Wow. Is Progressivism a mental disorder? It at least sometimes appears to be and the first symptom may be dishonesty. Link is to Weasel Zippers. h/t Instapundit.
Who would have thought that Chuckles Johnson would one day become Dan Rather himself?

It has to be. They support eugenics yet call us fascists. They support institutions and parties that promote racism yet call us racists. They actively aid and abet the enemy yet they say they support the troops. They support tyranny yet claim they want freedom and "justice"!
That's why damn near every post I hammer progressives. It's what's wrong with America. Dan, do a quick search of our history and damn near every debacle, every grievance countries have of us was caused by a progressive.
I believe terrorists will come here to fight us and they will come with the help of the progressives.

Damn, USMC, don't assume Dan is your level of Deranged.

Woodrow Wilson was the last century's Obama - a horrible president who embroiled us in the Great War.
Had we but sat that one out, and let the Germans and the Franco-British resolve their affairs, the war would most likely have negotiated a cease-fire with Germany keeping Elsass-Lothringen (Alsace-Lorraine) and maintaining Belgium and possibly one or more north-eastern French departments as de-militarized zones.
Then we could have invested in rebuilding the infrastructure of both groups of nations (Central Powers and Allied Powers)... and the Middle East need not have been partitioned along such illogical lines that lethally mixed disagreeing tribal groups.
And a certain paperhanger/Austrian corporal might have also died in a Viennese gutter somewhere, before ever drawing anyone's notice, leaving the (largely) Jewish brain trust in the German Empire rather intact.

To FKD, I tried this on Bob and like a true progressive he bitched and moaned and said the classic "out of context" line. You'll probably do the same but with different words. Enjoy the following:
"The tone and tendency of liberalism...is to attack the institutions of the country under the name of reform and to make war on the manners and customs (and freedom) of the people under the pretext of progress." --Disraeli, "Speech in London"
Progressives in their own words and some extras:
Quickie on race:
"The most prominent of these, the Ku Klux Klan, was formed in Pulaski, Tennessee, in 1865. Originally founded as a social club for former Confederate soldiers, the Klan evolved into a terrorist organization. It would be responsible for thousands of deaths, and would help to weaken the political power of Southern blacks and Republicans." - from the American Experience website run by PBS, not known for its right wing slant, http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/amex/grant/peopleevents/e_klan.html
"Now to bring about government by oligarchy masquerading as democracy, it is fundamentally essential that practically all authority and control be centralized in our national government. The individual sovereignty of our states must first be destroyed, except in mere minor matters of legislation." -- FDR March 2, 1930
"We should hire three or four colored ministers, preferably with social-service backgrounds, and with engaging personalities. The most successful educational approach to the Negro is through a religious appeal. We don't want the word to go out that we want to exterminate the Negro population. and the minister is the man who can straighten out that idea if it ever occurs to any of their more rebellious members." - Margaret Sanger's December 19, 1939 letter to Dr. Clarence Gamble. Sanger is the founder of Planned Parenthood.
Margaret Sanger talked of "Eugenic sterilization is an urgent need ... We must prevent multiplication of this bad stock."
"The undeniably feeble-minded should, indeed, not only be discouraged but prevented from propagating their kind."
From wikipedia Nazi eugenics were Nazi Germany's racially-based social policies that placed the improvement of the race through eugenics at the center of their concerns and targeted those humans they identified as "life unworthy of life" (German Lebensunwertes Leben), including but not limited to the criminal, degenerate, dissident, feeble-minded, homosexual, idle, insane, religious, and weak, for elimination from the chain of heredity. More than 400,000 people were sterilized against their will, while 70,000 were killed in the Action T4.[1]
Let's get someone more modern how about some of Hussein's czars?!
"considers prognosis, since its aim is to achieve complete lives. A young person with a poor prognosis has had a few life-years but lacks the potential to live a complete life. Considering prognosis forestalls the concern the disproportionately large amounts of resources will be directed to young people with poor prognoses. When the worst-off can benefit only slightly while better-off people could benefit greatly, allocating to the better-off is often justifiable....
When implemented, the complete lives system produces a priority curve on which individuals aged between roughly 15 and 40 years get the most chance, whereas the youngest and oldest people get chances that are attenuated." - Ezekiel Emmanuel, health adviser to Obama
"Now look, it happens to be true that a lot of expense is in end-of-life care, but some of that expense is associated with the fact that the family is in a guilt trap because they don’t know — they want to do everything they can to save Dad or Mom." - Rep. Keith Ellison (D)
"Adding a sterilant to drinking water or staple foods is a suggestion that seems to horrify people more than most proposals for involuntary fertility control. Indeed, this would pose some very difficult political, legal, and social questions, to say nothing of the technical problems. No such sterilant exists today, nor does one appear to be under development. To be acceptable, such a substance would have to meet some rather stiff requirements: it must be uniformly effective, despite widely varying doses received by individuals, and despite varying degrees of fertility and sensitivity among individuals; it must be free of dangerous or unpleasant side effects; and it must have no effect on members of the opposite sex, children, old people, pets, or livestock." - John Holdren, Obama's Science Czar
Progressive is an umbrella term it covers all these ant-American ideologies: socialism, Marxism, Leninism, communism, communitarianism, fascism, Nazism, evolution.
The Progressives took over the Democrat party because:
“The American people will never knowingly adopt socialism. But, under the name of “liberalism”, they will adopt every fragment of the socialist program, until one day America will be a socialist nation, without knowing how it happened..I no longer need to run as a Presidential Candidate for the Socialist Party. The Democratic Party has adopted our platform.”
-Norman Thomas (November 20, 1884 – December 19, 1968) was a leading American socialist, pacifist, and six-time presidential candidate for the Socialist Party of America.
Now I've shown you how the progressives have completely taken over the DNC and to a large degree the RNC (see Teddy Roosevelt, McCain, Snowe, Bush, etc., etc.)
But these past decades another group that has the same goals as the Progressives have aligned themselves with your side:
"Under these circumstances, there will be no harm if the interests of Muslims converge with the interests of the socialists in the fight against the crusaders, despite our belief in the infidelity of socialists." - Osama Bin Laden in 2003
Are you going to refute this or just call me names and act stupid? I've yet met a liberal that could refute this and those who dared try fell flat on their faces.

USMC,
Most troubling is that your list just scratches the surface of Progressive hatred.

Um.........."Now, to bring about government by oligarchy masquerading as democracy, it is fundamentally essential that practically all authority and control be centralized in our National Government. The individual sovereignty of our States must first be destroyed, except in mere minor matters of legislation. We are safe from the danger of any such departure from the principles on which this country was founded just so long as the individual home rule of the States is scrupulously preserved and fought for whenever it seems in danger."
Even I question your context on this one.

You've confused Democrats and Progressives - they aren't the same.
It's true, Southern Democrats used to be pretty much hard-core racists. Then came LBJ, his support for the Civil Rights act and the exit of the southern racists from the Democratic Party to the Republican Party. Then Nixon hatched the now infamous Southern Strategy to claim the South as Republican territory. Republicans even apologized for it a few years ago.
Refute that.
Posted by: WPE | Monday, December 07, 2009 at 01:45 PM
WPE - Democrats are ruled by Progressives so does it matter? Maybe the Democrats should clean house of this progressive crap and stop voting them into power.
The foundation and almost entire history of the DNC is racist. Your foundation is rotten to begin with.
LBJ had the help of a Republican Senator Everett McKinley Dirksen. LBJ thanked him and the GOP for their great help in passing the act. Only 6 Repub. voted against along with 21 Dems.
That's all you got? Honestly, all that stuff I posted and all you can say is the Democrats are different than the Progressives. That doesn't cut it.
Roscoe- I'll look into that and thanks for the clarification.
Posted by: USMC | Monday, December 07, 2009 at 03:14 PM
And if Dirksen were in the Senate today, you'd be calling him a RINO, cause he was willing to work with Democrats. Something today's Tea Baggers won't stand for.
That FDR speech you quote from was a state's rights speech. But you wouldn't know if since the quote is out of contect.
Same for much of the rest of your post. Taking a few words out of context and trying to define a whole political movement - small mind?
Posted by: WPE | Monday, December 07, 2009 at 03:31 PM
WPE - Didn't I acknowledge the FDR quote? Something you damn progressives never do, admit mistakes. Didn't you see my post thanking Roscoe?
Show me what else I got out of "context". I'd support the Democrats if they actually did something worth while.
You belong to a party that is racist, founded by racists and killed thousands of people to keep racism alive and you run your mouth and assume I'd call Dirkens a RINO if he worked with the Dems to abolish racist policies?
One day somebody is going to whip your ass for that "tea bagger" remark.

A whole long post on why this is BS - and another quote you pulled out of context.
http://www.politifact.com/truth-o-meter/statements/2009/jul/29/glenn-beck/glenn-beck-claims-science-czar-john-holdren-propos/
"But with regard to Beck's claim that Holdren "has proposed forcing abortions and putting sterilants in the drinking water to control population," the text of the book clearly does not support that. We think a thorough reading shows that these were ideas presented as approaches that had been discussed. They were not posed as suggestions or proposals. In fact, the authors make clear that they did not support coercive means of population control. Certainly, nowhere in the book do the authors advocate for forced abortions."

That's laughable. Ask all those dead Russians and Nazis how brotherly they feel.
And calling evolution unAmerican is just head-in-the-sand stupid.
Posted by: WPE | Monday, December 07, 2009 at 08:11 PM
The Nazis and the Commies both thought they were pretty darn progressive in their respective spheres.
And evolution is thought to be a form of progression, from lower forms of life to higher.
Thing is, the evidence points to a diminishing of quality in the gene pool over time as mutations delete genetic information from being passed on.
Also: chimps are 5-8 times stronger, pound-for-pound ... than humans. If humans and chimps are descended from a common ape-like critter, why is it that our ancestors did not retain the superior muscularity closer to chimps?
One would think that being able to lob-toss a 400kg object with a single hand would confer a distinct advantage over the weaker monkeys that (supposedly) evolved into humans.

Tell you what. When you can explain to me the actual reason Sarah the Quitter left the Governor's office, I'll ponder for a split-second whether or not a progressive has ever told a lie. I'm even going to give you a pass on Bush, Libby, Cheney, Gonzo, Harriet Myers, David Addington, John Yoo, Donald Rumsfeld, Strom Thurmond, Jesse Helms, Newt Gingrich, Bob Livingston, and Kay Bailey. Because we progressives are nice people and I hate to have you feel discomfitted.
