This is a stimulating and informative read from Michael Moriarity at Big Hollywood. Who knew? And he begins with the Bowery Boys. heh! Seriously, he succinctly traces Progressivist art, film and cultural influences from that period, read Communism, right up to today and ties it in with Soros, Obama, Marxism and where we find ourselves.
Very informed and insightful. And I always figured him for a political wimp! lol
A deal has been struck between the World Marxists and an amazingly small oligarchy of American capitalists across party lines. They comprise the inner circle of Progressivism … and George Soros particularly “pulled the money strings” to get Barack Obama elected.
Their objective?
A “Collective” run by the Progressive Oligarchy.
An Animal Farm.
Hmmm … sound appealing?
At least it’s a magnet for lower-classes, right? Those who are still taught in the increasingly Marxist public school system that this Oligarchy out of the Ivy League is going to “redistribute the wealth” … right?
Well … the motivations for the lower-classes to climb up were, and still are, the privileges achieved within the free-market, capitalist system – all of which, under Marxism, will be gone, except for the chosen elite handpicked by the Oligarchy!
The promised “Change” of the Obama Nation is a bait and switch, shell game; and the established artists of today will find their own liberties curtailed … and, much like Orwell, come to abhor Communism.
However by then, it will be too late.

Wow. I always thought Moriarty was a huge leftie, especially with his character on Law and Order. What a surprise. Will definitely read.

No, he is a really long time libertarian, got into a big argument with Janet Reno over Waco, it's Sam Waterson, who's the real lefty

It's funny that he just saw "Dead End" for the first time a few days ago. I've seen it many times and loved it but it never convinced me that communism is good and capitalism is bad, and I grew up poor, in a poor neighborhood.
He thinks the setting is the Lower East Side but I think it is Uptown. I think there was a large slum area on the East River up around 57th Street that was also comprised of slaughter-houses. I'll look it up later when I have time.

I have been reading Michael's articles for the past 10 years or so. He is ideologically a small "l" libertarian.
Check out his article from 2004, writing about 2008:

Yeah, he knew TehWon was coming and what he would do. Scary.
then there is this:

Remember, you have to read him as though you are listening to someone that has a lexicon of prose and verbage to throw around: and he doesn't do it just "show off". heh.
He's great. I need to get one of his novels and see how they compare to his brief editorials.

i rememeber some story abour janet reno, michael moriarty, and the clintons, but not the details.
the wiki entry is rather hazy, but the gist was consitent with my memory. there was more to the story, than the wiki entry provides though.
it is rather funny that moriarty suggested his departure was a result of dick wolf currying favor with the wh, and here we are, over ten years later, and law and order is running propoganda for universal healthcare.

MM came out the political closet after Waco [as mentioned above].
I was under the impression that he got 'blacklisted' by the Hollywood Left after that since his 'face-time' on the small [and big] screen got REAL scarce after that.
As far as I could tell, only the BIG box-office draws could get away with being 'non-lefty' during the Clinton Years.
For me, that was the turning point for 'avid' moving-going; only the LOTR trilogy got back into the theater.
They don't get a dime from me.

I always wondered what Michael Moriarty would do to make himself relevant again. Seeing how many teabags he could fit in his mouth and waving his hands for the whole world to see hadn't occurred to me however.

The guy sounds like a total nut.

I know virtually nothing about how television is produced but don't the writers/producers define the themes of the show? Moriarty certainly is talented as well as intelligent but how much of the material does he (or any actor for that matter) have say over?
