, a caricature, really, for everything that American politics is at its worst and should not ever be. He neither deserves, nor has earned the entitlements he'll get for life from American taxpayers. But as greedy and crooked as he's always been, he'll take them just the same. You can count on it. This is Chris Dodd we're talking about.
Those that would salute him as some soon to depart long-serving and suffering public servant are as complicit in his corrupted approach to governance as is he. All they display with their loyalties to Dodd is a lack of respect for honest and ethical governance. Most are simply self-pleased at having been able to sit at his spoiled table in some small, hanger-on-ish way.
Anyone willing to stand by this corrupt and now, hopefully, though doubtfully, broken man are as much a part of the problem as is he. All Dodd is doing is continuing to take the money and run just as he always has. There's only the satisfaction in knowing there is nowhere for him to go to get his good name back. Chris Dodd didn't deserve a good name in the first place.
I won't support some years of alleged good service as he heads for the door, likely still making one, or more misguided, potentially corrupt and damaging votes as he makes his way. It isn't a day to acknowledge Dodd's legacy. He doesn't have one over which any principled man would brag.
He has only his disgrace to take with him as he now cowardly slinks away from the voters because they finally managed to catch on to him. Dodd shouldn't raise his head in leaving. There are far too few left who would much admire any false dignity, or unearned pride, he may attempt to display. He's a blight upon the political landscape it took years to expose and only now wash away.
He'd leave by way of the gutter if there was an ounce of honesty in the man. It's where his name started thanks to the corrupt legacy of his Father. And the now failed Chris Dodd has done nothing to raise it up. He's just so much more political detritis to be rinsed away, down the drain as we shower him off like any other filth.
That's about the best anyone can say of Chris Dodd, corrupt, dishonest political parasite that he's been. And he'll likely remain that now until the end of his dishonorable days as an allegedly good man, public servant, or not. I doubt he even knows what one is, based upon honest accounts.
DLTDHYITAOTWO crook!

He represents exactly what our founding fathers knew would happen if . . . And it did. Human nature will out . . .

Dan, Please don't hold back. Let us know what your really think and feel about the A$$ Clown Chris Dodd. He is now lower than whale fecal matter on the bottom of the ocean. May the lowly Chris Dodd get a peristalsis and bowel disorder that will cause him great discomfort while he wanes throughout his undeserving retirement.

This day is the result of the hard work from the folks at http://www.DumpChrisDodd.com - who formed their group over 1 year ago. They were RELENTESS in hounding DODD all over the state and helped lower the poll ratings for Dodd. They made the "DumpDodd" theme a foregone conclusion.

The Senate is so "clubby" that I can't imagine any of them failing to "salute him as some soon to depart long-serving and suffering public servant."

All these Dems not seeking re-election might not be such a great thing, folks. Hop over to JBYP and consider.

And here I thought it was because the Senator from Countrywide Financial could no longer make waitress sandwiches with the Senator from Chappaquiddick.

Ok...I'm glad to see him go, too. The problem I have is that we're always electing the asshats and their promises (I'll c-span everthing!) and we have to learn the hard way. Over and over again. If every organization that received Federal money was then subject to the Freedom of Information Act, would that change anything? If every person that got an entitlement, our redistributed income, received a yearly IRS Form 1099-GOV and actually had to file with the IRS would we start to learn how our money is being used? If you can't track the money you can't stop the thieves!

Awesome rant! And a fitting tribute to a bloated, corrupt gas-bag of a man who has swindled billions from taxpayers while wallowing in the DC sewer.

Along with Barney Frank (those two names should be linked in eternity) Chris Dodd was one of the key legislators responsible for the Fannie Mae failure and ultimately, the crash of our economy. Somehow the Democrat parasites in power have managed to avoid accepting any responsibility for the crisis by blaming others. They blamed George Bush (and to be truthful he did contribute but he did want better regulation of lending institutions). They blame Wall Street - and while there is plenty of cleanup work to do there, our economy had survived their transgressions for decades. They blame Republicans. They blame anyone but the people who are primarily responsible - themselves! Democrats inserted friends and lackeys into the management of key lending institutions and pushed for relaxed rules on home loans - the same rule changes that led to our economic downfall. When others saw the risk associated the Democrats (particularly Dodd and Barney Frank) shouted them down. Perhaps the greatest injustice is the fact that those same two were put in charge of key programs that were supposed to "repair" our economy - by the Democrats! And they have failed miserably!
The only justice being doled out now is that the people are finally beginning to recognize how corrupt and arrogant these Democrats are. The real question is how much damage have they done and will America ever be able to recover and once again become the great county it once was!
