Fifty-seven massacred in a Muslim area of the Philippines, among them, Ismael Mangudadatu's wife, sisters, lawyers, friends and close supporters. The New York Times is reporting it's believed almost, if not all the women were sexually mutilated and possibly raped.
Mangudadatu after deciding to go forward with his candidacy:
"Only death can stop me from running." - Ismael Mangudadatu, who filed his candidacy papers in the Philippines Friday despite his wife and relatives being among 57 people massacred in an apparent bid to stop him from running for governor.
It's sickening to think of the smugness, if not outright cowardice, of so many large media outlets when it comes to dealing with and reporting on terrorism by Muslim extremists. They wouldn't even hazard printing some cartoons, as I recall.
Courage like that of Ismael Mangudadatu deserves to be recognized and applauded.

You say "Courage like that of Ismael Mangudadatu deserves to be recognized and applauded." Wretchard (who has some personal experience with politics in the Phillipines) at Belmont Club might not totally agree with you about that.
