This is a pretty big rainbow for a conservative. I can't find anything but this blurb below from when Fiorina addressed Jackson's group. Michelle has more current audio bound to hurt Carly with some on the Right. More at AmSpec.
SAN JOSE, CA - APRIL 30: Hewlett Packard CEO Carly Fiorina (R) talks with Rev. Jesse Jackson before delivering the keynote address at the fourth annual Rainbow/PUSH Silicon ...
I'm not going to simply go off on someone for having had a relationship with Jackson, or Rainbow/PUSH, as a business person. And there's little to argue with in terms of much of what Fiorina seems to be saying. Women in politics and equal opportunity are good things, after all. Still, that she seems so enamored with Jackson to this day does create a reason for concern.
Her response below doesn't really do anything to explain that away. I assume as with Obama, Jackson would look to cut off her cojones, in political terms, if he could when it came right down to it. Actually, it would be even worse with Fiorina claiming the mantle of conservatism, as she now does. Unfortunately, given her seeming unwillingness to stand up to the types of antics Jackson employs even now, it's fair to ask whether she has any cojones at all - speaking in political terms, of course. This will not help her in the primary.
A spokeswoman for Fiorina, Julie Soderlund, said she had nothing to apologize for. “It goes without saying that as a mainstream conservative, Carly Fiorina strongly disagrees with Jesse Jackson’s political agenda,” Soderlund said. “Her remarks were focused on the importance of women recognizing and seizing opportunities to serve in public office.”

I disagree. From what I read at Malkin's post, Fiorina seems to be saying that we cannot have true representative government unless we have quotas. She seems to think that since females make up 50% of the population, then government must be made up of 50% females. That's identity politics, plain and simple. It's the same argument the Left makes about the Supreme Court, that we have to have a certain amount of minorities or females on the court in order for it to be a true representation of the people.
And that's ridiculous. It's putting identity politics and quotas and "diversity" of skin color or sex or ethnicity over qualifications for a job.
The irony is that the Left is all for saying that women are no different than men. They use this to say that women can do everything men can do and should be considered for every job for which men are considered. They also use this for the sake of promoting "same sex marriage" (ie two moms and two dads are no different than a mom and dad). Yet, if that is the case, that women and men are no different from one another, then what is then the benefit of having a woman in a position rather than a man? If she is no different than a man and provides no unique benefit, then there is no difference having a business run by all women and a business run by all men, right?

I want to support her but we already have one RHINO as Gov in Cailfonia and I feel most people will vote for a real liberal like Boxer than a Republican poser like Carly.

Fiorina a "mainstream conservative"? Julie Soderlund needs to lay off the crack pipe.

Dan,
I just finished reading this:
http://www.singularity2050.com/2010/01/the-misandry-bubble.html
Among many points made (some more successfully than others) is that modern feminism is in fact the most insidious of the hard leftist subsects.
While her intentions may or may not be laudable, taken in the context of the rather totalitarian tactics of which she was accused while heading HP, her common cause with peddlers of identity politics make me think it is more likely that her conservatism is much more opportunistic than it is based on any principles in which she believes.

PA -- Damn straight she's mainstream. Steele and Cornyn are trying to shove her down California's throat, the way they did in NY, Florida, Colorado, etc. ... she's their dream 'moderate' candidate.
NOBODY who stands with Jesse Jackson gets my vote.

Hmmmm.
Let's face it. Declaring oneself a "conservative" and then being true to leftists ideology is all the rage now in GOP politics. And I'm not buying that stale BS.
Convenient Conservatives: being a RINO but hoping nobody will notice.

Well, you could use the alternate; huevos or eggs which I assume she might have a few left but that doesn't convey the meaning of cojones or testiculos as referring to fortitude laced with aggression.
Hey, there's a reason why the Amazons (if they ever existed) didn't last too long nor any other female led tribe/clan; there's nothing like testosterone coursing through ones veins when it comes time to defend yourself or die. Now if we can only figure out how the French continue to exist.
