yeah.. the media is reporting it as good news because it is good news. Oh, for a moment I forgot that any good news for America is bad news for our great patriots of the right. I can almost see the glee in the comments section whenever there is bad news for the country. What a reprehensible, un-American little movement you have there Danny boy.

Proud Liberal- an oxymoron nic if there ever was. What you are missing here is correlation between how things were reported under Dubya and how they are reported now. When unemployment was 4% and there was any job loss reported you and your pals were screeching from the rooftops. Now, you celebrate when the loss slows from 150,000 to 11,000 all the while ignoring that it is coming from seasonal hiring along with more governmental expansion.

No zuagg, what YOU are missing is that any stat taken out of context is meaningless... it is all about the direction of the numbers.. no one thinks that you can go from the huge Bush job loses to adding jobs overnight... you have to halt the deterioration first just as in EVERY last recession. To have only 11K is good news (if you are a patriotic American that is) any way you cut it. If you want to bellow that it is not good news then fine go right ahead, no one is really listening to you anyway. I think that most Americans know that you guys would complain about Obama no matter what he does. Rather predictable and silly if you ask me but go right ahead and continue to make yourselves irrelevant.

Oh, and one other thing zuagg... the number of job losses for Jan 09, the month that Obama took office, was 741,000. Let me repeat that... the BUSH JOB LOSSES when Obama took office were 741,000 for the month. To have only 11,000 jobs loses this month is quite an improvement won't you say? hmmmmm? Or are you so blinded by partisan hatred for Obama you can't even acknowledge that?

Why does the right wing hate America so much?

We don't hate America Proud Liberal we just hate you and most of us hope that you get every bad thing that is coming to you. :)

Any way to get serious all the media is doing is spinning for Obama we know, you know it even though you will not admit it. My question to you is what are you going to say when after the holidays are over and the unemployment numbers spike back up? Are you going to blame it on Obama?

I mean you are ready to give him all the credit for regular, seasonal hiring as if it is some new and wonderful thing. Will you be consistant and blame him when the regular, seasonal layoffs come around?

Also it seem more people are listening to us than you because according to the newest democratic sponsored polls 45% of American adults consider themselves conservative and only 20% liberal.

Face PL the country is getting wise to you people and we are soon going to be able to start fixing all the damage you traitors have done to our nation. Hopefully when we get back into power we will root you and all your kind out root and diseased branch.

well dakotaboy when you grow up and become dakotaman perhaps we could have an intelligent conversation on this but the numbers are going in the right direction and most Americans would view that as good news. But most right wingers seem to hate good news for America.

As far as the liberal vs conservative thing I'm not too concerned. Many that call themselves conservative are not in agreement with the Dan Riehls of the world. They are not teabaggers. They do not support Palin, etc. The number of Americans that identify themselves as Republicans is at historic lows. Poll after polls shows that more Americans trust the Dems over the Republicans on issues.

So enjoy your delusions.... I know you only read the right wing talking points and being in such an echo chamber you actually believe what you say but fortunately for the country you are a small and every decreasing fringe minority.

have a nice day

The media must be hoping that the economy has finally hit bottom. I doubt that they're right, though.

Geez, Proud Liberal, are you retarded?

Punk Ass Liberal has his head so far up Xerxes butt he could care less about the truth!!

That and he has a sick preoccupation with sucking on a guy's balls!!

Keep up the Daily Koz talking points, they are working so well!!

11 short months until you losers are forced to crawl back under your rocks!!

The best part of Dems in power is that they always screw it up and end up forced into exile!

Just keep ignoring the facts and buying into the whole hopey, changey thing!!

What a braindead POS!!!

OK, this is great. Obama has turned the economy around.

Now, what am I supposed to say when it returns to the tank ?

Yeah folks. Obama can yuck it up now, but come next year, this will all look like a false hope.

Al in St. Lou;s brilliant comeback, "Geez, Proud Liberal, are you retarded?"

Wow, what an insightful refutation of my arguments.

Btw, you say the media must be hoping that the economy has finally hit bottom. Aren't you? It seems to me from reading the right wing blogs that you all are not hoping that things have turned the corner and that the economy is rebounding. Like I said in a previous post, why do right wingers hate America so much? Is it because we have an African-American President? Is that the thing that has made you all so un-patriotic? I just don't get it.

+11,000 jobs ... thats better than -11,000 for sure ...

The following sectors lost an average of 12,809 jobs in this report ...

Natural Resources & Mining
Construction
Durable goods
Non-durable goods
Wholesale Trade
Retail Trade
Transportation & Warehousing
Utilities
Information & Media
Financial Svcs & Real Estate
Leisure

The following sectors gains an average of 33,050 jobs in this report ...

Professional & Business Svcs
Education
Health Svcs
Government

I believe that there are several factors at play here ...

the biggest gainer, Professional & Business Services is surely benefiting from businesses outsourcing support and staffing because they are trying to run a leaner operation and that is good. (Are lobbyist in there ?)
We already waste too many dollars in Education so I'm not going to cheer the union gains there ...
If Obama is to be believed we already spend too much on Heath Svcs. But seriously, given the amount of stress the American workforce is under its no wonder there is a need for more Heath Care workers and thats a good free market action.
More Governement jobs ... It would be nice if Obama actually filled all of the open job recs in his admin at some point in the first year. Not sure the 7,000 reported here are a good sign.

Construction got wacked again. The one sector that the Stimulus was specifically aimed at is bleeding jobs even faster than Obama is firing White House GITMO staffers.

So if you work in sectors that, you know, make things ... ouch ...
If you worked in sectors that help businesses streamline and reduce staff or lobby the government ... weeeeeee ....
If you work in Health Care don't smile too much, Obamacare will come for you soon, be afraid, very afraid ...
If you work in Education smile at your fortune and think about, you know, how to improve your students grades because eventually you will be held accountable ...
If you work in Government please think about doing more with less because that day will come when the tax spigot will be turned off ...

This is a positive urban jobs report as all of the gains are probably in the urban areas while all of the losses are occuring in rural areas ... I see nothing here that says the ECONOMY is turning around, I do see alot of asset re-allocation into non-simulating sectors ...
My take is always that when a company spends money to build a building that they usually hire people to work in said building so you get even more jobs ...
When a company spends money to make more of a product, expecting to sell that product to a retailer/whoesaler, the retailer/ wholesaler will need to build buildings to house/sell and staff those buildings ...

This report says to me that businesses are not looking to do more business in the future ...

Heh Proul Diberal ...

refute your arguments ? you made arguments ? I saw a slur (Teab**) and a few assertions not backed up by links to any actual polls ... most of your data appears to be a year or 2 old ...

We have neither the time nor inclination to "refute" your arguments since you have provided nothing to refute ... yes, some wonderful opinions that I'm sure make your mother proud. Say hi to her when you go upstairs for dinner after a long day of surfing in the basement ... :)

"the media is reporting it as good news because it is good news."

hey, anyhting that gets us closer to the predicted 8% unemployment can't be that bad, ;).

worth pointing out that the unemployment rate dipped from 9.5% to 9.4% from june to july.

good news?
we lost 11k jobs, and unemployment went down?

I guess we can fix unemployment altogether by dumping everyone who is receiving unemployment benefits.

sorry pl, the drop in the number just menas there are fewer people actually getting money while unemployed.

us labor force is 153.1 million. if unemployment dropped .2% without the jobs to replace them, as we lost 11k, it just means 300k americans lost their unemployment benefits and gave up looking, within a month.

you keep telling yourself how good things are...

Jeff, " I saw a slur (Teab**)" Hey, you guys came up with the term... you were going to "teabag Pelosi" "teabag congress" etc. So.. if you are going to teabag people what is wrong with calling you teabaggers...? Don't be such little whinny cry babies.. just look at the comments you guys make about liberals all the time. lol.. boooooo hooooo.... they called me a bad name......lol. Live with it you little teabagger.

Mark "analysis" is beyond stupid.. but then again, it's Mark what would you expect. So short question, is losing 11 thousand jobs in November better or worse than losing 741,000 jobs under the Republican president... quick.. answer.. tick... tock... tick.... tock..... I know it's tough when you are a right winger.. but give it the old college try there Mark.... tick... tock... tick... tock...

fools

Jeff says, "and a few assertions not backed up by links to any actual polls ... most of your data appears to be a year or 2 old "

nope... more like two weeks old. Want a link here you go... tons of polls on the Dem/GOP thing. Check it out but below is one of the latest. Pretty devastating for the Republicans I would say:

ABC News/Washington Post Poll. Nov. 12-15, 2009. N=1,001 adults nationwide. MoE ± 3.5. LV = likely voters.

Overall, which party -- the Democrats or the Republicans -- do you trust to do a better job in coping with the main problems the nation faces over the next few years?" Options rotated

Democrats = 47%
Republicans = 31%

Wow....

http://www.pollingreport.com/institut2.htm

or as reuters puts it:

"The participation rate, or the percentage of the population employed or looking for work, fell to 65 percent, the lowest since the recession began. Once laid-off people stop hunting for jobs, they are no longer counted in the unemployment rate."

http://finance.yahoo.com/news/Nov-jobless-rate-falls-to-10-apf-4164274048.html?x=0&.v=10

I'll repeat the point...

the only thing that can be gleaned from these numbers is that over 300k americans have given up looking for work. Now if you can only discourage about 5 million more workers from seeking employment, you'll have it back down to 7% unemployment. That's "good news", right?

Seriously Proud Lib grow up, it was a joke. I poked back at you for your poke at us, I even put the smiley face on the end. I guess libs like to dish out the hate but even throw a pointed joke back at them and you just get all huffy.

Anyway you never did get around to addressing my main question. Just to refrsh your memory and for anyone who wasn't listening/reading I asked Proud Lib that since he was giving all the credit for the drop in the unemployment figure to Obama was he going to be willing to blame it all on Obama when the next set of numbers comes out after the holidays are over and unemployment rises.

I'm betting you won't. I mean businesses always hire massive amounts of people at this time of year and just like clockwork as soon as the season is over they lay them off. What are you going to say then? You won't be able to blame it on Bush because as of right now you say that Obama's policies are correcting the problem "created" by Bush.

I didn't say anything about the "unemployment rate". The more important number is 11,000 jobs lost as opposed to the 741,000 jobs lost at the end of the Bush term.

Economies and job numbers are like big ocean liners.. they take a long time to turn around. You don't go from losing 750K jobs to adding jobs overnight. It is a process where fewer and fewer jobs are lost each month to where you get to the point where you can actually add jobs to the economy.

Those numbers have nothing to do with whether you are looking for work or have "given up" or whether you are on unemployment or you are not. Its about job growth so your argument is really moot. No one is crowing because the "unemployment rate" went down. The excitement is that the number of job losses has unexpectedly plummeted a lot earlier than expected. Its all about direction... things getting worse? or things getting better? Only a die-hard partisan Obama haters could look at the numbers and not be encouraged. But then again, that assumes that you want America to succeed but as well know you, along with the Limbaugh ditto-heads, have already told us that you want America to fail.

Shame on you. Why hate America so much?

This morning the market opened up nice, both the Nasdaq and the Dow.

Then Zero gave a speech and it went right down, as usual.

Mark, I think you'll like this one (I just glanced at it myself)

http://www.businessinsider.com/trimtabs-the-real-job-loss-number-was-255000-2009-12

Lala... another brilliant comment like the one's we've come to expect from you lala. Question: is the stock market above or below where it was when Obama took office? hmmmmmm?

i guess everyone forgot about when we heard this song over the summer when unemployment slowed and the one announced the recession was over and the press glossed over summer hirings, those numbers were at 8.9% then, they rose to 10.6 as soon as fall set in, now we are at 10% given the holidays (wich if you were sleeping after so much turkey sales after thanksgiving were down by 8% compared to 2008). Proud Liberal this is Obama's economy, he sat in the Senate while Bush was President, I don't remember him calling for investigations into the over inflated housing market or the freddie/fannie failures, or coming out against the bailouts last October, he voted the same way Bush did, you know it you just don't want to admit it, and since we are on the subject, what exactly did Bush do then that obama is not doing now to contrast obama's economic prowse over bush's? Its not like Bernake got the boot from Obama? if anything obama jumped in the driver's seat and went from Bush's 3rd gear going into 4th and skipped 5th to 6th gear in a couple of months. So either you are saying that obama should have fought against everything bush/bernake supported that made its way through a dem controlled house and senate or that obama should have fought against the dem leadership that allowed bush's /bernake's economic wants and desires? In case you did not read cnn today the one is under water more peolpe now disapprove of him than approve and i wonder why. he can say that he is inheriting bush's approval ratings that much is true.

thanks, lala.

pl's blubbering aside, we are probably over 11% by the midterms.

"To have only 11K is good news (if you are a patriotic American that is) any way you cut it."

wow...questioning my patriotism...my wittle feewings are hurt.

"Patriotism is the last refuge of a scoundrel." this is too funny. a lib whining about patriotism. looks like you're down to the bottom of the barrel.

maybe pl can help me out with some other numbers...

are we at 100k troop deployment in afghanistan, yet?

"Anyway you never did get around to addressing my main question."

He does that a lot. Ask him about his support for the beating of a black man and see what Proud Racist says.

Proud Liberal.....

Fact: The current poll of "country going the right way or not" at Real Clear Politics is.....you ready for this????

37.5% The right way
57.5% The wrong way....

Where is all that BS you are spouting from Liberal mouthpieces such as the Washington Post and that "neutered"...er, sorry neutral network ABC....(Always Been anti-Conservative)?

You are missing the fact of polls everywhere which indicate the DEMs are in REAL TROUBLE in 2010...Why else would they be in full-voiced threat and push mode about doing things now? They know they will lose BIG TIME in 2010....Possibly the entire 41 vote majority in the house....

If ya wanna bet on the losses, let me know...we can meet in Vegas and remove some of your spare cash to my pocket dude.

pl-some other numbers for you viewing...

unemployment rate by month:

http://www.miseryindex.us/URbymonth.asp

please note that reagan took unemployment from 10.8% in Dec 82 to 7.2% in june 84.
that's 16 months.

an irony?
unemplyoment when reagan took office?
7.5%
enemployment when the messiah ascended?
7.6%

obama is going to do the same thing, by refusing to look at history?
it does coincide with his coke years though...he might have been a little too crispy to remember.

you really should take some time to read waht obama's advisers are saying...unemployment is going to remain high for quite some time. At best the argument you make for obama are actually vindicating reagan, as he encountered the same employment downturn upon entering office.

as for cost of remedies...

reagan's tax cuts were roughly 2.8% of gdp.

2.8% of 14 trillion would be about 390 billion of today's dollars.

obama dropped 787 billion to fix the economy, which is twice the amount reagan diverted. He has also increased the size of govt by 500 billion, 09 to 10.

http://www.taxfoundation.org/news/show/323.html

Dan, I have to question the math here. How can the economy lose a net 11,000 jobs and have the unemployment rate improve? That does not compute. The only way the unemployment rate could dip is if the economy added jobs. This is fuzzy math, to be sure.

Stogie the answer is simple alot of people have just stopped looking for jobs and have dropped off the rolls.

And don't discount the fact that this administration might just be making up the numbers. Obama and his crew are desperate for good news so I wouldn't doubt that this is all just made up.

It has been apparent that unemployment increases were slowing down, which is good news for the American worker that in spite of the crippling stupidity of Obama's management and crazed ideological stance, that the resilient American economy can still grow.
Just as I was correct when in a previous month I predicted an increase in unemployment AFTER it steadied for a two month period, I also predict the following.
Unemployment increases will slow down eventually (despite Obama) but there will a hiccup following Christmas and big increases for at least two months. Not necessarily in January but in February and for the following reasons:

1) There has been a strong call by retailers and ancillary companies for temporary sales staff for the Christmas Season and as I have seen in a number of third world countries persons who would ordinarily not take such jobs will do so for Christmas particularly in such an economic climate. You would have to add the temporary help services and retail job increases to come up with that figure (60,000). These persons are going to be let go in January as seasonal sales are going to be flat. It is impossible for 4-5% more of the work force to be unemployed (from last year) with their unemployment insurance running out and those employed running scared - for there to be an increase in retail sales above 2%. Additionally these sales are going to come from massive discounting which is going to eat into the bottom line of all businesses and they will be dumping staff as fast as they can in January to compensate for the loss of margin and we do not even know if that means ADDITIONALL cuts beside the temporarily hires. I have a friend visiting from Italy and have assured her that there is no need to rush to buy anything now as the discounts will become deeper before and after Christmas.
2) The liberal Obama shills in the main stream media like the New York Times, Time and Newsweek magazines and the television networks are going to help along the collapse because from today they have gleefully begun and will continue for the next three weeks to tout the decrease of unemployment from 10.2% to 10% as the work of the Great Snake Oil Salesman, Obama. This WILL result in large numbers of those who have GIVEN UP ON LOOKING FOR WORK to now register as work seekers during December and January and therefore technically swelling the ranks of the unemployed particularly for February and March and therefore increasing the unemployment figures. This is the unfortunate because this will cause two problems. The first is the severe disappointment to the American job seeker as he/she realizes this is a typical Obama liberal political/media scam and the second is that it risks the possibility of a double dip recession when the unemployment figures go up and scare the crap out of everyone.

We all know what Proud Liar and the Barack Obama Party are doing to the jobs numbers.

The same thing that they did to the "stimulus" job numbers.

http://abcnews.go.com/Politics/jobs-saved-created-congressional-districts-exist/story?id=9097853

Notice how pathetic Proud Liar is; Proud Liar insists that these imaginary districts and the jobs in them are real, and that anyone who disagrees is a racist. It is truly delusional, the degree to which the brainwashed and mindless left will go to defend their incompetent child.

" They get all their news from the WH these days."

You have to reaize that that's part of the bailout. Rather than fork over cash, the WH just does the work for them. Think of the savings!

"Poll after polls shows that more Americans trust the Dems over the Republicans on issues. "

Yeah, that's why Corizine lost right?

Reported statistics regarding the unemployment rate are about as reliable as reported statistics regarding global war...er, climate change.
.
The administration has cooked the books, and the sycophant media obscures the truth.

Right wingers are rooting for failure. Like Proud Liberal says, bad news for America seems to be good news for Republicans. Obama must not under any circumstances be given any credit. If Obama does "A," then he must be criticized for not doing "B." If instead he had done "B," he would then be criticized for not having done "A." If anything positive seems to be happening, such as a huge decrease in new jobless claims, it can't under any circumstances be portrayed by right wingers as a good thing, and especially can't be credited to any Obama administration policies. In contrast, bad things that began happening before Obama even took office, such as the near collapse of our economy that began during the Bush administration, must always be blamed on Obama. The formula is simple: anything bad gets blamed on Obama, anything good is denied to be good.

Remember when Obama was supposedly causing the stock market to tank? Now that the Dow is back over 10,000, you don't hear right wingers saying anything at all about the stock market. If unemployment continues to improve, I expect that this topic of discussion will evaporate on the right as well. Heaven forbid that the right would have nothing to fuss about except to micro-manage the White House social secretary and White House party protocol.
