No matter what, this is a trojan horse to give the far Left precisely what they want eventually. It's time to call your Senator if a Democrat, as well as other Democrats. They need to feel the heat and told they will burn, especially if up in 2010. There's still opposition in the House, as well. Stupak working with GOP to oppose? That suggests Nelson is going to pull the plug in 2012 and isn't worried about the Right-to-Life movement any longer. What a sell-out he's turning out to be. Blue Dogs up in 2010 need to be made to remember Nelson's shame and pay for it at the polls.
The leader of the National Organization for Women (NOW) excoriated the language in the health bill curtailing federal support for insurance plan covering abortions, which was inserted to win the 60th vote of Sen. Ben Nelson (D-Neb.).
"The so-called health care reform bill now before the Senate, with the addition of Majority Leader Harry Reid's Manager's Amendment, amounts to a health insurance bill for half the population and a sweeping anti-abortion law for the rest of us," NOW President Terry O'Neill said in a statement.

Harry Reid finds Nelson’s price. This reminds me of a joke I heard once…

First Mary in Louisiana, then Bernie in Vermont, now Ben “I have my principles” Nelson. It is said that everybody has their price, and I guess the men and women in Congress are no exception. Kind of like Tiger’s women, some a little more expensive, some on the cheap, even his wife signed up for 20 million for ten years (sounds like a professional athlete contract doesn’t it?) But we hoped for better. They all know this bill is a monster that will destroy their nation, but they will still vote the party line, for a price. As Mary puts it, (I won’t call her Senator any longer, when I worked the street I didn’t call the street walkers by their last name either.) it was three hundred million not one hundred- so there!
Years ago I heard a joke that puts all of this in perspective. As I was working in my shop, I remembered it and though it was worth sharing. Here goes:
“Once there was a man who was rather crude but direct. One of his co-workers was a haughty-taughty female who found him somewhat repulsive. During one of their constant sharp tongued back and forths the man asks her a question. “Look, be honest. Would you sleep with me for a million dollars?” The woman paused, sizing the man up and down, thinking about her response. Finally she said, “For a million dollars, I would.” The man looks at her. “Would you sleep with me for twenty dollars?” The woman threw her head back and smirked. “Of course not, what do you think I am, a whore?” At which the man said coolly, “We have already established that. What we are doing is haggling over the price.”
If someone had asked me if I would witness a time where not only are the politicians we elected to protect us being bought off so easily, but that the same politicians would do it in the open with an arrogant disregard for us, I would have laughed out loud and said, “At least they would have the common sense to do it where we couldn’t see it. They can’t be suicidal!”
Boy was I wrong.

NOW, they tell us.
It's all theater.

If people weren’t pissed enough at the power-drunk Dems before, they likely are now…
These tools like Nelson will soon regret the day they did this for Obama, he’ll pull all them right-over the abyss with him… and watch the coming GOP majority rescind it anyway

If instead of just regurgitating political talking points, you actually took the time to develop a sophisticated understanding of the legislation -- its central purpose, the provisions achieving its central purpose, how the provisions interact with one another, etc. -- and the political realities of getting such legislation passed, you might actually reduce the number of dumba$$ comments you make, and reduce our need to call you on such comments. Now it's not too late to change, so why don't you try taking the time to develop a sophisticated understanding of the legislation instead of just spewing out talking points?

"...actually took the time to develop a sophisticated understanding of the legislation -- its central purpose, the provisions achieving its central purpose, how the provisions interact with one another, etc...."
Real law making doesn't demand sophistication, it requires an understanding of the Constitution and the willingness to act within its stated restrictions on the interference of government in the lives of citizens. None of which can be found in Washington DC except in the office of Rep Ron Paul. If more law givers would say NO to the crap sandwiches they build in DC, the better off this country and world would be. No amount of sophistication will ever restore personal freedom or balance a budget. To think any other way is socialist and counter-productive.
BTW, absolutely nothing positive will come from this monstrosity called health care reform (which isn't reform, has nothing to do with health care, and destroys the free market's last bit of light)...at least, positive for citizens. We all know that the lawyers, politicians, and multinational corporations will benefit.
