They don't call it an Old Boy's Club for nothing. How long do you think it will be before the Progressive protecters of women everywhere stand up to take this scandal on? The media isn't even interested in reporting on it. It's always ideology first with these folks. If a woman is abused, well, it's all for the good of the larger cause, right?
What a sad joke. Interesting that Mr. Health Care, Tom Daschle is said to have been involved in one case. Maybe that explains the lack of concern with early mammograms? They seem to prefer them young, anyway. Jerks!
The staffer - Christine Neidermeier - has not spoken about the incident on the public record - until now. She was contacted by the Examiner:
Niedermeier, now a lawyer in Fairfield, Conn., told The Examiner that Baucus pursued her relentlessly, asking her jealously about other boyfriends and suggesting the two vacation together. She said he even proposed marriage. Niedermeier said his unwelcome overtures, which were seen by the rest of the staff, made it impossible for her to run the office.
Niedermeier said she sought help from staff in the office of then-Minority Leader Tom Daschle, D-S.D., a close friend of Baucus, shortly before she was fired...
As for Niedermeier, she said she was promised a five-figure settlement from Baucus 10 years ago, but he failed to deliver it. Her subsequent court case against him was tossed out because it exceeded a special 90-day filing deadline for suits against members of Congress.
Niedermeier said senators are protected in ways that workers in the private sector are not.

someone has it out for Baucus. That's two leaks in a week. the politics of personal destruction is ongoing. what I want to know is why him and why now? Is this payback for his healthcarebill? I would LOVE to get the reasons why. i am sure almost every senator has this stuff in their record. Why him and why now?

I think it's health care, too, un. There may be an even bigger shoe being held back as leverage for a pro or con vote, perhaps?

Perhaps. the fact that the MSM is not going with it seems to suggest it is those that are opposed to healthcare bill (if that is the reason for these leaks), since the MSM is in the tank for the bill. Is there other bills in his committee that are up for a vote. Does he chair over the new finaical regulations being proposed? or cap and tax?
either way I think the GOP should sieze the oppurtunity presented by this news and drive the message of corruption within the Dem party. with $ bill jefferson, Rangel, baucus and others the message could have legs like the house bank scandal in 1994 or the jack ambroff of 2006-08.
however it would take an outsider not part of the establishment to really drive the message home. someone like Palin or even Huck. Mitt seems to close to Dc for his voice to have an impact on something like this.
With Palin being a woman she could play on the "woman outrage" angle more so than a male. A good scandal could derail many bad bills making their way thru Congress until the spring IMO

Scandals don't have much effect on Democrats since they are expected to be low-lifes.

tha tis only true for strong dem areas. Purple areas and red districts with a dem congresscritter is another story. Remember the bluedogs like bucas ran to the right of the GOP in 2006-2008 esp on social issues like bribery and corruption.

The MSM looks the other way on this, yet has dozens of fact checkers reading "Going Rogue." The Women's Movement is dead. The Democrats killed it with partisanship.

I don't understand how anyone could have believed that the Democrats were going to clean up Congress, but that's what they ran on in 2006, and it worked!

Why him? Why Now?
Because he tried to get his girlfriend a job as US attorney...
And because he is a serial abuser, so these things come out of the closet.
Because he did it!

Some look at the present dirty Democrat senators and ask "Why?". I look at the future to see those seats held by politicians that have honor, and ask "Why not?".

Baucus has 5 years left in his term. A nice ethics scandal and removal from high profile committee positions would neutralize him.

"exceeded a special 90-day filing deadline for suits against members of Congress" - Wait what? Could someone expand on this? I wasn't aware that there was such a thing.

It's simple, Ryan, Congress writes the rules.
