h/t to Michelle Malkin with additional links to Gridiron Dinner coverage. I found an interesting quote from Palin via one of them. But what the heck is it with Sarah Palin? The attendees at the DC dinner numbered twice what they usually do? Pretty impressive for someone we are always told is insignificant. She really is proving to be a unique phenomenon in politics, especially as it isn't driven by the great media love that followed Obama. This is a press event, after all.
This joke especially cracked me up. And she did mention Iowa, by the way.
As for the president, Palin joked that she was looking at a magazine cover of Obama and Chinese president Hu Jinato during an airplane flight. A nearby passenger stated, "Hu's the Communist," she related.
And, Palin said, "I thought he was asking a question."
While the Gridiron winter meeting is usually a small, low key affair, Palin’s appearance attracted a crowd of 195 — about double the average attendance of Gridiron members and their guests.
As for her own presidential ambitions. Palin was mum.. She did tell the crowd that on Sunday she'd be in Iowa — "from noon to three at Barnes and Noble. Come early, long lines are expected."

Funny stuff and, sadly, so true.

"Hu's the Communist,"? 99% of the democrat party. President O'Dumbo is far past that as a Marxist. Guess he wants in on his uncles and cousins action. They're killing thousands in Kenya.

Here are some more of her jokes from tonight:
-"It's good to be here though, really, in front of this audience of leading journalists and intellectuals, or as I like to call it, a death panel."
-"I went out for a jog. Or as newsweek calls it--a photo shoot."
-"sometimes you've got to trust your instincts and when you don't, you end up in places like this "
-Palin jokes if biden hadn't been elected and was out selling his book it would be "going Rogaine"
- "if I need a bald campaign manager, I guess all i am left with is james carville." (dig at Steve Schmidt)
-Palin jokes big announcement: "tomorrow I am going to Iowa ......noon to 3p at barnes & noble "
-Palin tells gridiron about her book tour: "the view is better from on the bus ... Than under it."
-Gov palin at gridiron jokes normally dem speaker next but: "McCain campaign staff asked if they could have that time for rebuttal."
-Palin jokes book title debate included "the audacity of the north slope."
-On being on the same program as Frank "And I'm the controversial one?

Here's the thing: that "Hu's the Communist" joke was supposed to be, you know, a joke.
But what it really was was a dual signal: to Obama's guardians in the MSM and the Political Class that she was unafraid to attack him on any level, and to the Base that she was the only one that they could count on to carry the fight to the enemy in the enemy's back yard.

It's a good question, specially since both Hu and Volodnya, (Putin) are more capitalist than Obama, but Andrea screwed up the delivery of the line

Enough of the fluff, let's see her on Meet The Press and answer some real questions or hold a public open press conference. That will be the real test.

Ok, so Sarah can deliver a string of decently written humour lines.

Not only are Sarah Palin's jokes very funny, conservatives in general tell much better jokes. I'm reminded (sadly) of McCain's outstanding performance at the dinner last year (forget the name, something like Albert something Memorial Dinner, an annual event put on by a Catholic function). His jokes even had Hillary laughing, and those moments were the first time I saw Hillary in a sympathetic warm way. Indeed, I sensed that the media in attendance was relieved to relax and enjoy the humor. One of his lines I still laugh over: 'Everyone knows the media is ethical, honest and trustworthy.... like ACORN.'
Leftist jokes usually don't work well, and there are logical reasons for why that is.
Sarah Palin is genuine: she comes from bedrock American values, and that is what people see in her. The rage from the Left and the elite (even Republican elite) exposes that their opposition is not just to Palin, but to American values themselves. By their intensity, they condemn themselves.
May G-d Bless America. And may G-d continue to Bless, guide and protect Sarah Palin.
Best regards, Peter Warner.

Right, enjoy wingnut Andrew Breitbart's latest "joke":
*Capital punishment for Dr James Hansen. Climategate is high treason.*
http://twitter.com/andrewbreitbart/status/6173170765
And speaking of McCain, "why is Chelsea Clinton so ugly?" The answer is so funny, that even Bill Clinton's white house dog laughed(ask Rush Limbaugh). And not to forget McCain's taste--like other conservatives--for 'rape' jokes.

FKD, u jus' sayin' that cuz Palin always nails Obama's ass. She did it at the GOP Convention, devastatingly, with a remark about the styrofoam pillars; she did it recently with her comment that the birth certificate issue is a fair question; then she did it with her joke about Hu and Obambi. Your problem, and Obama's, is that Palin's not afraid to go gunning for Obama. He's deathly scared of her, which is why he and his minions have done everything they can to break her. She's still swimming and giving Obama nightmares cuz she's got the courage to call him out in the exact areas where he's weak—pretty much everywhere!

And the competition?
Huck’s done for 2012- bad week!
Mitt is in a political hole with conservatives for his failed Massachessets HC plan that’s hardly any better than Obama’s… and a pitiful response to NY-23’s special election drama (if there was ANY response, I sure don’t recall it).
Meanwhile, the Arctic Fox’s book is #1 while crowds swell at her signings… and a poll now shows her vs Obama’s approval numbers closed within the margin of error… I think we all can see where this is headed

I think the problem with some on this post is that Sarah Palin has more guts and bigger "balls" if you will than the fake ass men they support. We're probably dealing with so called guys who want that bitch pretty boy Romney to win. Romney who's a complete sell out and a joke. Newt is tail spinning as well.
All you commentators just come out and say what your real beef is and who you support. Stop with these stupid games already. You guys are like the progressive left, always covering their real agenda with crazy ass comments. Grab your two raisins and your tic tac and tell us what you really want in detail and quit trashing a good women.
What are some of you Muslims? With this penchant for smacking up a woman with your comments.
Romney is a progressive. He instituted universal health care and it's a disaster. He was for abortion than conveniently is against in time for the campaign. Did I mention he's from Massachusetts?
Newt has some good ideas but he showed his hand in NY-23, a GOP Kool-Aid drinker. Screw principles, screw American ideals just as long the jerk off has an R that person's good to go!
Either you're trolls or just misguided fools who are wasting ammo on someone who loves the U.S. but if she isn't your thing than may I introduce Lt. Col. Allen West? Or is he too much man?

'"Hu's the Communist!" Nice...'
Irony is that the fellow passenger asked Palin a straight forward question, "Who's the communits", you know he was having fun with word play over her well-known world knowledge. But she thought he was informing her that Hu was indeed the communist, not Obama. And then she got the joke on word play. But the bigger joke she, and her fans, haven't realized yet is 'She'.

And her father suggests that she left school in Hawaii because Asians and other non-whites made her uncomfortable? Oops!

Sam Tanenhaus' New Yorker review of Sarah Palin's book, as well as another book about the former governor, contains this nugget:
"Palin, though notoriously ill-traveled outside the United States, did journey far to the first of the four colleges she attended, in Hawaii. She and a friend who went with her lasted only one semester. "Hawaii was a little too perfect," Palin writes. "Perpetual sunshine isn't necessarily conducive to serious academics for eighteen-year-old Alaska girls." Perhaps not. But Palin's father, Chuck Heath, gave a different account to Conroy and Walshe. According to him, the presence of so many Asians and Pacific Islanders made her uncomfortable: "They were a minority type thing and it wasn't glamorous, so she came home." In any case, Palin reports that she much preferred her last stop, the University of Idaho, "because it was much like Alaska yet still 'Outside.' "

Yeah, right. Empty heads don't get new ideas.
PS. The bar for stupidity is set very low here. So no, i can't be "more stupid" than at least Palin and her fan base.
PSS> Se my previous comment o Sarah Plain's "richly diverse life" (*cough cough*) experience in Hawaii to Idaho: Sarah's little mind was blown like a cracked radiator by dealing with all those different cultures and ideas. She had to run home to the shelter of white people and narrow minded religion.

That's a straw man. No one's claiming that she is a racist based on that fact, nor did i say she was "afraid" of other cultures; she was just a little mind who was "uncomfortable", that's all.
Oh, here's a slightly larger excerpt from the New Yorker article (just so that no one's hiding the fact about Todd's 'part' Eskimo lineage:
________________________
She is equally circumspect on the issue of ethnicity, pointing out that Todd, whom she met in high school, is “part Yupik Eskimo” and opened her to the “social diversity” of Alaska. (Wasilla is more than eighty per cent white.)Palin, though notoriously ill-travelled outside the United States, did journey far to the first of the four colleges she attended, in Hawaii. Point remains that "what this really shows is Palin's deep-seated provincialism that has been on display ever since the campaign. And it's that very provincialism - knowing where the "real" America is - that appeals to her devoted Know Nothing followers."
"So does this mean that Sarah is a racist? Well not necessarily, but it does demonstrate that she feels much more comfortable surrounded by people who are "like her", whether that be racially, religiously, or politically."

Jeebus, FKD you really seem to have your knickers in a knot today. Must be that you just don't like those folks in flyover country, or those who espouse flyover country ideas. Politically you may have a point; there are more of "them"--non flyover folks, than there are of "us"--flyover folks.
We've now had about a year's worth to tasting non flyover values; and it seems that they taste about like a meadow muffin. I expect that the folks won't be buying that particular brand next year, and probably not in 2012.

Mike Myers | Sunday,
That is MSM narrative which the facts just do not support. The USa population is made up of 70-75% Whites, 10-12% Blacks, 12-15% Latinos and the rest asian and others.
Also the NYC-DC area only contains about 1/6th of the population or about 16%. the top 6 liberal urban enclaves in the USA house less than 20mil people. Which in a country of +300million is called a small minority.
The vast majority of the USA population is centered in mid-small towns dotted across the land. While the very rural is like the city liberals a smaller minority they still outnumber the liberals in the cities. However, it is those small-mid town values that is what is mostly meant when speaking of flyover country. And they are the vast majority of this country. the MSM and PC crowd wants those in flyover land to think they are a minority so they do not try to stand up for their values.
The entire narrative about the population make-up, politcal leanings of that population and cultural make-up of that population of the MSM is hogwash and not backed-up by the facts on the ground. Much like the climategate hoax.

The funny part is that the Obama Party, which posts people out in front of polling places calling white people "crackers" and threatening them with nightsticks, has the chutzpah to call anyone else racist.
But then again, we should remember the core values of the Obama Party and what Barack Obama supports and endorses.
"Convinced that all whites were born tainted with the original sin of “skin privilege,” the fighting brigade of the New Left internalized racialist thinking as hatred of their own whiteness. “All white babies are pigs,” declared one Weatherman. On one occasion the feminist poet Robin Morgan was breast-feeding her son at the offices of the radical journal Rat. A Weatherwoman saw this and told her, “You have no right to have that pig male baby.” “How can you say that?” Morgan asked. “What should I do?” “Put it in the garbage,” the Weatherwoman answered."

"Hu Jinato" --> Hu Jintao.
I supposed the quote should have included a "[sic]," but why point out the obvious: facts refute Progressivism. Checking the data (East Anglia), using fact-checkers to provide accurate spellings (Politico), confirming accurate quotations (Mitchell), are beyond the ability of Progressives. They're too stupid to rule.
