More Climate Change Fraud: Et Tu New Zealand?

WTF? Is this just hyper-reaction to something given the other big problems that emerged? Or is the earth doing okay and it's the Global Warming scientists that are suddenly melting down? More data manipulation out of New Zealand discovered? If it's true, whoa!

UPDATE 15:49 NZDT - NIWA's news release in response to this story appears to have been delayed, and according to a radio news report a few minutes ago Rodney Hide, leader of the minority Act Party and a minister in the National Government, is now calling on his Cabinet colleague, Climate Change Minister Nick Smith, to "please explain" [normal transmission now resumes]

The New Zealand Government's chief climate advisory unit NIWA is under fire for allegedly massaging raw climate data to show a global warming trend that wasn't there.

The scandal breaks as fears grow worldwide that corruption of climate science is not confined to just Britain's CRU climate research centre.

The truth is that ALL government sponsored science is susceptible to this problem. All the medical science on cholesterol, triglycerides, trans-fat. The research that got DDT banned, PCBs etc., etc. Climate change fraud was more ambitious and had less smart fraudsters perpetrating it (not many PhD programs in meterology). How much of this ultimately comes out? We will have to wait and see, but remember, the US National Academy of Sciences and Britain's Royal Society backed global warming to the hilt, so if global warming is fraud, the entire scientific establishment is tainted (and the MSM, but that's another story for another day).

Crichton is sorely missed now when he and brilliant antagonists to the barrage of CRU and NIWA faked and massaged "data" aiming at a socialist/elitist takeover of our property and income. Or at least a lion cub's share of it. A couple years back, suspiciously high temps from a certain part of the US were traced back to the local NOAA thermometers being placed near air conditioning vents which boosted the ambient celsius up a notch or two. I wonder how many cottage industry fakes and frauds out there are sending in crude unprocessed data certified by public administrative bodies with a meteorological bias towards AGW?

I had been under the impression that there was NO research at all relied upon to ban DDT; but, aside from that you're absolutely right. The problem is really bigger than that, though. In addition to the fact that most science is funded by the gov't to one extent or another, the "scientists" (read university profs) doing most of said "research" are ideologically motivated and ideologically leftist. This is all largely a side effect of the monopoly the left has over academia in this country.
On top of that, envirocoms (enviro-commies) have suffered from diminishing returns. There were once legitimate pollution problems in America, but they were largely SOLVED by the mid 1980's. But, the EPA, having been created, still needed a reason to exist. Now envirocom professors do some "research" showing that this or that will kill us, or wildlife, or plants, or the entire planet, or cause cancer; the envirocom lobbyists push the issue with leftist Congress-things; and Congress mandates that EPA regulate -- ALL based on trumped up science designed to give them something to bitch about since the environment in America has already been cleaned up for 20 years or more.
And you're also right about NAS. They are the worst. A combination of leftist professors and leftist bureaucrats - what could be worse. I dealt with them on a couple of EPA drinking water regulations, and they simply backed EPA's bogus "science" for purely political/ideological reasons.
More or less ALL science in this country is tainted to one degree or another.
