PTSD is not something you catch from PTSD patients or a toilet seat.

This is outright BS. It was a premeditated act of Terrorism, perpetrated by
an Islamic Radical that never should have been in the US Army at that point.
His views were known and the Army screwed up by retaining him. Period.

He should have been cashiered out of the Army and watched. This is just a lot of PC Garbage.
He had planned this for at least 2 weeks in advance.

if this guy was a militia member the media would make the most absurd conclusions, and the lefties would be cheering it on.

Well, He fired over 100 rounds and had one pistol fitted with a laser device.
Gave 2 weeks notice on his apartment and gave away his household goods but had no Deployment Orders.

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20091108/ap_on_re_us/us_fort_hood_shooting

I can see his future without tea leaves or a crystal ball:
*Article 32 Investigation
*Court Martial
*Lethal Injection

If the Pretender in Chief signs the Order.

that and attending the mosque favored by the 9/11 bombers (why is that building still standing, btw?), shrieking allah akbar (lc intentional), trying to convert patients (!!!), posting statements in favor of our enemy online, being vocally against our war in the ME, etc., etc.

it is such a conundrum. Whatever drove him to kill soldiers in a facility that prepares them to leave for the ME or receives them after their tour. whatever was his motive.....

obama gets a pass on commenting on this given the fact that he is the CIC, wich could be detrimental to the Prosecution when trying this case. Nadal is a subordinate of obama. Nadal will be tried by 12 officers his rank and greater, all of them subordinates to Obama. Even if they find a pic of OBL, a vial of Anthrax and a taped message of him doing this in the name of jihad and obl, the WH has to be very cautious in its remarks and failing to do so could result in the difference between him getting life vs. the death penalty. However, the press does not.

old trooper - do you know what type of hand gun he was using? I am very interested in knowing more of the details of how he did what he did especially when having to reload?

He carried two and had to reload to fire that many rounds.
Semi auto, magazine fed pistols, one with a mounted laser.
Nothing definite on make, caliber or model but they were not Mil. Issue.
Info is close held right now due the Article 32 Investigation.

There is a count on the brass though. 100 rounds fired in the space of
10 minutes indicates multiple magazines of 15 round capacity or better.
That can be accomplished in 10 minutes unopposed. Old Grunts like Us can.
For a Doc to have that ability indicates some training, hence my call on
premeditation.

He was a lone nutcase. This has no marking of an Al Qaeda attack. This guy went berserk and was clearly psychotic, paranoid about what he perceived to be an unfair backlash against Muslims after 911 (not that hard to understand, is it). Religion was clearly a factor influencing this horrific crime. It had nothing to do with jihad or Al Qaeda.

FN Herstal 5.7 X 28mm

richard, regardless there are still some very dead and very wounded folks and shouting "Allah Akbar" is indicative of some very strong influence of the "Religion of Peace" gone a bit more radical than casual conversation. I would imagine his charge sheet will be huge.

Hey Cat, those are standard 20 round mags for that pistol. Regardless of caliber, I do not care to get hit with any size round. I do not recall my first bullet wound with any fondness. That FN 5.7 has a very flat trajectory and can be good out past 100 meters in trained hands. I understand that He had two pistols so 100 rounds in 10 minutes is very do-able.

"Domestic Terrorism" is apparently any act committed by a non-Muslim which is intended to disrupt normal civil functions here in the USA.

When a person of the Muslim persuasion commits acts which -if perpetrated by any other member of society- would be considered terrorism, even if that Muslim writes approvingly of jihad and suicide bombers and shouts "Allahu Akbar!" as he's pulling the trigger, he may ONLY be referred to as "a deeply disturbed and distraught individual".

After all, if we call him a "Muslim terrorist", CAIR and all the other pro-Islamist groups will start moaning and whining that America is waging a war on Islam and it's just soooo UNFAIR!!! Members of The Religion of Perpetual Victimhood might start feeling disrespected, might start worrying that people eye them suspiciously in supermarkets, might begin to be concerned that the FBI and ATF are going to raid their local mosques and find the stash of RPG's and Ammo... no, wait, that's only the determined freedom fighters in Gaza, Lebanon, Iraq, etc. Right?

Yeppers .... Nidal Hasan was a victim (y'all git wit da program). And thus, by libturd circular logic (lcl) .... it's (wait for, here it comes) ... Bush's fault!

old trooper, i heard on fox on Friday that he had taken advanced firearms training (in prep for being deployed). I am not sure what that means, I don't suspect it was of the military type given the fact that every officer has to qualify each year with their assigned weapon, his was most likely a side arm - 9mm or 45???, I don't remember any advanced weapon trianing that was just floating around out their for anyone to take in the military at Bragg otherwise Joe would have taken it just to fire off rounds through exotic weapons - at least I would have. Did he qualify as an expert marksman with his pistol - no report on that and I wonder why? I suspect he did this through a private agency (myabe a security outfit????? - kind of like the 9-11 hijackers taking flying lessons from private flying instructors). My question for the FBI is were they aware of this and his firearm purchases, especially a laser sight and the type of weapons and magazines he purchased, especially given his penchant for terrorist web-sites and the fact that he was looked at by them for his statements and affiliations? Military Shrinks are not out in the field down range, so having that type of weapon and equipment does seem out of sorts. I could be wrong, I just never saw that type of a REMF that gung ho, docs (xcepts for SF) are mostly civilians just marking time until they can retire and save lives not take them. I was a 60 gunner for two years, carried a 9 mil, I could hit a 1000 meter target iron sight bipod with 3 round shot group dead center, but i sucked at hitting a target 25 meters in front of me with my 9 b/c we never practiced with the 9 except to qualify. I was not hard to get good with the 9, however you had to know your weapon and how it fires and be comfortable with it to be effective. To kill 12 with a laser sight and wound 30 would take some training, given the reload and the situational environment associated with the act. I could be wrong, I just dont beleive this guy did all this without instruction as to what to purchase, where to train, and how to do it. I don't see a REMF Officer all the sudden jumping up on a table out of the blue and doing what he did - hell that would be a pretty amazing act for any of the 11 series who trains daily to do just that.

Richard:
A. "Jihad" doesn't mean anything close to what you think it means.
B. WHAT "backlash against Muslims" after 911?
C. The mosque he attends systematically preaches the Wahabbist derived, Al Qaeda line.
D. He didn't "go berserk" ...he systematically planned this over a number of weeks.

So congrats: you managed to screw up every single fact to fit your little Dhimmi apologist talking points.

"Dr. Val Finnell was a former classmate of Hasan in California and said he was a quiet man who at times was extreme in his views.

"He publicly declared that the global war on terror was a global war on Islam. He was also very contentious and argumentative, became, you know, visibly upset when people challenged him on his views," Finnell said.

Investigators have located a shooting range near Fort Hood where Hasan practiced in his spare time as well as the gun store where a few weeks ago he bought the murder weapon, a semi automatic pistol which carries a clip of 20 rounds and is known on the street as a cop killer."

I dont know what he is or was or will be - the fact is he killed 12 and wounded 30 subordinates. That in itself sends a loud message.

He could have just as easily went to the Officer's Club and attacked his peers, or went after his peers at his next Battallion or Brigade meeting, where he would have had a target rich environment of officers. No instead he went after his subordinates, men and women who have no authority over him and had nothing to do with his deployment. Why attack them and not those above him in rank?

Not to mention, if you are going to kill people b/c you don't want to go to war, and realize you might end up in prison, why not just go AWOL? Set aside the fact that he did not want to deploy b/c it meant killing muslims so he squares that by killing americans (what if one of them was a muslim)? I also have to ask the question: in his mind is a muslim more valuable than a christian or someone whose faith he does not even know? Furthermore, I never ever saw a Head Doctor ever doing anything remotley associated with a mission to engage with the enemy in combat. You might find them interrogating, yet You don't see shrinks out their mixing it up with the infantry or a combat arms mos unless they are SF and this guy clearly was not, that is why they are called Rear Echelon M#$%^& F*&^%$ or REMFS. Thats not his job. So his reasoning that his gepgraphical location holds him more culpabale for terrorost muslims dying makes no sense to me unless he requested to go out on patrol or man a defensive position chances are he would have done the same thing in Iraq or Afghan that he did at Walter Reed - ride a chair in a temperature contolled room far far away from the enemy.

I am reserving judgement on this guy on his motives until more data is released, I have questions that I hope the evidence answers, what we do know is that he is a murderer, a muslim, he supported jihad, and is claimed to have had problems with this county's policies regarding our anti terrorist stance. Here is a news flash - you don't volunteer to join the military and serve during war to not go to war! Anyone who does so is clearly missing the point of a volunteer military. He could have retired at any time, instead he enjoyed the money, and when his turn came to do what the Army is for, he all the sudden got "religion"?

Yes, him being a nutcase is a valid reason for what he did, however him being a terrorist is another. I think you have to be kind of a nutcase to be a terrorist. I dont know what AQ markings are today since I am not an AQ terrorist. We will have to wait and see what the evidence reveals.

update on my above post - this guy was under watch for trying to contact AQ and having electronic contact with terrorits not to mention going to the same mosque and having contact with two of the hikackers of 9-11. Crazy-yes, Terrorist-yes, FBI dropped ball-Yes, CIA dropped the ball-Yes,NSA dropped the ball-Yes, DHS dropped the Ball-Yes. What is the diff b/t last thurday and last thursday a year ago? Its a rhetorical queastion.
