What would sheriff Andy do? Give Barney another bullet and felon, sex offender Marcos Chavez Gonzalez the chair?
MOUNT AIRY, N.C. (AP) -- Police arrested a convicted kidnapper early Monday in the fatal shooting of four men in a parking lot in the town that inspired the idyllic community of Mayberry on the 1960s TV series "The Andy Griffith Show."
Marcos Chavez Gonzalez was charged with four counts of murder in the slayings late Sunday outside a TV store in Mount Airy, about 100 miles north of Charlotte, Mount Airy police said.
The town with a population of approximately 8,700 is the hometown of Andy Griffith. It has built a tourist trade on nostalgia for the show that continues to thrive in syndication.
Police said Gonzalez was arrested without incident at a motel in Henry County, Va., about 50 miles northeast of the town.
Authorities received information about his whereabouts around 2:30 a.m., according to a statement. Details haven't been released.
Gonzalez, 29, was being held in the Henry County jail, though it wasn't clear whether he had an attorney, jail workers said.

Drug deal.

Two Hispanic last names, usually means illegally in the country. Hey NC, you enticed a lot of illegals to flock to your state with the promise of drivers licenses. How's all that cheap labor you were loving going for you now? The bills are coming in and the crime rate is going up....nice.

Three of the "victims" were nephews of the murderer. Said to be a dispute over a woman. I guess they raped the wrong woman.

Just wanted to chime in. I live in NC. Yes, the easy access to drivers licenses was a draw. I think they check more closely now. There has been a push to allow illegal aliens attend NC community colleges -- but they will apparently pay "out of state" tuition fees.
All that does not compare with the available low-to-moderate paying jobs in construction, restaurants and road work available here. That work that real Americans never did for themselves. That's why NC is such a magnet for immigrants.
Not saying Gonzalez was an "undocumented visitor." Plenty of Latino/Hispanic residents here are actually the kids of the undocumented parents. And before this turns into an illegal immigrant-bashing thread -- there's bad apples in every bunch.

Lie, Americans have traditionally done that work, they just won't do it for wages that they will not be able to support their families with.

Awwww, that is super sticky sweet princess. The fact remains, if a person illegally in the country kills someone, then the victim would not have died if said illegal was not in the country. Again, if we "need the workers" like you say, why can't the US allow them to come in legally and weed out the criminals? Because the businesses want slaves and want you to pick up half the tab for their slaves. Illegals also have realized, if I am going to live like a criminal, I should do it in the US. Why risk going to a nasty Mexican jail when I could go to a nice US jail and hang out with the homies? Seriously, grow a pair and stand up for your country and make your state safe for the next generation.
