A gem at the end of this tale of tears, fury and how the Catholic Church doesn't mind pushing socialism, as long as their amendment is intact. Some other Democrats are going to be crying over it come 2010.
"Conservatives swallowed hard" on the health care bill's "staggering costs"?
Not hard enough, jerks. Prepare for that socialist crap of a vote to be regurgitated come next November. And plenty of people are going to be there to to see that you choke on it then. Swallow that! Conservative? Conservative my azz, hairballs. You're going down.
The result produced plenty of ill will, but it was hardly the only major problem with the bill. Pelosi and other leaders knew that support for it had been waning all week. Any further delay could cripple their efforts. So they pressed ahead with a bill that no one loved but almost everyone still believed in.
The abortion fight was hardly the only delicate compromise. Liberals accepted a watered-down public option. Conservatives swallowed hard on the bill’s staggering costs. But these Democrats still backed the bill despite finding it “deeply flawed.”

Dan, please. The United States Conference of Catholic Bishops is not "the Catholic Church" just as Ron Paul is not the Republican Party. There is socialism in the USCCB and it breaks the hearts of faithful Catholics like myself. Please don't make it worse by saying "the Catholic Church" insteand of "the USCCB". At least Politico knows to call it the USCCB. I am "the Catholic Church" and so is the Iowa bishop who rightfully said that the Church does NOT teach that government must provide health care.

The USCCB is breaking the hearts of many faithful Catholics while bishops like Bishop Nickless of Iowa are more on track.
Thanks.

And it looks like those Catholics were just sold a bill of goods.

Or, more likely, they knew the Obama Party was going to lie to them and decided that it was OK to push abortion as long as they got socialized medicine.
