It's always too good to pass up when a progressive gets pwned by their own post. Such is the case with this Greg Sargent post at Plumline. They must count on people not clicking their links. Sargent's silly smear attempt aimed at Liz Cheney is based upon her alleged lack of understanding of what the folks in a small town actually think as regards some terrorists to be moved from Guantanamo. He claims they are desperate to have thejm as they need the prison jobs.
Small Town To Liz Cheney: We Want Gitmo Detainees, Not Your Fearmongering
Seems that the good people of Standish just don’t have Liz Cheney’s understanding of the nature of the threat.
So, what gem should I pick up from the official in the article that Plumline links as an example of her being out of touch? I'll take this one, thank you very much!
"There are other possibilities out there," Winslow said. "We want to keep it open ... Personally, I think they should probably leave the Gitmo detainees at Guantanamo Bay. But if the Obama administration is determined to move them and it's not going to happen here, it's not the end of the world. We must move forward."
A true progressive genius Greg Sargent, wouldn't you say?

Here's what he said in linking the article:
"While some local residents do appear to have expressed [ link: http://detnews.com/article/20091116/METRO/911160326/Standish-likely-out-for-Gitmo-prison] mixed feelings or opposition to the plan, Moran says that they’re an isolated minority that Ms. Cheney’s video elevates out of proportion in a way that’s “off base.""
I don't know if it is you acting dumb or being yourself, Dan.

I wandered over there and sample comments like this- "The Cheney’s have done more damage to the United States than Hitler or Hirohito ever did." are the norm.
The stupid is strong in liberals.

zaugg--
Replace Cheney with Obama in your "sample comment" above and you get a more accurate picture of the norm these days in the rightosphere. I am sure you would suggest that those comments, although accurate, were posted by liberal trolls to defame the right.

WestWright--
Let me add, I don't mean to suggest Dan is dumb per se. I actually think he is pretty smart to realize that most of his audience aren't going to click through links (especially links to the left wing sites that he attacks) and would effortlessly buy whatever anti-left propaganda, however unsupported it maybe, that he sells in the Riehl world.

Let me splain it to you morons aka progressives.
It has nothing to do with the town wanting the jobs via the prison. The quote I picked supports Greg in that regard. But what it also does is sshow how out of step is your chosen one. IE Gitmo shouldn't even be closed. Get it, stoopids? Nah, you won't.
Keep the faith - til you get crushed in 2010. The town likely has no other choices but a prison for jobs. No one wouod open a business with your dear leader destroying the economy. Prisons are always a regions last resort. But of course they'll take it - just so people can eat.
Doh!

FKD- Replace FKD with liberal in my "sample comment" above and you get a more accurate picture of the norm these days on the interwebs.
Thanks for playing.

"morons aka progressives" have something to say:
______________
[...]
"The scaremongering about these issues should stop.
Using a state of the art but little used prison facility like the one at Thomson, Illinois - with any appropriate security upgrades our law enforcement professionals deem necessary - makes good sense for the tax payers who invested $145 million in the facility and who are seeing millions wasted every month at the costly, inefficient Guantanamo facility. It makes sense for the community which will benefit from the related employment and has absolutely no reason to fear that prisoners will escape or be released into their communities.
But most of all it makes sense for America because it is a critical link in the process of closing Guantanamo and getting this country back to using its tried and true, constitutionally sound institutions."

Keep effin' that chicken, while ignoring the real issues, FKD. And enjoy your short time in power.

"Keep effin' that chicken, while ignoring the real issues, FKD. "
I am sure these chicken hawks who wrote this letter [ http://tinyurl.com/yl66wfr ]are ignoring the real issues as well:
"[...]We have watched with disappointment efforts to engender fear among the American people about the prospect of bringing suspected terrorists to the United States for trial. Our federal justice system has a proven track record of successfully prosecuting terrorists and incarcerating them safely in our prisons. Our courts have convicted 195 terrorists since 9/11. Meanwhile, there have been only three successful prosecutions of terrorists by military commissions over that same period; two of those found guilty were released in less than a year. Those convicted in our federal courts, including many al Qaeda terrorists, are serving long sentences in federal prisons. The highly respected American Correctional Association, the nation’s largest corrections organization, in a recently passed resolution assured the American public they “would be safe from harm and free from danger should any detainees be transferred to a facility or facilities within the United States.” Our prisons currently house more than 150 convicted terrorists and none has ever escaped.
The American people can have confidence that our judicial and penal institutions are strong and that our military, law enforcement and corrections professionals are second to none.[...]"
That's 27 Generals and 5 Admirals for you.
"And enjoy your short time in power."
I can understand why the republicans are increasingly acting in a bizarre, but an-all-so-normal fashion when they simultaneously show outrage and also feel a sense of jubilation while they convince themselves that all the hurting the country is taking is because of the democrats in power and has nothing to do with the Party of No; so you pick your popcorn in anticipation of horrors, thrills and rewards that will surely come as you climax towards 2010.

Isn't it funny, FKD, how chicken-hawk wing nuts like Riehl do so much macho posturing, but when it comes to things like captured terrorists in leg irons locked up in jail anywhere in the continental United States, they're apoplectic with fear. I wonder if Dan's gonna have to check under his bed from now on to see if Khalid Sheikh Mohammed is hiding under there with the Twinkies wrappers and Boys' Life magazines.

Bob, how hard is it for you to comprehend that these fine Islamic chaps are not US Citizens? It's not fear, it's common sense as it is only a matter of time before one of those fine Islamic chaps levels a US city with a suitcase nuke.
While you argue for their "rights", they are laughing at you as they send us towards sharia law. Don't worry though, you can hide behind us "chicken-hawk wing nuts" as you piss your pants while we defend your freedom. Just don't be surprised if we kick a little sand in your cowardly faces.

Bob, I think you can't just generalize Dan into such generalities as in a "chicken hawk wingnut". He deserves better, as you will see below. I think you are on to something here, a larger phenomenon that has nothing to do with a fear of your white grand daughters in scarfs and Sharia law in America:
zaugg wrote, "Just don't be surprised if we kick a little sand in your cowardly faces."
A liberal moron asks: "Dan, is there anything in this world that doesn’t automatically scare you into soiling yourself?"
Dan Riehl: Licking his chops (or is it soiling his pants?) for a race war
