This Politico item was almost looking pretty good for a while. What's the new message going to be, stop global warming, elect Dede Scozzafava?
Seriously though ... Newt did the Contract for America. That was fifteen years ago. Is that the main guy you want to be talking to about a new message for today? How about some new freaking blood?
Whatever. Still not sure it qualifies as a "new", message. That sort of implies you have an old one. Other than, we're only almost as bad as the Democrats, does not a good message make. I guess we'll see what we see. But it damned well better be good. More than that, they had better mean it. And that's another reason why I'm not thrilled to see Newt's name invoked.
Republican National Committee Chairman Michael Steele on Monday hinted his party was assembling a set of guiding political principles in time for the 2010 election.
"I and Newt and others are looking at how we define this time, a time where we have an administration that's overstepping its reach on healthcare, overstepping its reach on the economy," Steele added, then asking rhetorically, "how do we principally make the argument, make the case to the American people that the direction the Obama administration, Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid want to go is not good for America?"
"I think we'll have some very interesting things to say next year about that," he said.

Yawn.
Boys, the way to get water out of the boat is punch an alternate path out below the waterline. Bailing a swamped craft will never work.

You hate Beck's The Plan and Newt's old brand
You pine Palin paranoia and Regan nostalgia
2010 2012 and then... Dede could be your Noah

Plugging select phrases in to my BabelMike translator, I get:
...looking at how we will co-opt this time....
...how do we hijack the argument...
...I think Mitt will have some very interesting things to say...

Has Riehl ever apologized for baselessly smearing the hanged census worker as a pedophile?

Here's a thought Michael Steele, "Ask the people of the Conservative party". Newt's a nice guy, but it's time for someone else to have a chance to speak. Either we vote them all out or the ones that remain continue to corrupt the new ones.

You mean the pedophile who hanged himself having scrawled "Fed" on his chest so his son could collect on the life insurance?

"RIEHL FEAR

Yeah, it was pretty un-entertaining the first time, too.
