Why admit defeat by announcing a "jobs summit" ?

Given the current employment situation, it’s complete true that this administration (or any administration) could claim that it has “saved or created” 150 million jobs, but it would be a meaningless claim since the vast majority would be those infamous “saved” jobs but it would be true because the administration could have just let the economy tank (and probably be met with those "pitchforks" originally destined for Wall Street).

But frankly, this whole regime of “saved or created” jobs has the same smell to it as the VietNam War “body counts.”

Barack Obama is being exposed as a complete and total liar on every front related to job creation.

This is the same delusion that is causing his mouthpiece Nancy Pelosi to claim that her "health care" legislation, which imposes massive and mandatory taxes on every single one of us to pay for it, is the Obama Party's "Christmas present" to us.

Seriously, do Obama and Pelosi charge people for the Christmas presents they give them?

obama needs to empathize with an "I feel your pain" moment.

with tony rezko in jail, it's been hard finding michelle work, let alone one that pays 325k, for pr work.

“but we have an obligation to consider every additional and responsible step that we can to encourage and accelerate job creation in this country.”*

*except tax cuts. it is a republican idea, therefore, it shall not be considered.

Two of the summit participants caught my ear - ngos & unions. Say what?

In 18 months he will turn around and blame the private sector for not creating jobs....

Typical do-nothing ---- whenever a problems arises rather than address it he want to have a meeting and think about it!

"Republican Congressional leaders said Thursday that they hoped to be invited to participate"

I hope that is tounge-in-cheek. Yeah, someone needs to keep an eye on the kittens at play but somehow I don't believe this dog's got the scent.

How can any company do any hiring in this political climate? If they don't know what's going to happen with health care, how can they do proper budgeting? How do they know what they can or can't promise the prospective employee?

This man's incompetence is like a cancer upon the country.

Jobs first, and if and when that’s taken care of, once the party who wants health care reform gets its story straight (let’s face it, it’s all they’ve had to think about since 94, and they still don’t know what they want!), then we’ll talk about the democrats health care ideas, provided you have any that they themselves can agree upon.

the thing that really burns me is the idea that a falling dollar means the trade gap will close, and will be good for business.

I can see europeans/asians now:
"let's go out and buy some 'cheap' american goods." thrills.

The only tradeoff is that the businesses that make money and produce jobs, buy their goods abroad and distribute within the US. As the dollar falls, these businesses would be entering a market where there operating costs are guaranteed to increase.

The 'trade gap closing' argument would occur even if the dollar was much higher...
a large portion of the reduction was based on lower oil prices, which would be 16% lower, had the dollar just maintained value since march.

http://alhambrainvestments.com/blog/2009/01/29/corporate-tax-rates-by-country-oecd/

corporate tax rates around the world.
why would ANYONE in this era of free trading seek to start a corporation in america?

the libs love to use the life expectancy of oecd countries to indict our healthcare system, but go crawling off into the gutter, when one offers that our corporate tax rates are 50% higher than the oecd average.

I am amused.

The same administration and political party that demonizes businesses, demands massive tax increases on businesses, and blames businesses for every single problem of society is wondering why jobs are vanishing.

Perhaps the problem is that Barack Obama's only experience with jobs is his demanding that one be created for Michelle Obama and one was. He must think that, in the real world, he can just demand that businesses create jobs for his cronies, like his Obama Party does in Illinois, and it happens.

This is why Bob and Proud Liberal beclown themselves here so often. They think that demonstrating loyalty, rather than intellectual competence, is the key to getting a job.

They say a majority still stands by Obama, well here are the numbers for Ohio from AmSpec taken from the piece on Ohio above:

"Ohio voters disapprove 53 - 42 percent of the way the President is handling the economy and disapprove 57 - 36 percent of the way he is handling health care. In September, they approved of his handling of the economy 48 - 46 percent and split on his handling of health care 44 - 45 percent...."

This translates into majority support for Obama? How many people are lying to the pollsters to prove they are not racist by 'approving' of Obama?

Politico announces that Obama is going to declare war on the Federal deficit in his State of the Union message come January. I'd say Obama is doing for jobs, what he's done to the deficit. Yup, that'll work.
