Owned by McClatchy, this isn't the first round of cuts, they previously made a far more significant one. No reporters gone. However, the newsroom did take a hit. They're cutting back production resources.
MIAMI (AP) - The Miami Herald will eliminate 24 positions companywide and reduce working hours for departments directly related to newspaper production.
The company made the announcement on Wednesday. The newsroom lost six positions and reduced some hours, but no reporting jobs were affected.
The newspaper—owned by McClatchy Co._ earlier this year cut 175 jobs and stopped distributing its international edition in Latin America and the Caribbean.

So layers of editors and fact-checkers are getting the axe.
That'll work.

If so many jobs were cut then there are fewer people left to cut. So how does less jobs cut this year compared to last year be a sign of recovery, when there aren'y as many jobs left to cut.
