Page 148 Of Health Care Bill

I was in the car and heard this below discussed by patient advocate Betsy McCaughey of Defend Your Healthcare on Mark Levin's radio show tonight. So, I looked it up. From pages 148 - 149 of the Senate health care bill, here it is folks. A "qualified health plan" means any health insurance plan in the US, including private plans most now currently employ. Well, except for our elected officials in DC, of course. They will get to make their own health care decisions. But not you, or your doctor.

Beginning on January 1, 2015, a qualified health plan may contract with—

(B) a health care provider only if such provider implements such mechanisms to improve health care quality as the Secretary may by regulation require.

In plain English, any decision you, or your doctor, might make as regards your personal health care can and likely will ultimately have been pre-determined by Washington, DC. If a bureaucrat writes a regulation, and those will not be written or known until perhaps 18 months after this ridiculous bill has been passed, that will determine what is and what isn't an acceptable health care choice for you, or your doctor.

The Federal Government will sit squarely in between every doctor-patient relationship that is deemed qualified for insurance purposes. Public or private, it won't matter. And they can write whatever regulations they want. There is no way to predict what any future regulations might be. But you'll take it or leave it, or leave any soon to be alleged privately insured health care system, while being penalized for that, too.

There will be no such thing as private health insurance any more. The federal government will dictate it all by regulation.

the side of this that I don't get...

if the govt becomes a de facto hmo, does that put trial lawyers out on the street?
