I'm not a Birther. I don't believe Palin is either after reading the pertinent exchange. Like me, I don't believe Palin cares about the issue that much one way or the other. However, it was obvious her comment would be at the top of Memorandum all day by the time I left the house early this morning.
It gave me a chuckle more than anything. It does say a lot about Sarah Palin and why people like her so much. She's candid, honest and unafraid. Those are extremely rare qualities in politicians these days. She's really just making a few simple points that are undeniably true.
Some people are questioning it. That doesn't bother me very much, they're allowed to speak their mind. The McCain campaign didn't attack Obama enough on much of anything. If people want to go on forever about my child and his birth certificate, well, turn about is fair play in my book.
Amid all the blather over it on line today, I doubt anyone can honestly dispute those straightforward claims. So, as someone who has seen Birther-ism as politically imprudent for the Right since it began, when I take into account Obama's falling poll numbers, the exchange doesn't really bother me at all. It was, to coin a phrase, just Sarah being Sarah. If you don't like it, I doubt she cares that much what you think. So, you better find a way to deal with it, she's unlikely to change. That's another rare quality in a politician today. But then, I still laugh every time I think about Reagan's "the bombs are on the way" comment when he thought he was off mic, once. heh!
"Would you make the birth certificate an issue if you ran?" she was asked (around 9 minutes into the video above).
"I think the public rightfully is still making it an issue. I don't have a problem with that. I don't know if I would have to bother to make it an issue, because I think that members of the electorate still want answers," she replied.
"Do you think it's a fair question to be looking at?" Humphries persisted.
"I think it's a fair question, just like I think past association and past voting records -- all of that is fair game," Palin said. "The McCain-Palin campaign didn't do a good enough job in that area."
McCain's campaign counsel has said the campaign did look into the birth certificate question and, like every other serious examination, dismissed it.
Palin suggested that the questions were fair play because of "the weird conspiracy theory freaky thing that people talk about that Trig isn't my real son -- 'You need to produce his birth certificate, you need to prove that he's your kid,' which we have done."
"Maybe we can reverse that," she said, returning to Obama's birth certificate, describing the type of thinking involved with a word that isn't clear in the audio.

Palin has clearly thrown her lot in with the Tea Partiers.
She will be their cheerleader-in-chief.
Palin has become way to polarizing for any realistic general election hopes.
Palin is another Ann Coulter, write books for her fans and rake in the $$$$$.

Palin supporters shouldn't be chuckling: the MSM and their helpers are going to keep using this against her over and over (and over and over). And, her supporters who are chuckling or mostly ignoring this aren't doing her any favors.
I describe what her supporters must do here:
http://24ahead.com/sarah-palin-now-birther-certificate-fair-game-what-her-suppo
Being on the side the tea partiers is much more damaging in my perspective, but it will probably be less damaging to the MSM since the partiers are useful idiots for those who support massive and/or illegal immigration.

Sarah Palin will be the next POTUS in 2012. She is one of a kind in, she does what she believes. She does not go along with it because I can make lot's of $. Unlike most politicians she is not corruptable, she is a true American Patriot. God Bless her our next President, we need her Leadership.

A useful idiot spamming for his own left-wing blog. Gee!

For clarification, Jeff and 24AheadDotCom, exactly what is wrong with Tea Partiers? You have issue with average, patriotic American citizens? Why would our support harm Sarah?

Amazing that the first two comments on a conservative blog post about Palin are from libtard twats spewing puerile talking points. It's like somebody (Axlerod) is paying them or something.

It wouldn't have taken all that much work to find this page where I have extensive coverage of their movement:
http://24ahead.com/s/tea-parties
Scroll down a bit and you'll see things like DickArmey doing stim lobbying for a couple corporations at the same time as he group was opposing that bill. I don't know what sort of lobbying he was doing, but I'm going to guess that his actions didn't have the impact of reducing the stimulus.
However, what's more important now is the Palin link above. Rather than simply calling names, does anyone have a counter-argument? Since that plan would help Palin and would be highly effective, anyone who opposes that plan would seem not to be one of her supporters.

I love the people who are claiming Palin's association with tax and spend protesters damages her.
Uh, guys... that's pretty much the majority position in the country today.

Leftard trolls will disagree, Patricia. They sure jumped on this post fast.

What is irrational about wanting to see a birth certificate which would prove or disprove Obama's qualifications for office when Obama is doing everything in his power to ensure that we can't?
Whether or not Palin is Trig's mom (regardless of the merits of that belief) is of no moment as it regards her qualifications for office. Whether or not Obama is a "natural born citizen" is. So, when Obama shields his birth certificate, one could logically assume that he does so because it contains some damaging information on it. (Which may or may not have anything to do with his citizenship status.) If Palin doesn't release her son's birth certificate, it DOESN'T MATTER, so, NOT MATTERING whether she's Trig's mother or not, Palin is well within her rights to say "screw you" to any who would wish to view it.
IT DOESN'T MATTER.
The status of Obama's birth DOES "matter."
It isn't irrational to want to settle something with finality when that "something" actually MATTERS.
(Kinda like global warming. Saying that the matter is "settled" doesn't MAKE the matter "settled." And, just because those in power SAY that they can be trusted doesn't mean they CAN be trusted.)

1. The partiers don't just complain about spending, and they ignore even more important issues. The "No Taxes" and "John Galt" signs should be a clue; those concepts are not outliers.
2. I've posted literally thousands of posts since 2002 at my site, and I also contributed to Malkin's imm. blog. It's incredibly easy to find my position on various topics, check out my site.
3. The fact that partiers would attempt to dissuade you from employing my highly effective plan to help Palin shows just how unintelligent many of them are.

I frankly think the Dems are deliberately not killing this "Nirth Certifikit" issue for once and for all as they like to see us waste time and resources on wild goose chases.
Or a remote possibility (the "Zombie hypothesis"): there's something else on the long-form certificate (not the place of birth) that doesn't fit the image BHO is projecting of himself... Like "race: Caucasian"... (I'd link to Zombie's comments on LGF, but all his/her comments were scrubbed after Zombie was banned. Res ipsa loquitur.)

Palin showin herself to be quite .... nuanced (sssssnarf to taste). I honestly believe she knows what's at stake. And her performance rather bravura (quite so).
Call me a nut (or worse). Feel free. There is no question in my mind, Buraq the Magic Pony was born in Mombasa. NONE.
The madness .. the true insanity. Is no one cares (ain' thadda beach). But, there are enough souls living in the real world. Taking virtual razor blades to the confederacy of traitors. One lil slicey pooh at a time. Wait, watch, see. There is no way on G*d's green earth, this malignant gangrenous pustule will serve out his term.

Wake up - Palin's not ever going to be president. She's really not interested in governing - she had one of those jobs and quit. But she does love the limelight.
But a Palin Family Reality show could be the number 1 show on TV.
As for Obama, the stuff about his birth certificate is idiocy. As is him being a Muslim, born in Kenya, a socialist, etc. etc. etc.

....and yet, i'd still like to see exactly how the man was vetted with regard to constitutional eligibility. oh, and his passport and school records. Oh, and could someone please ask him why he has spent to much, paid to Perkins Coie to keep his background secret? Oh, and could someone ask Nancy Pelosi why she removed the "constitutional eligibility" clause on the DNC's certification of eligibility for Obama but not Biden... oh, and...on and on. Those of you who think this is a "non-issue" are the useful idiots.

"It was, to coin a phrase, just Sarah being Sarah. If you don't like it, I doubt she cares that much what you think. So, you better find a way to deal with it, she's unlikely to change."
Do you mean that it was just Sarah being Sarah in that she stated something as if it were fact in spite of its total lack of grounding in reality?
(While Obama has provided his birth certificate for verification, thereby closing this issue for all sane people, Sarah hasn't done the same for Trig's. I don't think Trig is Bristol's baby, but it is patently false that the documentation to prove this has been presented)
Also, I don't think the people who don't like Sarah have to find a way to deal with it. Her national approval numbers are such that she will never have a place on the national political stage unless SHE is the one to make the change and move towards the middle. She could stay on the national stage by getting a show on FoxNews, where those unconcerned with facts (aka her constituency), can feel free to gawk at the impending train wreck to their heart's delight. Even if that happens, it will not force those of us who think she is a total waste of energy in our national discourse to "deal with it." We will just get to ignore her, as those who really care about having a strong, reasoned opposition party should be doing.

Really strange how anyone can equate whether or not Sarah Palin is Trig's mother to whether or not Obama meets the Constitutional requirements for POTUS.
Posted by: jane | Saturday, December 05, 2009 at 05:45 PM
If you think that Sarah Palin is honest, you obviously have not done your homework or are extremely easily duped. She is one of the most blatant hypocrites and liars ever to emerge on the political scene, and that is saying something. She wraps herself in the flag and uses her children and her sex as shields. Regarding equating whether Sarah is Trig's birth mother with the Obama birther craziness: they are not equal because the President has provided documentation to prove that he meets the Constitutional requirements. Sarah's own birth information is not in question; it is her honesty that is. She has never produced any independently verifiable documentation of Trig's birth; and she was photographed in March and early April 2008 with an absolutely flat abdomen (which most women her age would be envious of, were it not for the fact she was claiming to be pregnant). The issue is about whether she perpetrated a hoax on the American people, and incurious journalists such as you are quite akin to the observers in "The Emperor Has No Clothes." Do some honest research -- really look into this -- and then come back and tell your readers what you found. Go to Palingates or Bree Palin. You'll be surprised. (True confession: I totally believed and admired Sarah at first, until I saw the photos of her un-pregnant.)
Posted by: kokay | Saturday, December 05, 2009 at 07:56 PM
Yes...as we know, a picture is always a perfect representation of reality.
You loved Palin until YOU SAW A PICTURE of her "un-pregnant."
You saw a picture of her WOMB?
Now, that's impressive!
Posted by: Huey | Saturday, December 05, 2009 at 08:42 PM
they are not equal because the President has provided documentation to prove that he meets the Constitutional requirements.
I still want to know why the DNC and Obama have spent so much money to block lawsuits when he has supposedly provided the documents. Something does not pass the smell test. The people will find out, all of this "transparency" which has been no transparency at all is becoming tiresome. The corrupt attorneys who have held our country hostage and are stealing us blind will be brought down. Americans are angry as hell, they are finding out how much they have been lied to. Palin is not in office, I could care less, the POTUS and his group of corruptocrats are liars. It is pathetic and sad that you don't care, you care more about a woman who is not holding office. Get your priorities straight, if not stop wasting our time.

Does Sarah Palin suffer from speech disorder called dysfluency, aka "anacoluthon? Does this explain why she speaks so weird in interviews?
An expert on speech and language disorders, but not a medical doctor, tells me:
Sir,
Although I think it's fair to say that during interviews (that is, in
unscripted speech) former Alaskan Gov. Sarah Palin has sometimes exhibited dysfluency (a
general term for speech that isn't smoothly delivered or grammatically
well formed), I'm not qualified to judge whether she suffers from a
chronic speech disorder. (Anacoluthon, by the way, is not usually
considered a chronic disorder; rather, it's an occasional practice that we
may all fall into--especially in times of stress.) For a credible
diagnosis of Ms Palin's speech patterns, you really should consult with a speech-language pathologist,

I don't doubt Obama's legal qualifications for the office of president are tainted by his real birth certificate. He was born in Hawaii I'll accept.
However, I strongly suspect that there are scandalous facts on the official record that Obama does not want to the public to see.
For example, the resemblance to Frank Davis is very strong while his namesake "father" doesn't look anything like the son.
This is not Barry's fault. Alexander Hamilton was also illegitimate and he turned out to be a faithful public servant. The sins of the fathers and the mothers do not "taint the blood" of the children.
However, so much of Obama's public narrative (and book sales!) is based on his decent from a real African that any other story would collapse his story and confuse the public. I could also see a legitimate motivation in shielding his mother's reputation although that would be secondary to him and his clique.

Where is Trig's birth certificate? As far as I can find online, she has NOT produced it. So, that statement is false.
I don't care at all whether or not she's Trig's birth mother. What I'm concerned with is whether or not she's telling the truth. If she adopted him, then she faked her pregnancy. And, she's been lying to the nation ever since. THAT is why I'd like to see Trig's birth certificate.
