Owens probably considered his chances in 2010 as slim at best. Going against a "seasoned" candidate this time, and (hopefully) an organized, functional GOP. Reading once more, from his personal copy of HopenChange, he screamed Obama Akbar, and detonated. Killing not only his political future, but the freedom and (financial) independence/solvency of his constituents.

Now we know why Botox Pelosi was crowing about "winning" , Owens had already sold his soul to the devil.

What did Moderate-Independents expect to happen as they were bamboozled into believing their own propagandizing liars?
Moderate-Independents, once again you were offered a chance to change the direction of this government-takeover madness and once again you chose to lose.
Moderate-Independents,you are running out of chances because the choices are being made for you by the Statist politicians you continue to vote into power.

Considering that on October 1st, Owens was way behind Scozzafava, he would probably say anything to get elected. Being delivered to Congress by the Republican "base" (mostly living outside of his district) was probably the last thing he expected.

Many people in Owen's district are just getting by, with neither the means to buy the mandated insurance or pay the fine without doing something drastic like selling their homes (which these days may only be worth $25K or so in many cases)
For them, the only option is going to be prison.
